FAULTY AND/OR TERRIBLE PLACEMENT OF THE RECTIFIER CAUSING MY BIKE TO OVERCHARGE THE BATTERY. I AM VERY LUCKY THE BATTERY DIDN'T CATCH FIRE OR EXPLODE. I HAVE REPLACED THE STATOR, RECTIFIER, AND BATTERY BEFORE BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM, BUT THIS TIME WAS A LOT WORSE. WHY HAS SUZUKI NOT RECALLED THE 07'S?? AFTER GETTING OFF THE THE INTERSTATE, RIDING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, I NOTICED A STRONG SULFUR SMELL WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE THE BATTERY. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE FIXED BY SUZUKI. THEY ARE VERY LUCKY SOMEONE HASN'T LOST THEIR LIFE BECAUSE OF THIS.
RECTIFIER AND STATOR PROBLEM. RIDING DOWN THE ROAD THE BIKE COMPLETELY TURNS OFF. PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT AND SMELL SMOKE. I LOOK AT THE RECTIFIER AND IT IS EXTREMELY HOT WITH A SMALL EMBER BURNING ON THE BACK OF IT. BIKE WILL NOT TURN ON ANYMORE. LOOKS TO BE A SIMILAR RECALL FOR BIKES MADE IN 07 AS WELL.
I'VE BOUGHT 2 BATTERIES, 2 STATORS AND 2 RECTIFIERS BECAUSE MY MOTORCYCLE CHARGING SYSTEM IS OVER CHARGING AND FRYING THE WHOLE CHARGING SYSTEM. IT CAUSES MY BIKE TO HAVE A VERY RAPID JOLT/LOSS OF POWER ALMOST THROWING ME OVER THE HANDLEBARS BECAUSE IT JUST FALLS ON ITS FACE AND DIES. THEN IT WON'T RESTART OR ANYTHING UNTIL THE PARTS ARE REPLACED! THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES TO ME IN THE 8 MONTHS I'VE OWNED THE BIKE AND I KNOW FOR SURE IT'S HAPPENED AT LEAST 1 TIME PRIOR TO ME PURCHASING IT..... THE TIMES IT'S HAPPENED TO ME I'VE BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 55-65 MPH.
BE CAUSE OF THE FACTORY LOCATION OF THE RECTIFIER BEHIND THE RADIATOR THE RECTIFIER WILL OVER HEAT AND BLOWUP CAUSING A SHORT IN THE ELECTRICAL OR CATCH ON FIRE RESEARCHING AND FINDING OUT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE THE MANUFACTURE SHOULD REPLACE THE RECTIFIER AND STATOR TO PROVENT DEATH WHILE RIDING THE MOTORCYCLE IF YOUR IN GEAR WHILE THE RECTIFIER FAILS THE BIKE WILL STALL AND STOP CAUSE IT WAS IN GEAR ALSO RELOCATE THE RECTIFIER TO A BETTER LOCATION.
REGULATOR RECTIFIER RECALL I BELIEVE THIS CONDITION TO BE CAUSED BY DEFECTIVE REGULATOR/RECTIFIER. THERE IS A RECALL FOR LATE 2007- 2008 MODELS, HOWEVER MY BIKE IS NOT INCLUDED. FAULTY ENGINEERING LOCATION BEHIND RADIATOR CAUSING OVER HEATING CONDITION IN ADDITION TO FAULTY ADHESIVE MATERIAL. BOTH HEADLIGHT AND HIGH BEAM BURNT OUT- OVER VOLTAGE CONDITION. IMPAIRING ABILITY TO DRIVE AT NIGHT. MAIN FUSE BURNT OUT- CAUSING NO START CONDITION.
I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE GOING 68 MPH WHEN MY MOTORCYCLE RPM'S STOPPED WORKING AND TURNED TO ZERO. I LOST POWER SUDDENLY AFTER BIKE JUST SHUT OFF IN THE LEFT LANE. I HAD TO PUSH BIKE ACROSS MOVING TRAFFIC TO GET TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF ROAD WITH SHOULDER TO STOP. BIKE WAS TOWED TO DEALER AND THEY SAY THE RECTIFIER WAS SHOT AND THIS IS A COMMON THING ON 06-07 GSXR 600/750 AND HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR ALONG TIME. WHEN THE RECTIFIER FAILED THIS CAUSED DISCHARGE OF THE BATTERY AND LEAD TO ENGINE STALLING. I ALMOST LOST MY LIFE WHEN BIKE SHUT DOWN WITH NO WARNING IN THE FAST LANE OF INTERSTATE. NO BATTERY LIGHT WARNING OR ANYTHING JUST ABANDONED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SUZUKI GSX-R600. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE ENGINE RESTARTED AFTER RECEIVING A JUMP FROM ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE SECOND TIME THE FAILURE RECURRED, THE VEHICLE DID NOT RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STARTER AND REGULATOR RECTIFIER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 11,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SUZUKI GSX-R600 MOTORCYCLE. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING AND FAILED TO RESTART. THE MOTORCYCLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE RECTIFIER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED AND SHUT OFF. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,500.
I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK WHICH IS 32 MILES FROM HOME. I NORMALLY TAKE A MAJOR HIGHWAY TO WORK WHICH I DID CAUSE IF I DID BREAK DOWN THERES ALWAYS CARS GOING BY TO HELP. I WAS DOING 70MPH WHICH IS THE SPEED LIMIT AND HALF WAY TO WORK MY GAUGES FLICKERED AND BIKE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF ON A 3 LANE HIGHWAY. SMELT LIKE SOMETHING WAS BURNING AND LOOKED AT RECTIFIER AND THAT WAS FRIED. IT WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION, ALMOST LOST MY JOB CAUSE I WAS ALMOST LATE FOR WORK. LUCKILY MY PARENTS HAVE A TRAILER TO HAUL BACK HOME. IF IT WAS DARK OUT I DONT THINK I'D BE ALIVE. IT WOULD BE GREAT IF I COULD GET THIS RECTIFIER PROBLEM TAKEN CARE OF THROUGH SUZUKI.
WHILE RIDING MY MOTORCYCLE LAST JUNE I TURNED ON THE BRIGHTS BECAUSE I WAS GOING THROUGH A DEER HEAVY NEIGHBORHOOD. AT 35 MPH MY BIKE LOST ALL POWER AND BIKE SHUT OFF. I PUSHED IT TO A FRIENDS HOUSE AND NOTICED A FUSE WAS BLOWN. I REPLACED THE FUSE AND STARTED IT AND THE REGULATOR RECTIFIER FAILED AND STARTED SMOKING AND TURNED RED HOT. IT GOT HOT ENOUGH TO MELT THE CENTER OF THE RECTIFIER AND BURNED PART OF THE WIRING HARNESS. I QUICKLY SHUT IT OFF BEFORE THE STATOR WAS RUINED. I REPLACED THE RECTIFIER WITH A HEAVIER DUTY MODEL AND HAVE HAS NO PROBLEMS SINCE. UPON LOOKING AT DIFFERENT FORUMS IT APPEARS THIS ISSUE IS FAIRLY COMMON SO I WANTED MY OCCURRENCE TO BE NOTED. *TR
I WAS RIDING MY BIKE AND MY BUDDIES BEHIND ME SMELLED A SULFUR SMELL RODE ABOUT 15 MORE MILES AND THE BIKE SHUT OFF PULLED IN TO PARK IT AND SEE WHAT HAPPENED AND THE SULFUR SMELL WAS 10X WORSE AND HAD TO TOW THE BIKE HOME. THE DASH WENT ALL CRAZY FLASHING AND SHUT ON AND OFF AND THEN AN F1 CODE POPPED UP. SO THE NEXT DAY I TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL MECHANIC AND MY BATTERY WAS BAD,HE SAID THE REGULATOR RECTIFIER WAS OVER CHARGING THE BATTERY. *TR
THIS IS THE 3RD TIME MY VOLTAGE REGULATOR/RECTIFIER HAS GONE OUT. GONE TROUGH 6 BATTERIES IN PAST 10 MONTHS. BIKE STALLED UNEXPECTEDLY FELL OVER AND PINNED MY LEG AGAINST MY RIDING FRIENDS BIKE SCRATCHED MOTOR AND THEN HAD TO BE TOWED HOME. *TR
I OWN A 2007 SUZUKI GSX-R600. THE MOTORCYCLE STALLED WHILE TRAVELING AT ABOUT 65 MPH WITHOUT ANY WARNING. I HAD THE MOTORCYCLE TOWED HOME. THE MECHANIC STATED THE REGULATOR COULD HAVE CAUSED THE FAILURE TO OCCUR. I WAS TOLD THERE WAS ONLY A RECALL RELATED TO 2008/2009 MODEL VEHICLES. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 20,989. *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SUZUKI GSX-R600 MOTORCYCLE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED FLAMES NEAR THE HANDLE BAR AREA, CLOSE TO THE CONTACT'S HANDS. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND EXTINGUISH THE FIRE USING WATER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE MECHANIC ADVISED THAT THE RECTIFIER HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THERE WAS A HOLE WHICH HAD MELTED THE RECTIFIER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11,000.

THE FACTORY SERVICE MANUAL LISTS THE TORQUE FOR THE REAR SPROCKET NUTS AS 67.5 FT-LBS. THE MOTORCYCLES WERE BUILD WITH THIS SPEC! THIS IS INCORRECT AND IS CORRECTED WITH A SUZUKI SERVICE BULLETIN(BUT NOT A RECALL TO CURRENT OWNERS!). DEPENDING ON THE LUCK, BUT PROBABLY YOU WILL JUST SHEAR THE THREADS AND END UP WITH A SPINNING LOOSE SPROCKET & NUT. A STUD CAN BREAK OFF THE SPROCKET UNDER PRESSURE AND CAUSE THE CHAIN TO BREAK FREE CAUSING A REAR WHEEL TO LOCK THUS RESULTING IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT, OR TO CUT THE RIDER'S LET LEG WHILE DRIVING AT A HIGH SPEED. THE CORRECT TORQUE FOR THE REAR SPROCKET NUTS IS 43.5 FT-LBS. *TR

MY SON SUDDENLY LOST POWER ON HIS 2007 SUZUKI GSXR600 MOTORCYCLE WHILE OPERATING AT LOW SPEED. TECHNICIAN FOUND AND REPLACED A BLOWN FUSE. A FEW DAYS LATER, THE SAME THING OCCURRED. THE PROBLEM FUSE WAS THE ONE RELATED TO THE FUEL PUMP. TECHNICIAN THEN DISCOVERED THE WIRE HARNESS HAD SHORTED OUT DUE TO BEING ROUTED TOO CLOSE TO THE "TENSIONER". MY SON SAID THIS POWER LOSS COULD BE FATAL IF IT WERE TO OCCUR WHILE DRIVING AROUND A CURVE AT HIGHWAY SPEED. I SEE THAT SUZUKI HAD A RECALL FOR A SIMILAR PROBLEM IN A 2006 MODEL: NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 05V566000. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU CONSIDER AN INVESTIGATION / RECALL FOR THIS DEFECT IN THE 2007 GSXR600 BEFORE IT CAUSES ACCIDENTS OR DEATH. *TR

SHE IS IN THE PROCESS OF NOTIFYING THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 11,000.

THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 95,971.
