Re: Vehicle Safety Defect Complaint – 2023 Chevrolet Blazer To Whom It May Concern, I am submitting a formal safety defect complaint regarding my 2023 Chevrolet Blazer. This vehicle has exhibited multiple system failures that present a serious risk to driver safety and public roadway safety. The vehicle was purchased new on July 20, 2023. Beginning on April 21, 2025, at approximately 27,610 miles, the vehicle developed a progressive defect initially presenting as oil-related issues. Despite multiple repair attempts, the condition worsened and required a full engine replacement in January 2026. Following the engine replacement, the vehicle continued to experience critical safety failures, including engine stalling, reduced engine power warnings, and electronic stability control (ESC) alerts. On April 26, 2026, the vehicle experienced a driver assistance system malfunction in which it attempted to steer off the roadway. I was forced to manually disable the system to maintain control of the vehicle. On April 27, 2026, the vehicle exhibited a fuel system failure, including fuel leakage and fuel odor, along with multiple simultaneous warning indicators: • Reduced Engine Power • Service ESC • Steering Assist Reduced / Drive with Care • Power assist driver system disabled This combination of failures presents both a fire hazard and a loss-of-control risk. Additionally, I was informed by the dealership that a high-pressure fuel line, a one-time-use component, was not replaced during the engine installation. This raises concerns regarding improper repair and continued unsafe operation of the vehicle. The vehicle has undergone multiple repair attempts and a major powertrain replacement, yet continues to present serious safety concerns. Due to these ongoing issues, I do not feel safe operating this vehicle. I respectfully request that NHTSA review this matter for potential safety defects that may impact other vehicles of the same make and model.
My vehicle makes a clunk noise when the vehicle is in motion and i press on the accelerator it also makes a little jerk. This mainly happens @ low speeds and on a incline hill. There some type of oil or grease stains where the cv axle goes into transmission. ive felt my vehicle with less power and pulls to the left. Took the vehicle to chevrolet and they said they couldnt duplicate the issue or the oil leak.
Rear brake automatic parking brake motor locked rear wheels. Dealership diagnosed and repaired at my cost. Service parking brake light illuminated and rear brakes locked not allowing vehicle to be moved. After a few restarts brakes released.
The vehicle has turned off twice while driving. Endangering the safety of everyone in the vehicle
The radiator developed a leak at around 36k miles and needed to be replaced. My understanding is that this is an ongoing problem with this vehicle.
My bright lights do not go off when oncoming vehicles or vehicles in front of me are close and when they do dim they go on and off. People flash their brights at me causing me not to be able to sleep and this happens even when they turned off of auto. Another item of concern is that the car would lock and unlock and the interior lights would go on and off. This was fixed but it was a line under the front that was not soldered together at the manufacturer is what the Chevy dealership stated.
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Blazer. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed with no vehicles or objects nearby, the Forward Collision Avoidance system activated, and the Automatic Emergency Braking System engaged and brought the vehicle to a complete stop. Upon driving off, the vehicle then jerked and jolted. The vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who informed the contact that the vehicle functioned as intended during the time in the Service Center. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 20,000. The VIN was not available.
ON SEPTEMBER 10, 2025 THE TRANSMISSION FAILED FOR THE 3RD TIME WITHOUT WARNING. THIS TRANSMISSION ONLY LASTED ABOUT 5,500 MILES. WHEN IT FAILS, IT SIMPLY DOES SO WITHOUT WARNING. WHILE DRIVING IT WLL START SHUDDERING AND WHEN YOU STOP IT JUST WONT GO AFTER THAT. gm KNOWS THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THESE 9 SPEED TRANSMISSIONS BECAUSE THEY ARE ON BACKORDER AND MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR OVER TWO MONTHS WAITING ON PARTS. SINCE THIS IS THE 3RD FAILED TRANSMISSION UNDER WARRANTY, I CREATED A COMPLAINTWITH GM AND REQUESTED A BUY BACK BUT THEY REFUSED.
On July 31st 2025 my vehicle would not sift out of first gear. I had vehicle towed to Kelly Chevrolet in [XXX] . After a failed repair attempt on August 18 2025 have been waiting on back ordered valve body part number 24045659. No eta on this part even though a transmission replacement would resolve but dealer refuses to replace. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Since I’ve got the vehicle i experienced issues with it not going in drive or reverse sporadically. I was air to obtain this in video and show it to the dealer for the first time Dec 2023. In addition and overtime it’s seems this issue may go hand and hand with the lane assist issue that had been known on Chevy models where they either don’t work of they don’t recognize the lanes correctly and they pull although your in the correct lane.i have specifically taken the car in on 3 or more occasions about it disengaging and not driving forward or backwards. More recently it started to seem as if while u was actually driving the car did not want to accelerate forward and then while trying to accelerate the steering wheel pulled and caused the car to spin out of control on the freeway. The car was just in the shop from End of April till May and the issues are unable to be duplicated so I just keep getting pushed off with the car. The car radio constantly malfunctions and glitches i several different forms, black screen no sound or not allow Bluetooth capabilities. My most main concern is this power train issue and me getting stuck with a car that is going to be it of warranty and the issue has never been resolved even though I have showed the dealership a live video of the occurring issue that there is something wrong here.
Thermostat not working. Causing fan to run as if the vehicle is overheating
I am writing to inform the appropriate authorities of the issues that I’ve continually had with my 2023 Chevrolet Blazer. It has come to my attention that the aforementioned vehicle will need a new transmission and possible engine repair currently totaling at just over 6,000 dollars in repair costs. When I was provided with the total repair cost I was informed by the certified service representative that this was a common issue for the Blazer model and that GM was aware of the ongoing issue. I’ve reached out to GM with my concerns regarding this vehicle and the fact that this is an issue that has in prior dates prompted recalls for blazer models from the year 2020-2024. I have because of the transmission defects/ failures been stranded and unable to shift gears required for proper motion of the car. To which I am sure you can understand the public safety risk of an inoperative transmission. I have taken the car in for service concerning the transmission on 3 separate occasions within the last 10 days and was told by prior service technicians that “ No problems were visible” leading to the total breakdown of the transmission. I reached out to GM and told them of my wish to return the leased vehicle early due to my fears of now driving and operating the car and was told that I was not eligible for a buy back. GM is maintaining its stance of no liability and I am seeking outside help from this governing agency to ensure that repair costs are fully covered for this defective product.
