WE OWN A HYUNDAI 2001 XG300 WHICH HAS SEVERE CORROSION AND RUST ON THE SUB FRAME. SINCE NOVEMBER, WE HAD DIFFERENT WORK PERFORMED ON THE CAR. ALL THE MECHANIC HAVE SAID THAT THE CORROSION AND RUST IS SEVERE AND IS EFFECTING THE SUSPENSION AND OTHER MOUNTINGS TO THE FRAME. THE CARBON EMISSION EVAPORATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE DEALERSHIP TO GET IT TO MOUNT HAD TO USE PLASTIC ZIP TIES DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF RUSTS AND HOLES IN THE FRAME. THE DEALERSHIP MECHANICS HAVE STATED THAT THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE DUE TO THE REAR TIRE IS NOT FULLY ATTACHED AND NEED WELDING WORK TO BE PERFORMED. THIS IS DUE TO THE SEVERE CORROSION. THE CONTROLLER ARM OF THE REAR RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, BOTH REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM WERE REPLACED. THE REGIONAL DISTRICT MANAGER FOR THE NORTHEAST SAYS THIS IS NORMAL CORROSION FOR A 10 YEAR OLD CAR. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 HYUNDAI XG300. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD PULL TO THE RIGHT WHEN SHE DROVE VARIOUS SPEEDS INCLUDING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH. SHE NOTICED THE FAILURE IN OCTOBER 2003. THE TIRES WERE CHECKED AND ALIGNED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. A LOCAL MECHANIC STATED THAT THE FRONT SUBFRAME WAS CORRODED. SHE LATER INQUIRED ABOUT RECALL 09V124000, SUSPENSION AND WAS TOLD THAT HER VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED. SHE ALSO STATED THAT IN AUGUST 2007 SHE NOTICED THAT THE SRS LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED AND IT WAS CITED THAT THE SRS LIGHT WAS ON BECAUSE OF A FAULTY WIRE WHICH WAS CONNECTED TO THE FRONT SEAT AND COULD NOT BE ADJUSTED. THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE TO BE TAKEN APART TO CONFIRM THAT THE WIRE WAS FAULTY. SHE ALSO WAS INFORMED THAT RECALL 02V105000, AIR BAGS, SIDE/WINDOW WAS RELATED TO HER FAILURE BUT DID NOT INCLUDE HER VIN. IN JULY 2009, SHE NOTICED THAT THE FUEL TANK WOULD NOT TAKE GASOLINE. SHE FELT AS IF IT WAS BECAUSE OF THE FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY VALVE BUT IT WAS NOT CONFIRMED BY AN INSPECTOR. THE VEHICLE REJECTED THE FUEL AND CAUSED SPILLAGE. SHE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS ADVISED THAT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST HER. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 78,225. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 24,000. THIS HAPPENED AFTER ABOUT 10000 MILES ON THE CARE I REPLACED THEM WITH CERAMIC PADS AND RESURFACED THE ROTORS THIS LARGELY FIXED THE PROBLEM. 2. RADIO HAS A SHORT THAT CAUSES RADIO TO GO ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY. IF A CD IS PUT IN THE CD PLAYER AND LEFT THERE WHILE RADIO IS IN USE, THE RADIO WORKS FINE. MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 63000 3. ENGINE BEGAN MAKING CLACKING NOISE ABOUT 8 MONTHS AGO. DIDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE CLACKING NOISE YET. MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 65000 4. GAS CAP DOOR POPPED OPEN WHILE DRIVING THEN WHEN PARKED AND VEHICLE TURNED OFF DOOR RELEASE MECHANISM WILL AUTOMATICALLY ACTIVATE CONTINUOUSLY UNTIL THE BATTERY RUNS DOWN. UNPLUGGED DOOR SWITCH AT DOOR AND USE MANUAL RELEASE IN TRUNK. MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 65000 NOT RESOLVED 5. HAD SIMILAR PROBLEM TO 10099943 CARE JUST DIED WHILE DRIVING, COULD HERE ELECTRICAL ARCING WHEN TRYING TO RESTART. WAS TOWED 300 MILES TO HAVE FIXED MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 15000 THIS ISSUE WAS RESOLVED AT THE DEALER. *TR

SHE WENT TO THE DEALER SIXTEEN TIMES CONCERNING THE STABILIZER BARS FAILING. SHE HAS ALL OF THE PAPERWORK CONCERNING EACH FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 82,600. THERE WERE NO PRIOR FAILURES OR INDICATOR LIGHTS. THE CONTACT'S CURRENT MILEAGE IS 18,000. THE DEALER THEN ADVISED THE OWNER THAT THE ENTIRE AIR BAG MODULE HAD TO BE REPLACED AND THAT HE/SHE WAS UNSURE ABOUT THE AIR BAG'S CAPABILITY DURING AN ACCIDENT. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER AGREED THAT THE WARRANTY SHOULD COVER THE AIR BAG MODULE. DUE TO THE BILLING SYSTEM WHICH WILL NOT ALLOW THE REPAIR TO BE ENTERED WITHOUT COST, THE MANUFACTURER IS NOT TAKING THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE WARRANTY COVERAGE AND DOES NOT AGREE THAT THE DEALER SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY EITHER. HYUNDAI ALSO ADVISED THE CONTACT TO CALL THE CONSUMER AFFAIRS DIVISION WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THE DEALER. PER CONSUMER AFFAIRS, THE CONTACT WOULD BE REIMBURSED FOR REPAIRS AFTER FOUR WEEKS. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO REQUEST THE DEALER PAY THE LABOR CHARGES. DEALERSHIP SAYS THERE IS A LEAK IN THE A/C COOLANT, BUT THEY CANNOT FIND IT. 3. CAR CONTINUALLY STUTTERS AT HIGH SPEEDS, DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACED NUMEROUS PARTS, BUT PROBLEM PERSISTS. 4. ENGINE BEGAN MAKING CLACKING NOISE ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO. DEALERSHIP SAID BAD GAS WAS CAUSE, BUT HIGH-GRADE GASOLINE HAS NOT FIXED PROBLEM. DEALERSHIP SAID I NEEDED A TUNE-UP, BUT THAT DID NOT FIX PROBLEM. DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY CANNOT HEAR NOISE, BUT NOISE IS CLEARLY AUDIBLE WHEN ACCELERATED AND CLIMBING HILLS (2-4 RPMS). DEALERSHIP STILL SAYS THEY DON'T HEAR A PROBLEM AND CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THIS IS OF MAJOR CONCERN TO ME, AS I'M AFRAID THE ENGINE WILL BLOW UP WHILE ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY. 5. AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON ABOUT A MONTH AGO, AND WON'T GO OFF, ALTHOUGH NOTHING IS WRONG IS AIRBAGS. 6. RADIO HAS A SHORT THAT CAUSES RADIO TO GO ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY.
