I am filing a formal safety defect report regarding a severe, non-functional Advanced Passenger/Pedestrian Emergency Braking (PEB) and Forward Collision Warning (FCW) system that has been completely inoperable ("INOP") since delivery of this brand-new vehicle. The vehicle has been subjected to four (4) independent, consecutive service repair attempts at authorized franchise dealerships with a complete failure to resolve the active safety hazard.Critical Evidence of Manufacturer Negligence: Corporate Techline Admission: On 12/2/24 (3,327 miles), factory technicians performed module updates but noted on the official invoice: "Issue persist. Contact Techline was told update coming." Corporate engineering knowingly discharged a defective vehicle back into public operation without a functioning collision avoidance system.Star Engineering Admission: On 5/15/26 (34,461 miles), following extensive factory hardware resets via the wiTECH diagnostic network and manual sensor/camera recalibrations, the safety defect persisted. Stellantis Corporate Engineering (Star Agent) explicitly ordered the dealership techs to return the malfunctioning vehicle to the consumer because it lacked an active Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC), stating the safety hazard was merely "currently under investigation."Current Grounded Status: On 6/8/26 (approx 36,000 miles), Certified technicians determined an instrument cluster needed ordered and legally "grounded" the vehicle on the dealer lot due to federal odometer rules. The vehicle is currently sidelined awaiting a backordered instrument panel cluster (IPC). Public Safety Impact: Stellantis is willfully ignoring a widespread component or software defect in its integrated digital instrument cluster and forward-facing camera arrays. By ordering dealerships to return vehicles with dead pedestrian emergency braking systems to consumers due to a lack of DTC’s, they are creating an immediate, severe hazard to occupants and pedestrians on public roads
Vehicle is a safety hazard my jeep compass stalks while driving or sitting in traffic without warning. After sitting at traffic lights jeep stutters and hesitates before going again. My 2022 compass has stalled on me a couple of different times since I have had it. The car is unsafe.
I purchased this car in August 2024 used. In April 2025 I took it to the dealer, Mc Peek Dodge in Anaheim for clicking noises while turning either direction and Drivers front side wheel sound like its wobbly. They replaced both half axles. Again the vehicle made the same noise about a month later. I took it back in May. They replaced them again. This year in May I took it back and had it for 2 days and never looked at it. So I called Jeep customer care and they said take it elsewhere. I went to Premiere Jeep in Buena Park. They kept it for a week and replaced the left half axle again. They said the wobbly noise must be from my brake rotor and wanted to charge me $550 to resurface and reinstall the same rotor. I declined since the noise is constant and not when I'm braking. The vehicle is again making the same noise. Especially when I'm turning left. Sounds like my wheel only has one bolt attached and falling off. The clicking noise from the steering is also still present. I'm afraid my tire or suspension is going to fail and cause injury to my family, commuters or myself. Jeep can't seem to fix this suspension and steering issue after 2 years and 3 times having the vehicle in service. This is costing me time from work and the cost of rental cars.
Everytime I drive my vehicle all the ADAS lights go off and start dinging. I then reset the ones I can in the vehicle settings and drive to my destination. I shut off the car and when I come back and start it all the lights come back on again. This has been happening since I purchased the vehicle a year ago with under 40000 miles and Jeep didn't help me and refused to fix the issue. I have made multiple complaints to Jeep and my local Jeep dealership and they have been no help.
Need another car or get my money back
The axle broke off suddenly on the front right tire, I was going approximately 60 miles per hour. This happened while driving in the middle of highway, it lead to the rest of tires to break abruptly. I was able to get to the emergency lane safely with last bit of speed before the car came to a complete stop. The engine did not turn off. I had it towed home through my insurance. It has not been serviced yet as it can not be driven or moved at all and I will have to tow it again to a service shop. I will bring it to a service shop to have it looked at once I can have it towed again so I can get a full diagnosis. The car did not making any prior noise, there was no warning on the dashboard it just happened suddenly and abruptly.
The truck just shuts off in the middle of driving
On 04/12/2026, I was stopped at a red light. The auto start/stop engaged. I removed my foot from the brake, the auto start kicked on, but did not reengage the engine. The notification panel suddenly started blinking, entire panel lit up. The parking brake automatically engage despite not being touched. The option for selecting terrain started toggling through all options. Vehicle then seemingly died. Put vehicle in park. Pressed button to restart engine. Car was successfully restarted.
I was hit on the driver side of my jeep and I was told by multiple EMS on the scene of the accident that my air bags should’ve went off
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The Powertrain/Engine Control System. The vehicle suffers from a total loss of motive power while driving in traffic. It is available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The vehicle unexpectedly enters "Limp Mode" while driving at various speeds in active traffic. When this happens, the accelerator pedal becomes completely unresponsive, forcing the vehicle to a crawl or a dead stop regardless of the flow of traffic around it. This creates a life-threatening risk of rear-end collisions and high-speed accidents, as the car cannot maintain speed or move to safety. I am forced to operate a vehicle that effectively "shuts down" while I am in the middle of the road. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. Multiple independent mechanics have confirmed the stalling and electrical instability. Despite replacing the crankshaft sensor and both batteries, the sudden loss of power in traffic persists. Shops have stated the issue is a manufacturer-level failure they cannot fix. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? It has been inspected by independent service centers. The manufacturer has not inspected it yet, as it is extremely hard to duplicate unless it is driven for a certain time at certain temperatures. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? The failure is temperature-dependent, occurring almost exclusively when ambient temperatures reach 71°F or higher. When the failure happens, the dashboard displays flashes the drive sign(limp mode). There are no other lights or anything triggered to display what the issue is related to. These symptoms began roughly one year ago, and has returned daily now that it is getting hot again.
Radiator has anti freeze smell when driven long periods of time or sometimes when at idol , also start /stop system not working properly when making a stop vechiel does not want to turn back on
Note: The vehicle is totaled, and GEICO Insurance is in possession. A month ago, we received Brake warnings. We brought the vehicle to a mechanic to get checked and it passed. We did not get the warning again. 2 weeks ago, while turning into our driveway, as we were almost stopped, but still in the turn, the vehicle made a noise similar to the Auto Stop/Start feature. The power brakes and steering stopped working (everything was stiff). The car accelerated, and we hit the corner of our garage (because we did not complete the turn into the driveway). The vehicle then hit a tree where it came to rest. The collision avoidance, didn't kick in. Unsure about the final speed of the vehicle, but it was fast enough to deploy the airbags and total the vehicle. There is a police report with the Closter, NJ Police.
Cars stalls at intersection and is had to restart. We have been disabling the auto start feature to avoid this potentially dangerous situation.
The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while driving up an incline at 78 MPH with the cruise control activated, the vehicle continued to accelerate while going downhill. There was no warning light illuminated. There was an abnormal sputtering sound coming from the vehicle while depressing the brake pedal; however, the vehicle continued to accelerate. The brake pedal was firm, and the vehicle continued to accelerate down a steep hill. While approaching a wide left turn, the contact deactivated the cruise control after an audible high-pitched sound came from the vehicle. After deactivating the cruise control, the contact was able to regain control of the vehicle and resume normal operation. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
Every time that I get into my Jeep there's an issue with the ADAS. Almost immediately once I pull onto the highway 3 warnings will appear on the dashboard display the first is: Blind Spot Temporarily Unavailable, then two orange triangles appear on my mirrors and will not go away. It also happens every time that I make a turn in my car. The next warning that appears is my Automatic Break System is available and "need servicing". My car has less than 12,000 miles on it and is practically brand new. After typing in these problems and doing a quick Google search along with a Reddit search it appears that this issue is widespread among Jeep Compass owners. Please fix this issue IMMEDIATELY! It's extremely dangerous as I have two children that I'm transporting every single day in my car.
Transmission jerks had in the shop three times for the same problem it feels like it's going to throw you through the windshield. It's been in the shop since October 23rd 2025 for several problems and the guy told me it was using oil.
The odometer cluster light is too dim and I can't see it during the daytime
I found a bolt head and a washer laying on my garage floor. After looking under the vehicle, it broke off from where the right side front cross member mounts to the bracket that attaches to the vehicle body. I took the vehicle to the dealer, they said the bolt was on back order and had no time frame when it would be available. They said that the vehicle was safe to drive because there were five other bolts holding it to the body. The dealer kept the bolt head and washer.
My 2022 Jeep Compass has been experiencing engine stalling/shutting off and problems with surging or jerking and cutting off. Surging forward when coming off the brake. Engine shutting down while stopped or at low speeds, at stop signs, or traffic lights. Jerking sensation, when slowing down or accelerating at low speeds. Me and my passengers have been at risk on several occasions of being rear ended or other collisions. I have ask the dealers (Sons Chrysler Jeep) service department to look at this issue on several occasions but they have said they cannot find any issues. My vehicle is currently at the dealer for this issue as it stopped 3 times in the past 2 days.
