VAN HAS LESS THAN 60,000 M. LAST 2-3 YEARS RUST CORROSION ON FRAME HAS NOW BECOME SO BAD ITS NO LONGER ABLE TO PASS NH STATE SAFETY INSPECTION. BRAKE LINES RUSTED AND REPLACED IN 2010 .GAS TANK RUSTED AND LEAKS.LEAF SPRING BRACKETS RUSTED AND BROKEN ,ONE REPLACED IN 2011,OTHER JUST BROKE CAN NOT FIND MECH. TO FIX,BECAUSE RUST HAS EATEN AWAY SO MUCH METAL,( IT GETS THINNER AND WEAKER). I BOUGHT THIS VAN BRAND NEW AM THE ONLY DRIVER AND HAVE TAKEN VERY GOOD CARE OF IT.I CAN NOT AFFORD TO JUST DUMP IT AND BUY ANOTHER. I KNOW OF MANY OTHER GMC VANS ALL DOING THE SAME THING.THE BUMPERS ALSO ARE PAPER THIN WHERE THERE'S SOME CHEAP METAL LEFT. *TR
WHEN APPROACHING STOP LIGHT WITH TRAFFIC THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I HAD TO SWERVE AND USE THE PARKING BRAKE TO STOP. *TR *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 GMC SAVANNA. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING SERVICE FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE WHEN THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY THE TECHNICIAN THAT THE FRAME WAS SEVERELY RUSTED TO THE POINT WHERE THE TECHNICIAN WS ABLE TO PUT HIS FINGER THROUGH THE RUST AND THE FRAME. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THE FAILURE INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED OR MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 GMC SAVANA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE WAS DEFECTIVE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT HE HAD TO WATCH THE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE IN ORDER TO KNOW THE FUEL LEVEL INSTEAD OF RELYING ON THE FUEL GAUGE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 135,000.
I'VE NOTICED THAT 96 AND NEWER GMC SAVANA'S AND CHEVROLET EXPRESS FULL SIZE VANS HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE REAR TAILLIGHTS. I'VE BEEN LOOKING FREQUENTLY FOR A RECALL BUT HAVE YET TO SEE ONE. THE PROBLEM IS WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED, THE RIGHT BRAKE LIGHT IS VERY DIM. I'VE CHANGED THE BULBS SEVERAL TIMES THINKING THIS WOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM BUT IT HASN'T. WHEN THE TAIL LAMPS ARE TURNED ON AND THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED, THE RIGHT SIDE COMPLETELY MALFUNCTIONS. I WOULD REALLY HATE TO GET A TICKET FOR A BURNED OUT TAIL LAMP WHEN THAT ISN'T THE CASE. *NM
NO INJURIES, OR CRASHES. DOOR HANDLE ON VAN PULLING AWAY FROM VEHICLE. POOR QUALITY FOR HANDLES. MADE OF ALL PLASTIC. COULDN'T OPEN PASSENGER DOOR BECAUSE PLASTIC PARTS HAD BROKEN INSIDE THE DOOR. THIS VAN IS NOT ABUSED IN ANY WAY,AS MY 98 LB. WIFE IS THE ONE USING THAT DOOR EVERYDAY AND DOESN'T SLAM THE DOOR, OR TUG ON HANDLES. PART WAS REPLACED BY DEALER. MY CONCERN IS WHEN WILL THE REST OF THE HANDLES BREAK, OR FALL OFF?*JB
DT: THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING THE 2000 GMC SAVANNA VEHICLE EXPERIENCED D THE SAME PROBLEMS AS MENTIONED IN RECALL 05V00500. WHILE PARKING THE VAN, COMING BACK, AND THEN PUTTING IT I INTO THE REVERSE THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED. ALSO, HAD BRAKE PROBLEMS. HAD TO ALLOW EXTRA SPACE IN BETWEEN CARS FOR THE VAN TO STOP. CONSUMER CALLED GM, AND CHECKED ON THE RECALLS , AND WAS INFORMED THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. CONSUMER ONLY PUT ON 1,500 MILES ON THE VAN SINCE PURCHASING IT. THE VAN WAS PREOWNED AND WAS EQUIPPED WITH HANDICAP ACCESSIBILITY. THE DEALERSHIP WAS CALLED, THEY FOUND RECALLS, AND T REFERRED CONSUMER TO GM. THE OWNER HAS NOT HAS THIS REPAIRED. THE BRAKES HAS ALSO HAD PROBLEMS. THE BRAKES OPERATED POORLY, AND COULD NOT GET VEHICLE TO STOP. THE MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKES.*AK
DT: THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP LOCATED INSIDE THE FUEL TANK, BASICALLY BURNED OUT. CONSUMER SAID THE ONLY THING THAT SAVED VEHICLE WAS THAT THE HILL HE WAS TRAVELING ON WAS NOT STEEP. CONSUMER LOST POWER FUNCTION IN 2000 GMC SAVANNAH 2500. THERE WERE SO SIGNS OF ANY TROUBLE BEFORE THIS HAPPENED. OWNER CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP, THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BECAUSE IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. MANUFACTURER SAID THE SAME THING, THEY COULD NOT HELP . THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED ALREADY, AND THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO CORRECT ITSELF. THE INFORMATION GIVEN IS WHAT THE CONSUMER PROVIDED AT THIS TIME.*AK
CONSUMER COMPLAINED ABOUT A REAR BRAKE PROBLEM. CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT THE SHOES WERE TOO SMALL FOR THE DRUMS OR THE DRUMS WERE TOO BIG FOR THE SHOES. CONSUMER WAS FURIOUS. CONTACTED MANUFACTURER, AND HAD NOT RECEIVED ANY ASSISTANCE. *AK
CONSUMER HAD VEHICLE SERVICED 8 TIMES. EACH TIME ROTORS/BRAKES, AND DRUMS WERE REPAIRED. MECHANIC STATED THE SHOES DID NOT FIT THE DRUMS. *AK. GM HAS TECHNICAL REFERENCE DATED 09/01/1999 THA THAS THEM PUTTING SOME PART ON. EVERY TIME THEY TAKE IT IN TO THE SHOP IT COMES OUT WITH THE SAME RESUKTS. CONSUMER'S DEDUCTION WAS THE SAME AS THE MECHANIC, THAT THE PART IS NOT SIZED RIGHTLY. *AK
WHILE DRIVING THERE WAS SMOKE. ONCE GETTING OUT OF THE VEHICLE IT BECAME ENGULFED WITH FLAMES. OTHER THAN NORMAL SERVICE, NOTHING WAS WRONG.*AK THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT THIS YEAR AND MODEL VEHICLE HAS HAD NUMEROUS FIRE PROBLEM. THE CONSUMER WOULD LIKE TO E CONTACTED TO DISCUSS THE FAILURE. *NM
WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH CONSUMER FELT AS IF THE VEHICLE ROLLED OVER A BUMP. AFTER STOPPING THE VEHICLE AND A THOROUGH INSPECTION CON CONSUMER DETERMINED THAT THE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE TIRE. CONSUMER REPLACED TWO TIRES ON THE VEHICLE DUE TO TREAD SEPARATION.*AK
2000 GMC SAVANA VEHICLE IS EQUIPED WITH ANTILOCK BRAKES. ON TWO OCCASSIONS WHEN I HAD TO MAKE SUDDEN STOPS I ENCOUNTERED BRAKE FAILURE. ALTHOUGH, THERE WERE OTHER TIMES THEY NEVER RESULTED IN ACCIDENTS. THE BRAKES WOULD SEEM TO ENGAGE THEN LET GO CAUSING VEHICLE TO TRAVEL FATHER THAN EXPECTED. *AK
EVERY 15,000 MILES BRAKES FAIL. DEALER STATES THAT WHEEL BEARING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
CONSUMER STATED WHILE TRAVELING 55-60 MPH A HORSE WAS STANDING IN MIDDLE OF STREET AND CONSUMER'S VEHICLE RAN HEAD ON INTO THE HORSE. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AT ANY INDICATION. *AK
CONSUMER NOTICED WHILE DEPRESSING BRAKES STEERING WHEEL LOCKED HALF WAY IN BETWEEN TURNS.*AK
CONSUMER STATED THE PASSENGER REAR TIRE TREAD SEPARATED, FOLLOWING A LOUD NOISE, TIRE WAS NOT FLAT. *AK THE DRIVERS REAR EXPERIENCED TREAD DELAMINATION. THE TIRES WERE IN GREAT SHAPE AND SHOWED LESS THAN 50% TREAD WEAR. (LARGE PORTIONS OF THE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE TIRES AND EXPOSED THE STEEL BELTS) THE TIRES WERE NOISY AND OUT OF BALANCE. THEY WERE STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND THE CONSUMER REQUESTED A REFUND. (ONE TIRE LOST TREAD AND HELD AIR, AND THE OTHER LOST TREAD AND HAD GONE FLAT) *SCC THE CONSUMER REPLACED ALL FIVE TIRES AT HIS EXPENSE. *JB
