TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SAAB 9-7X. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON STARTING HER VEHICLE, A FLAME EMITTED FROM THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR PANEL. THE FLAME THEN DISSIPATED AS WHITE SMOKE BEGAN TO EMIT FROM THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE FROM THE SAME AND RETRIEVE ASSISTANCE. HER CO-WORKER WERE ABLE TO ASSIST HER IN REMOVING THE DOOR PANEL OFF THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INJURED AS A RESULT OF THE FIRE. THE POLICE NOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT HER VEHICLE HAD BEEN INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V406000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, VISIBILITY). THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. SIDE AIR BAGS EXPLODED WHEN WE WERE TURNING AND RAN OVER A CURB AT ABOUT TEN MPH SPEED.
TAKATA RECALL I WOKE UP TO MY VEHICLE ON FIRE AND IT HAD BEEN OFF FOR OVER 8 HOURS. IT HAD BEEN PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY ALL NIGHT. WE HEARD A BANG FROM INSIDE THEN OUT NEIGHBOR BANGED ON OUR DOOR A MINUTE LATER SAYING MY VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. WE CALLED 911 AND THEY HAD TO COME AND PUT IT OUT.
A HEADLIGHT RECALL EXISTS FOR THIS MODEL BUT MY VIN NUMBER DOES NOT CONFIRM. MY HEADLIGHTS ARE FAILING WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. THERE SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE VIN ON THIS VEHICLE.
ONE HEADLIGHT GOES OUT WHILE DRIVING. IT CAN BE DRIVERS SIDE OR PASSENGER SIDE AS IT IS NOT SPECIFIC TO ONE SIDE OR THE OTHER. BOTH HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT AT THE SAME TIME DURING A NIGHT DRIVE. BY TURNING THE LIGHTS OFF AND BACK ON, THEY WILL USUALLY COME BACK ON. THERE SEEMS TO BE NO PATTERN OTHER THAN THEY JUST TURN OFF. SAAB STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR MY VEHICLES LIGHTING.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT, RECENTLY, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW WAS OPENED BY DEPRESSING THE SWITCH, BUT FAILED TO CLOSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE CONTACT RESEARCHED THE FAILURE ONLINE AT NHTSA.GOV AND FOUND THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V406000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, VISIBILITY) FOR THE SAME FAILURE SHE EXPERIENCED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE FUEL GAUGE ON MY VEHICLE BECAME FAULTY. THE METER WOULD WORK ONLY TILL HALF TANK AND AFTER THAT THE GUAGE WOULD GO STRAIGHT DOWN TO E OR EMPTY. FUEL SENSOR RECALL
NONE OF THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT ELECTRIC IS WORKING, AIR SUSPENSION DIED, NO LOW BEAM
FUEL GAUGE STOPPED REPORTING ACTUAL LEVEL OF FUEL IN THE TANK ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO. GUAGE REMAINS POINTED AT 1/4 FULL TANK LEVEL AT ALL TIMES. FORCED TO KEEP TRACK OF FUEL LEVEL BY RESETTING THE MILAGE TRACKER AT EACH TANK FILL-UP. WHEN MILES REACH AROUND 250 ITS TIME TO FIND A GAS STATION TO FILL UP AGAIN. HAVE RUN OUT OF GAS 5-10 TIMES IN THE LAST 2 YEARS. SEVERAL OF THE SUDDEN "OUT-OF-GAS" EVENTS WERE ALSO FALSE. VEHICLE HAD GAS, BUT ENGINE STALLED AS THOUGH IT HAD RUN OUT OF GAS. CAR WAS PULLED TO THE SIDE OF INTERSTATE AND COASTED TO NEARBY GAS STATION.
POWER DOOR LOCKS FUNCTION INTERMITTENTLY. SOMETIMES THEY ALL LOCK/UNLOCK, SOMETIMES NO DOORS LOCK/UNLOCK, SOMETIMES CERTAIN DOORS LOCK/UNLOCK. SOMETIMES THE WINDOWS OPERATE VERY SLOWLY AS WELL. I HAVE ONLY USED THE LOCKS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY, BUT I HAVE NOTICED THE WINDOW PROBLEM WHEN BOTH MOVING AND STATIONARY. THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE FOR OVER A YEAR, I CAN'T PINPOINT THE EXACT TIME IT FIRST HAPPENED, BUT IT IS AN ONGOING ISSUE.
MY FUEL GAUGE READ EMPTY AFTER I FILLED UP MY TANK. AFTER DRIVING FOR A FEW MILES MY SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON. IT WILL SPONTANEOUSLY READ FULL, THEN EMPTY THEN PARTIALLY FULL THEN NEAR EMPTY ETC ETC. IN RESEARCHING THIS TOPIC THIS SEEMS TO BE A WELL DOCUMENTED ISSUE FOR GM AND IT APPEARS IN THE LUCK OF THE DRAW NOW MY VEHICLE JOINS THE LARGE NUMBER OF VEHICLES WITH THIS ISSUE. I DON'T SEE A RECALL FOR THIS IN MY RESEARCH FOR MY 2007 97-X. IS THERE A BROADER SCOPE RECALL?? SOME SITES INDICATE A WILLINGNESS OF GM TO PAY HALF THE COST?? SEEMS ODD THAT IF THIS IS SOMETHING THAT IS COMMON AMONG GM VEHICLES WHY WOULD GM NOT HONOR A REPAIR OF A KNOWN FAULTY DESIGN??
LOW BEAMS FLASH ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING. THEY DO THIS ON SMOOTH AND BUMPY ROADS, AND WHILE SITTING AT STOP LIGHTS. SOMETIMES ONLY ONE GOES OUT. SOME TIMES IT IS THE RIGHT ONE, AND SOMETIMES THE LEFT, BUT SO FAR IT HAS ONLY BEEN ONE AT A TIME FOR ANY LENGTH OF TIME. TURNING THE LIGHTS ON AND OFF MAKES THEM BOTH COME ON FOR A SHORT PERIOD. THEN ON GOES OUT AGAIN.

THE DEALER DID NOT GIVE A SPECIFIC DATE FOR WHEN THE PART WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER COULD NOT PROVIDE AN ESTIMATED DATE FOR WHEN THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WOULD RECEIVE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.

THE DEALER DID NOT GIVE A SPECIFIC DATE FOR WHEN THE PART WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING, THE LOW BEAMS FAILED TO WORK. THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WITH A REPLACEMENT PART UNTIL THE PART FOR THE RECALL REPAIR WAS AVAILABLE. WE HAVE HEADLIGHTS THAT RANDOMLY GO OUT SINCE WE PURCHASED THIS CAR. IT WAS SERVICED TWICE FOR DRIVER SIDE FRONT DOOR MODULE. I EXPRESSED CONCERN BOTH TIMES ABOUT THE LIGHTS. RECEIVED LETTER IN JAN./15 FOR HEADLIGHT MODULAR RECALL - BUT NO PARTS AVAILABLE AT THAT TIME. NOW NOTIFIED THAT MY CAR IS NOT PART OF THAT RECALL. WELL THE LIGHTS STILL GO OUT PERIODICALLY AND WE HAVE TO DRIVE WITH THE FOG LIGHTS ON. THANK GOD NO ONE HAS BEEN INJURED. *TR
AS MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING IN ELON NORTH CAROLINA, BOTH HEADLIGHTS FAILED. SHE WAS ABLE TO GET THE HIGH BEAMS TO WORK. SHE TOOK THE CAR THE FOLLOWING DAY TO A GARAGE. THEY CONFIRMED THE LIGHTS WORKED INTERMITTENTLY. MEANING - THEY WOULD TURN OFF FOR NO REASON. WE CALLED SAAB, AT THE 800 NUMBER TO BE TOLD THAT WE HAD XENON LAMPS SO IT WAS NOT A RECALL ITEM. I EXPLAINED THE ISSUE WAS IDENTICAL TO WHAT HAD BEEN REPORTED ON OTHER MODELS. THE REPLY = GM HAD NOT TOLD US WE HAVE TO RECALL THOSE YET. SHE GAVE ME THE NAME OF A DEALER 30 MINUTES AWAY AND TOLD ME WE WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CHARGES. OK THAT IS FINE- BUT I HAVE A HARD TIME BELIEVING THIS IS NOT RELATED TO THE RECALL. READ THE POSTS ON THE INTERNET - IT IS ALL OVER IT FOR THE SAME ISSUE. SOMETHING IS WRONG AND SOMEONE IS GOING TO DIE BECAUSE OF IT. MY DAUGHTER WAS LUCKY. THE COMPRESSOR AND/OR SUSPENSION AIR BAGS FOR THE ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM BEGAN TO PERIODICALLY FAIL TO RAISE THE REAR PORTION OF THE VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED TO OCCUR PERIODICALLY ESPECIALLY WHEN THE TEMPERATURE FELL BELOW 35 DEGREES WHICH MADE ME SUSPECT WHETHER THE SYSTEM WAS BUILT TO WITHSTAND COLD TEMPERATURES OVER A PERIOD OF YEARS. CURRENTLY, THE COMPRESSOR AND/OR SUSPENSION AIR BAGS DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE ENGAGING CONSISTENTLY. I HAVE HEARD THIS PROBLEM FROM ENVOY AND TRAILBLAZER OWNERS AS WELL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE COIL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT ALSO NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS BURNING A LOT OF ENGINE OIL AND THERE WAS BLUE SMOKE COMING FROM THE EXHAUST PIPE INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
