Each model on this list is scored by averaging its Klunk Score across every model year on file. The Klunk Score is computed daily from NHTSA owner-complaint data — same dataset reporters and J.D. Power cite. Higher score = fewer documented problems per model year.
Two caveats up front: best-selling models accumulate more complaints than rare models even if they are equally reliable per capita, and newer model years naturally have less time on the road to accumulate complaints. For a per-year picture of any model on this list, click into its dashboard.
