I just bought a Used 2006 Suzuki Reno from a private seller 3 months ago. It has less then 53,000 miles on it so I thought I was getting a great deal. While driving it at night 3 weeks ago, I had my lights on high beam. A car was coming towards me so I flipped the light switch on my steering column. Which is also the blinker switch. And we almost wrecked head on with each other because when I flipped the switch to go to low beam there was no headlights. None whatsoever on low beam. I have driven on my street testing it to make sure it wasn't a 1 time thing. Or possibly my fault. If I have the low beam lights on when I first turn the lights on they work but go dimmer and dimmer as time goes by. And as soon as I flip the switch whether it's from High beam or low beam it's completely dark. No lights on low beam at all after flipping switch. But they work on high beam. I took it to my mechanic and he said there's a short/problem in the headlight switch/blinker switch on the steering column. I can't/don't drive it at night or anytime after 6pm to be safe. Also my mechanic has had to clear the driver side airbag light that has come on my dashboard 2 times. 1st time he thought it was because the service ingine light came on. He had to replace the cam shaft position sensor. Only a week later the airbag light came back on the dashboard. So off to the repair shop I went again, costing more money. He said he was able to clear it. But not for long. 3 days later it was back on. So I checked different options and took my car to a different repair shop. I was told then that this make and model car had issues with the airbag wire harness from the steering column all the way to how the wiring was ran to the front driver seat how it's to be connected under front driver seat. Causing damage to the airbag sensor & module. Son sold car to me after mom died. Told there's recalls for both, didn't know it or have done. 1 site said yes to car recalls another said no. ??? Help Please...
TRANSMISSION SLIPPAGE, FAILURE TO PROPERLY ENGAGE WHEELS/GEARS AND ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE. SOMETIMES RESULTS IN NO MOVEMENT; OR IT RESULTS IN MOVEMENT ONLY AT A SPECIFIC SPEED AND ONLY SHUTTING THE VEHICLE OFF OR KEEPING THE BRAKE APPLIED WILL STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE APPEARS TO BE CREEPING FORWARD W/O ANY FUEL RELEASED. OTHER ISSUES: SEAT BELT LOCKING DOES NOT REMAIN LOCKED. REPEATEDLY. THE VEHICLE IS DANGEROUS. ALSO, THE WIPER FLUID FAILS TO MAKE CONTACT WITH THE WINDSHIELD. EXTREMELY POOR VISIBILITY. NO FLUID SPRAYING ONTO THE WINDSHIELDS. WASHER PUMP WORKS FINE, FLUID ENTERS THE LINES, IT JUST DOESN'T COME OUT OF THE SPOUTS AND THERE ARE NO LEAKS. BRAND NEW BATTERY... SEEMS ALMOST DEAD TODAY. HEATER... THE ICE COLD AIR OUTSIDE IS NOW CIRCULATING INSIDE, FULL BLAST 30 - 40 MINUTES, NO HEAT. HEADLAMP BULBS JUST CHANGED (AGAIN). SEVERAL RECALLS ASSOCIATED WITH THE HEADLAMPS AND COMPONENTS THAT FACILITATE "LIGHT" ILLUMINATION FROM THE HEAD LAMPS. HAD THE ALIGNMENT CHECKED TWICE WITH TIRE TYPE CHANGES RECENTLY, THE PULLING I FEEL CONSTANTLY ON THE ROAD... APPARENTLY NOT THE ALIGNMENT, BUT MORE INDICATIVE OF TRANSMISSION ISSUES. IF I CAN MANAGE TO GET THE CAR MOVING , TO START AND MOVE SAFELY, I WILL BE GETTING FLUID EXHCANGES FOR COOLANT SYSTEM AND TRANSMISSION, AND THEN DIGEST SOME FEEDBACK FROM THOSE PROCEDURES, AND I MIGHT BE NEEDING TO GET THOSE AREAS FLUSHED AS WELL. THE ROADWAY DANGERS WHILE DRIVING WITH A VEHICLE THAT DOES NOT RESPOND ACCORDING TO GENERAL EXPECTATIONS (PRESS THE ACCELERATOR AND ENJOY AN INCREASE IN MOVEMENT SPEED, FOR INSTANCE). EVERYTHING REPORTED ABOUT THIS VEHICLE NOW BLARES LOUDLY AS WARNINGS, FIRE HAZARDS, AND GENERAL HAZARDS ASSOCIATED WITH FAILURE TO CONTROL SPEED, EVEN SAFETY BELT RESTRAINTS FAILING TO RESTRAIN "ANYTHING". SOMEHOW IT SEEMS LIKE THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE COMPELLED TO RECALL THE CAR FOREVER.
AIRBAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ON SINCE I PURCHASED THIS CAR APRIL 6TH 2016 AND DRIVER SEATBELT BROKE RECENT.JANUARY 29 2017 BOTH LOWBEAM HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT,THESE THINGS WERE RECALLED BUT THEY SAY MY VIN#DOESN'T MATCH RECALLS AND WON'T SERVICE OR HONOR THESE RECALLS! THANKS *TR
I CURRENTLY HAD MY TRANSMISSION GO OUT. IT DID NOT SHOW ANY SIGNS OF GOING OUT AND AND JUST KIND OF DIED TODAY.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE SWITCH CAUSED THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,000.
ON 04/21/15 ANOTHER INCIDENT WAS WHEN I WAS DRIVING TO THE HOSPITAL AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR DROPPED TO LESS THAN 20 MPH AND WOULDN'T ACCELERATE.I HAD TO PULL OVER WITHOUT POWER STEERING TO GET MY SON TO THE HOSPITAL. ON 5/04/2015 I WAS DRIVING MY CAR TO DROP MY SON OFF AT DAYCARE AND WHEN I STARTED MY CAR IT REVVED UP THE ENGINE ON ITS OWN FROM 2-3 RPM'S AND THEN IDLED AND I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND DROVE ABOUT 2 MILES AND THEN WHILE I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT I WAS STOPPED AND MY CAR JERKED FORWARD SLIGHTLY 2 TIMES AND YOU COULD HEAR THE CHANGE IN THE CAR THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT DIED. I WAITED ABOUT 4 MINUTES AND STARTED IT UP AGAIN AND IT GOT ME TO MY SONS DAYCARE AND THEN I SHUT IT OFF TOOK HIM IN AND WENT TO START MY CAR AND IT WOULDN'T START. AFTER WAITING FOR 3 MINUTES I TRIED AGAIN AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED ON MY WAY TO WORK. MY CAR DIED WHILE I WAS AT THE STOP LIGHT. THIS TIME I WAS ON A HILL AND MY CAR STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS BUT MY BRAKES WERE ON SO I DIDN'T HIT THE CAR BEHIND ME.THE LATEST INCIDENT OCCURRED WHILE I WAS ON THE FREEWAY AND I WAS GOING 65 MPH AND IT LOST POWER AND I SLOWED TO 20 MPH THEN MY CAR DIED THIS TIME IT TOOK ALMOST 15 MINUTES FOR ME TO START MY CAR. I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP 4 TIMES AND THEY REPLACED MY THROTTLE BODY, THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL, AND MY THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR. IT STILL DIDN'T STOP MY CAR FROM DYING. MY MECHANIC TOLD ME IT KEEPS LOSING THE SIGNAL AND THE SUZUKI DEALER IS SHUTTING IT OFF. I AM VERY SCARED TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE IN CASE I GET INTO AN ACCIDENT DUE TO IT CONTINUOUSLY DYING ON ME.
CAR WILL GO FROM DRIVE TO NEUTRAL WHILE DRIVING AND IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR 2 WEEKS OFF AND ON IT COMES AND GOES .I HAS HAPPENED WHILE ON A BRIDGE ,GOING UP A HILL,AND AS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY .
MY AIRBAG LIGHTS TURNED ON FOR MY DRIVER'S AIRBAG AND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. WE WE HAD THE CAR SERVICED, THE SENSORS UNDER THE SEATS WERE DISENGAGED. NO RECALL. A FEW MONTHS LATER THE LIGHTS CAME ON AGAIN FOR BOTH SEATS. WE WERE IN AN ACCIDENT THAT MONTH AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.

CLEARED CODES, TIGHTENED CONNECTOR UNDER PASSENGER SEAT (NO COST); LIGHT WAS OFF FOR ABOUT A WEEK THEN BACK ON. DEALER ADVISED I SHOULD JUST SNUG UP THE CONNECTOR UNDER PASSENGER SEAT TO RESOLVE INDICATOR LIGHT AND I DID THIS REGULARLY FOR SEVERAL YEARS UNTIL LIGHT WOULDN'T GO OUT ANYMORE. I BOUGHT MY CAR IN EARLY FEB, 2014, AND I AM ALREADY HAVING PROBLEMS WITH IT. I BOUGHT MY CAR FROM [XXX], AND WAS TOLD WHEN I BOUGHT IT THAT IT RECENTLY HAD BRAKE/TIRE/SYSTEM WORK DONE, BUT THEY REFUSED TO LET ME KEEP A COPY OF THE BILL FOR SAID WORK. WHEN SHOWED THE CAR, THERE WERE DENTS AND SCRATCHES ON THE CAR, BUT I WAS TOLD THE CAR HAD NOT BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENTS. WHEN I RECENTLY USED CARFAX TO CHECK THE HISTORY OF THE CAR, IT HAD 15 REPORTS ON IT. [XXX] ALSO SOLD ME INSURANCE FOR MY CAR, WHICH I WAS TOLD WOULD COVER NEARLY BUMPER TO BUMPER, BUT IT SO FAR HASN'T COVERED ANYTHING THAT HAS GONE WRONG WITH THE CAR. STARTING THIS SUMMER, I HAD TO REPLACE ONE OF MY TIRES BECAUSE IT WAS DRYROTTED AND ABOUT TO EXPLODE. THE OTHER TIRES ARE DRYROTTING AS WELL, AND ARE CERTAINLY NOT NEW LIKE I WAS TOLD. THE BRAKES SQUEAK WHEN GO TO USE THEM, I'VE ALREADY HAD TO BALANCE THE CAR, AND THE BACK ALIGNMENT IS COMPLETELY OUT. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON IN LATE JUNE, AND AFTER GETTING A DIAGNOSTIC, I WAS TOLD IT WAS A SENSOR. WHEN LOOKING ONLINE TO ORDER THE PART (SINCE THE INSURANCE DOESN'T COVER THAT EITHER), I LEARNED THAT I ALSO NEEDED TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY. I CALLED UP SUZUKI TO DOUBLE CHECK, AND THEY CONFIRMED IT. SUZUKI ALSO TOLD ME THAT THEY HAD STOPPED MAKING THAT PART ALTOGETHER, EVEN THOUGH THE CAR MODEL IS 8 YRS OLD. BECAUSE THE SENSOR OR PART IS BAD, I FEAR WHEN I DRIVE OVER 55 MPH BECAUSE AT TIMES THE CAR WILL STOP ACCELERATING (ALMOST LIKE I WENT ON CRUISE CONTROL, WHICH MY CAR DOES NOT HAVE), AND I HAVE TO LET OFF THE GAS AND REAPPLY THE GAS TO GET MY CAR TO GO FASTER. IN MAY, I RECIEVED/HEARD THE RECALL NOTICE FOR MY CAR. I GOT A LETTER IN JUNE FROM SUZUKI THAT THEY STILL DID NOT HAVE THE PART FOR MY CAR, AND WOULD SEND A LETTER WHEN THEY GOT IT. MY 2006 RENO HAS HAD AIRBAG LIGHT ON ALL THE TIME FOR YEARS . IT HAS BEEN RESET MULTIPLE TIMES , ONLY TO COME ON AGAIN . WHAT'S ENTIRELY WRONG WITH THE CURRENT AIRBAG RECALL THAT THE NHTSA IS CURRENTLY HAVING IS THE FACT SUZUKI ( GM ) IS TRYING TO SAY IT ONLY EFFECTS GRAND VITARA'S AND SX4'S . I BEG TO DIFFER . THIS COMPANY NEW ALL ALONG THE AIRBAG PROBLEM EXISTED , JUST CHECK SOME OF THE OLD SUZUKI PROBLEM BULLETINS 4&5 YEARS AGO . AND IT'S NOT ONLY 290,000 VEHICLES AND/OR ONLY 2 MODELS . THIS RECALL SHOULD ABSOLUTELY BE INCREASED TO COVER RENO'S , FORENZA'S ETC; . THESE COMPANIES DON'T BUY SEPARATE AIRBAG COMPONENTS , THEY BUY BULK ( ITS JUST COST EFFECTIVE .) ANY FIFTH GRADER KNOWS THAT . AGAIN THIS RECALL NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO MUCH FURTHER THEN 2 VEHICLES . THE CHECK ENGINE CAME ON, AND I HAD A DIAGNOSTIC DONE. IT SHOWED ONE O2 SENSOR WAS NOT GOOD. IT WAS REPLACED. AFTER ONE WEEK THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, AND ANOTHER SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ABOUT TWO WEEKS LATER, THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, AND THE TEST SHOWED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS WAS REPLACED. TWO MONTHS LATER THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, AND IT SHOWS THAT BOTH THE O2 SENSOR AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEED TO BE REPLACED. NONETHELESS, THE CAR PASSED THE EMISSIONS TEST, BUT THE LIGHT IS STILL ON, AND THE DIAGNOSTICS STILL READ THE SAME; THE O2 SENSOR AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE ACCELERATION NOW HAS PROBLEMS. SOMETIMES, THE CAR WILL HIT 3-4 RPM WHILE THE ACCELERATION IS AT 40 MPH AND WILL NOT GO HIGHER. SOMETIMES, I HAVE TO PULL OVER BECAUSE A "BURNING RUBBER SMELL" IS EMITTED FROM THE ENGINE AND COMES INTO THE CAR THROUGH THE VENTS. THE MILEAGE NOW IS ABOUT 96500. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 121,437.
