In the last 2 months I have had the front passenger tire blow out 3 times. After this last tire repair the car started to shake, vibrate and make a knocking noise while driving. When driving faster the steering wheel would jerk me almost offthe road. It was so bad I pulled over and when I looked at the front passenger tire it was smoking and sitting sideways. I had to get my vehicle towed and now I have no way to work. I have included an estimate of the repairs as well as a written warranty that was given to the previous owner. I was told this was no longer valid since I am not the original owner of the vehicle. The way the steering jerked and how the tire went sideways I feel that is a safety issue.

I RECENTLY TOOK MY CAR IN FOR A REGULAR SMOG CHECK, AND THE TECHNICIAN REPORTED THAT THERE IS 1 OPEN RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE. I CALLED AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH INFINITI OF ROSEVILLE. BROUGHT MY VEHICLE IN AND THE TECH TOLD ME THERES NO NEED TO REPLACE THE AFFECTED PARTS BEING AS THE CAR HAS 202K MILES.

TL* TAKATA AIR BAG RECALL. THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND OWNED A 2001 INFINITI I30. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HER DAUGHTER WAS IN LINE AT A DRIVE THRU, A SMELL EMITTED THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE WITHOUT WARNING. AS THE BURNING SMELL PROGRESSED, SHE ALSO SAW WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER GOT OUT OF THE LINE AND CHECKED THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE WHERE SHE SAW FLAMES COMING THE ENGINE. AUTHORITIES WERE CALLED TO THE SCENE OF THE FIRE; HOWEVER, BEFORE THEY ARRIVED, THE VEHICLE HAD EXPLODED. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED UPON EXPLOSION. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED AT THE SCENE AND A POLICE REPORT AND FIRE REPORT WERE FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED DUE TO THE EXPLOSION AND WAS TOWED TO AN UNKNOWN LOCATION. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS A TAKATA RECALL ON THE VEHICLE UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V008000 (AIR BAGS) THE MANUFACTURER NOR THE DEALER HAD BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

THERE IS VIBRATION AND A CLUNKING NOISE WHEN TURNING. IT IS HARD TO STEER STRAIGHT ON ROAD. THE REAR SUSPENSION INCLUDING IT'S PARTS HAVE FAILED MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO PROPERLY ALIGN THE VEHICLE. THIS HAS CAUSED THE FRONT SUSPENSION TO DEGENERATE CONSIDERABLY CAUSING PERSISTANT VIBRATION AND A CLUNKING NOISE. THIS ALSO CREATES A PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING. IT CANNOT BE PROPERLY CENTERED. THE RIGHT REAR SEVERLY UNDER STEERS. THERE IS A DEFECTIVE TRANSVERSE LINK, SPRINGS AND STRUTS AND A DEFECTIVE RACK AND PINION.

I WAS DRIVING THE CAR THE ENGINE WAS WARM AND RUNNING JUST FINE. THEN OUT OF NO WHERE THE CAR AT 40 MPH ENGINE BEGIN WILDLY REVVING THE RPMS WENT DIRECTLY HOME AND IN PARK IT WAS DOING THE SAME THING. TURNED IT OFF CALLED A TOW TRUCK HAD IT TOWED IN TO LOCAL SHOP. A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SHOWING A P0505 CODE. THE SHOP REPLACED THE IACM AND THEN THE ECU AT A COST OF OVER CAR WAS RETURNED SAME CODE AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON THE MECHANIC SAID IT WOULD NOT RELEARN IDLE AND TO DRIVE IT AROUND AND SEE IF THAT WOULD HELP. I AM AN ELDERLY WOMAN AND I SPEND THE NEXT FEW DAYS RIDING THE BRAKE TO KEEP THE CAR IN CONTROL. IDLE WAS RUNNING HIGH IN PARK AND DRIVE. I WAS BECOMING AFRAID OF THE CAR AND DECIDED TO TAKE IT TO THE INFINITI DEALER FOR REPAIRS. WITH SAME P0505 CODE AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND IN LESS THEN SEVEN DAYS THE IACM AND ECU ONCE AGAIN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THAT'S BECAUSE THE MOTOR MOUNTS FAILED AND SINCE THEY ARE FLUID FILLED THEY LEAKED CAUSING THE OTHER PARTS TO SHORT OUT. THE INFINITI DEALER SAID THE THREE PARTS ARE ALL ON THE SAME CIRCUIT BUT THIS IS ONLY KNOWN TO INFINITI MECHANICS. THE REPAIR IS NOW OVER $3000.00 PUS THE FIRST CHARGE. THIS IS WAY MORE THEN MY CAR VALUE. I RESEARCHED THIS CONDITION ON THE INTERNET. KIDS HAVE BEEN DRIVING THESE CARS WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURS AT 80 MPH WITH BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE. I NEVER WRITE ANYTHING ON THE INTERNET BUT I AM CONCERNED THIS IS GOING TO CAUSE A CRASH AND SOMEONE MAY BE SERIOUSLY HURT. CAR HAS 110000. MILES I WILL PAY FOR THE REPAIRS OUT OF POCKET BUT I THINK THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL.

I WAS DRIVING ALONG THE MIDDLE LANE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. AT THE INTERSECTION WITH TRAFFIC LIGHTS, THE LANE WAS STUCK IN FRONT OF ME AND THERE WAS NO SPACE TO GO. IN ORDER NOT TO BLOCK THE INTERSECTION, I HAD TO SLOW DOWN AND STOP AT THE TRAFFIC LIGHTS. WHILE I WAS WAITING AT THE LIGHTS, AFTER 10 SECONDS THE OTHER CAR CAME CLOSER WITHOUT SLOWING DOWN AND HIT MY CAR FROM THE BEHIND. I WAS REAR-ENDED ON THAT INCIDENT.

"TAKATA RECALL".... I RECEIVED AN AIRBAG SAFETY RECALL BACK IN OCT 2013. I TOOK THE CAR TO KUNI WESTSIDE INIFINITI, LYNNWOOD, WA.... THEY COMPLETED THE RECALL WITH INFLATOR -AIR BAG, AS-K8E61-7994D. I AM UNAWARE AS TO WHICH AIR BAG WAS REPLACED. RECENTLY THE AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD STARTED FLASHING. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO RECENT RECALL, JUST THE ONE BACK IN 2013. THEY INFORMED ME TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT AND THEY WOULD CHECK IT OUT... THE DEALERSHIP IS APPROX 80 MILES AWAY FROM MY HOME. I AM 88 YRS OLD AND I HAVE YET TO TAKE IT IN.... WHAT IS THE "FLASHING LIGHT" TELLING ME???

CAR HAS DEVELOPED ISSUES STARTING AND MAINTAINING SMOOTH IDLE ONCE STARTED. INITIALLY, A MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE ISSUES AS THE IDLE CONTROL VALVE. IT WAS CHANGED AT A COST OF $800. THIS DID NOT ALLEVIATE THE ISSUE. AFTER FURTHER TESTS, THEY DETERMINED IT WAS THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM). THIS HAD TO BE CHANGED BY AN INFINITI DEALERSHIP. WHEN I WENT TO THE DEALER, THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE THROTTLE CONTROL BODY AND WOULD COST $1300 TO REPAIR AND FIX THE PROBLEM. I INQUIRED IF THIS MEANT THE ECM WOULD NEED REPLACEMENT AND THEY SAID IT WOULDN'T. AFTER REPLACING THE THROTTLE CONTROL BODY, THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE MOTOR MOUNTS NEEDED TO BE CHANGED SINCE IT INTERACTS WITH THE THROTTLE CONTROL BODY AND ECM AND THE IDLE CONTROL VALVE TO MAKE IT ALL WORK PROPERLY. THIS WOULD COST AN ADDITIONAL $3900. AT THIS POINT, SINCE THE CAR'S BLUE BOOK VALUE IS LESS THAN $3000, IT NO LONGER MADE SENSE TO MAKE THE REPAIR BUT I DID HAVE TO PAY THE $1300 TO COVER THE COST OF THE REPLACED THROTTLE CONTROL BODY. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT THIS IS A WELL-KNOWN ISSUE TO INFINITI (AND NISSAN) AND THEY KNOW THE EXACT STEPS REQUIRED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. MY COMPLAIN IS THAT THEY DO NOT DISCLOSE THE FULL SPECTRUM AND COSTS OF THE REPAIR UNTIL AFTER THEY'VE HAD YOU PERFORM AT LEAST ONE OF THE THREE OR FOUR REPAIRS "NECESSARY TO UNCOVER THE FULL EXTENT OF THE PROBLEM" THEREBY ENSURING THEY GET PAID AT LEAST $1000 OR MORE JUST TO GET YOU ON THE HOOK FOR A LARGER BILL LATER. THIS IS ESSENTIALLY A BAIT-AND-SWITCH SERVICE SCAM AND I'M HOPING THE NHTSA TAKES THE MANUFACTURER TO TASK ON THIS AND ISSUES AN IMMEDIATE RECALL RELATED TO THIS SERIOUS ENGINEERING/DESIGN FLAW THAT REQUIRES SUBSTANTIAL COSTS TO THE CONSUMER TO REPAIR A KNOWN DEFECT IN THE VEHICLE.

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT. THE TIRE WAS REPLACED WITH A SPARE UNTIL THE TIRE WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE LOWER CONTROL ARMS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, WHICH CAUSED THE TIRES TO BLOW OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS MADE AWARE OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 02V146000 (SUSPENSION); HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 154,000.
