Car was totally dead even with a 68% charge. AAA came out to jump start. The next day while driving on the highway the car started to lose power. A red warning to check the electrical system came on along with "turtle mode". I was able to pull over off the highway, grateful the two small children were not with me. Car was towed to dealer who kept it for the three days. Only after repeated calling could I reach someone who said they couldn't reproduce the problem. I'm afraid to drive the car at this point as I feel it's just unsafe to do so. This seems to be an ongoing issue that Kia can't seem to fix.
Rear tires on my 2024 Kia EV6 wore down to the tire wear-bar limit (2/32" remaining tread) at approximately 19,500 miles, while the front tires on the same vehicle measured roughly double that remaining tread (4/32") at the same odometer reading. The factory-installed tires are rated by the manufacturer for approximately 50,000 miles of tread life under normal use, so reaching the wear-out point on the rear tires alone at roughly 39% of that rated mileage is well outside expected wear for this vehicle at this mileage. This is not an isolated event: numerous other EV6 owners have independently reported the same front-to-rear wear disparity and premature rear tire wear online, across different driving styles and regions, which points to a vehicle characteristic (front/rear torque split, alignment or camber specification, or suspension geometry) rather than individual driver behavior. Uneven, accelerated rear tire wear reduces traction and increases stopping distance, and raises the risk of hydroplaning, tread separation, or blowout, particularly in wet weather, since the rear tires lose effective grip well before the front tires or before a typical maintenance interval would flag it. The wear was confirmed and documented, including tread-depth measurements at all four corners, by an independent third-party vehicle condition inspection performed at lease return. There were no dashboard warning lights or driver-facing alerts indicating the wear; it was only discovered through physical tread-depth measurement at that inspection. The tires inspection results are available upon request. This appears to reflect a design or specification issue affecting the vehicle's rear tires disproportionately, rather than a manufacturing defect isolated to one tire.
We purchased a certified pre-owned 2024 Kia EV6 GT on 6/5/2026. On 6/6/2026 while driving on city streets, the display screen suddenly displayed a large and flashing red warning message "Stop vehicle and check power supply" in addition to the battery symbol. We took the vehicle to the dealership and they diagnosed that the ICCU had failed and needed to be replaced.
Component: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/LOW VOLTAGE BATTERY, PROPULSION system:Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) Description: This vehicle previously had the mandated safety recall software update (Campaign SC327) applied by an authorized Kia dealership in December 2024 to protect the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU). The corporate recall remedy failed. In January 2026, the vehicle suffered a sudden, catastrophic loss of motive power while driving on a public roadway due to a total ICCU failure, which created an immediate hazard for myself and my young child who was inside the vehicle. When the primary ICCU component failed, it starved the low-voltage system, causing severe deep-discharge damage to the 12V battery. Following the warranty repair of the ICCU in February 2026, the vehicle was returned to me. However, Kia's official corporate diagnostic and repair procedures for this defect are fundamentally flawed and incomplete; they do not mandate a comprehensive load-test or automatic replacement of the 12V battery following an ICCU collapse. Because of this failure in the official repair procedures, the vehicle was returned to service with a critically compromised low-voltage system. This directly resulted in recurring battery warning messages over the subsequent months, culminating on May 29, 2026, in a secondary, total 12V battery failure that completely bricked the vehicle. The failure of the manufacturer's official safety recall remedy and the subsequent inadequacy of their post-failure service protocol left this vehicle in a chronically un-roadworthy and unsafe condition.
The contact owned a 2024 Kia EV6 and stated that while driving at 40 MPH, an elk suddenly appeared in front of the vehicle, resulting in a head-on collision that completely crushed the front end of the vehicle with no air bags deployed. The front end of the vehicle was crushed including the windshield. The vehicle continued with the elk after collision dragging it a couple yards ahead. The air bags did not apply. No waring lights were illuminated. No police report was filed. The contact was the only passenger during the collision. The contact suffered a sever neck issue and is not able to move his neck to the right, has chest pain and shoulder pain on both sides, and a head injury. Medical treatment is need but has not gotten any due to insurance issues. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 20,000.
Does not ac charge and no codes present
I had an ICCU failure on 4/12/26. I was fortunate enough to be close to home, so I was able to get back home before the vehicle dropped into reduced power mode. As has been reported many other places, I heard a loud pop and moments later a number or warning messages came up on the display. It was towed to the dealer the following day and has been confirmed to be an ICCU failure.
2024 Kia EV6 leased January 2025. Vehicle is subject to NHTSA Recall 24V-867 / Kia campaign SC327 for the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU). The recall remedy was performed at an authorized Kia dealer in July 2025 (software / operational logic update). The defect was not cured. Three months after the recall remedy was performed, the vehicle suffered complete loss of electrical power and would not move. It was towed to the Kia dealer. The dealer's own diagnostic recorded code P1A9096 — the exact diagnostic code Kia's recall instructs technicians to check for — and replaced the ICCU and high-voltage fuse. This is the recall-defined failure occurring AFTER the recall remedy was applied. Approximately three months later, the vehicle again suffered total loss of power and would not start in cold weather. It was towed in. The dealer replaced only the 12-volt battery and did not address the ICCU, despite the documented prior ICCU failure on this VIN. The 12V battery failure is a known downstream symptom of ICCU failure on this platform. Approximately one month after that, the vehicle returned for charging system failure ("vehicle charges briefly then stops") and a "check electrical/hybrid system" warning that appeared while driving. Diagnosed as charging port failure. Vehicle was out of service approximately 27 consecutive days. Total cumulative days out of service across four visits: approximately 35-40. Two safety-related stranding incidents resulted from these failures. Both occurred in winter conditions in Pennsylvania. In the first, the driver was stranded in a parking lot at night during a snowstorm in sub-zero conditions; three tow trucks were dispatched before a flatbed could recover the vehicle because the EV could not be towed conventionally with no power. In the second, the vehicle died in a school parking lot during a snowstorm; the first dispatched tow truck could not recover an EV with no power, and the driver had to walk multiple miles home in freezing
Vehicle display showed a message stating 12 volt battery was low and to pull over immediately, the car the died in a parking lot. I called KIA roadside service and they connected a battery pack to the 12 volt battery and got the car started. This could have been a serious problem if I was on travelling on a public street or highway and suddenly lost power.
Listing as all 3. ICCU/fuse went out, car decelerated to 45 MPH max and flashed a warning to pull over. The bottom left battery indicator for the 12v battery also changed to red, indicating it was not regaining power from the main EV battery. Currently in shop hoping to get part in soon
I was backing out of my driveway and backed into a vehicle parked directly behind me. The collision avoidance and emergency braking system should have stopped my car before impact but it did not. No sounds other than the normal backing up beeping. Proximity alert did not ping. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The safety feature of collision avoidance and emergency breaking did not work. No, the problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. No, the vehicle component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representative or other. The police were called to the scene, they just looked at the damage on both vehicles. No warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. They only appeared once on the day of the accident. I can confirm the backup collision avoidance worked after the incident since the emergency breaking stopped my car in a parking lot after the incident of the failure.
The vehicle’s ICCU unit stopped working out of the blue. This happened on a busy intersection and the car came to a sudden and violent halt. Luckily we were not involved in an accident. It’s a very well known issue with these vehicles and it’s really criminal that Kia has done nothing to fix it. They just change the ICCU unit and then it happens again.
Went to charge my vehicle in my garage on 4/15/26. When it was fully charged, I reached to disconnect the charger from the vehicle and the connector was hot to the touch; the charging hub on the vehicle was also hot, the charger had a slight plastic burning smell. I immediately tried to contact the company and learned that they had unbeknownst to me, ceased conducting operations in the US. So I ordered a new charger. I also tried it again on 4/17/26; and the heat was higher faster than it was on 4/15/26; so I hav disconnected the device and installed a new one. The electrician noted that the breaker was damaged and had to be replaced. I also recall, that a few months after the initial install of the charger, there was an incident where my wife saw sparks in the garage from the breaker and we heard a large pop; and then the charger went out. The company sent us a new one then that worked fine for a few years.
Issue was diagnosed as ICCU failure.
Known ICCU issue by manufacturer. While driving get alert on screen the check electrical system. Had to pull over and call tow truck for safety reasons. Charging system is not working properly and 12v battery can die at anytime.
I had just finished charging the vehicle overnight on a Level 2 charger at a family members home. After leaving the driveway and driving a few hundred feet, an error message showed on the vehicle screen saying "Check Electric Vehicle" system, and then later a second message that said to stop the vehicle. I immediately turned the car around parked it in the driveway again and called roadside assistance to have it towed to the Kia service center. The Kia service center confirmed that it was an ICCU (integrated charging control unit) failure, which they replaced 4-5 days later after ordering the part. These error messages were the first and only indicator of the problem, there were no smaller issues leading up to the issue. Because the failure happened within a block of a family member's home, I was able to get to safety. But it could have been a completely different situation had the failure occurred even a few minutes later when I was on the freeway.
Was backing out of a parking lot space when a loud popping sound was heard from the right rear portion of the car. Shortly after a check electrical system message was displayed and to pull over. Then eventually had a power limited message pop up after 12V battery charging status/condition was checked by roadside service. Would turn out to be the ICCU (Integrated Charging Control Unit) after dealership nearby (Peak Kia) was able to diagnose the problem. Unknown if the failed part is available for inspection. I wouldn't say my safety or others safety was put at immediate risk, but could have been since the car did eventually completely shut down right as I was able to get home only about 1-2 miles away. Vehicle was seen by dealership a few days later and as far as I'm aware are the only entity to do an inspection on the vehicle. No prior warning of any kind before the ICCU failed, and car had complied with all recalls that were supposed to prevent or at least reduce chances of ICCU issues.
After starting the car, a message displayed on dashboard "Check Electrical System." I tried driving the car out of the garage and then a message displayed to the effect of "Stop the car and check battery." I called the dealer and they said to have the car towed to them. After having the car towed to the dealer, they ended up replacing the Integrated Charging Control System (ICCU) and fuse. The danger is that the failure of this ICCU part could cause immediate loss of power when driving. Luckily, that didn't happen to me since I was only creeping slowly out of my garage.
Driving car and then all of the sudden a critical battery alarm appeared and I lost the ability to go above 23 mph. It ended up being the ICCU that needed to be replaced.
Was trying to drive EV. As soon as I pulled out of driveway it gave me a warning sign; to check electrical system/stop vehicle and check power supply. I couldn't drive car anywhere, had to get it towed to dealership. When tow truck arrived we couldn't turn car on, it had no power. Mind you, I had full charge on EV.
