TL* THE CONSUMER CALLED ON BEHALF OF HER SON WHOM WAS THE DRIVER/OWNER. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT HER SON WAS INVOLVED IN A FATAL ACCIDENT WHILE RIDING HIS 2017 HONDA CBR 1000. THE CONSUMER STATED PER THE POLICE REPORT THE MOTORCYCLE WA STUCK IN 3RD GEAR, THE RIDER WAS TRAVELING UP A RAMP AS THE LOST CONTROL. PER THE REPORT THE RIDER WENT OVER A RAIL HOWEVER, THE MOTORCYCLE WENT OVER A RAIL ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE ACCIDENT WAS NOT DISCOVERED UNTIL THE NEXT DAY BY A PASSERBY. AND HIS BODY WENT OVER THE RAILING AND WAS FOUND THE NEXT DAY. THE CONSUMER REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V681000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) AS A CAUSE OF THE FAILURE AND WAS UNAWARE IF THE VIN WAS INCLUDED OR REPAIRED UNDER THE RECALL. THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS A NO SALE ALERT ON THE MOTORCYCLE. THE MOTORCYCLE WAS TOWED TO A POLICE LOT AND DESTROYED. THE CONSUMER WAS CONCERNED THAT THE MOTORCYCLE SHOULD NOT BE ON THE ROADWAY AND THE MOTORCYCLE TRAVELLED OVER A SPEED BUMP CAUSING THE RIDER TO LOSS CONTROL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATELY FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. *DT *AS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 HONDA CBR1000RR. WHILE RIDING THE MOTORCYCLE AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, IT FAILED TO ACCELERATE. IN ADDITION, AN ABNORMAL NOISE WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE ENGINE BLOCK. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE MOTORCYCLE WAS TAKEN TO CAPITAL POWERSPORTS (10920 STAR RD, WAKE FOREST, NC 27587), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 600.
