The contact owns a 2024 Acura Integra. The contact stated that after pulling into a self-service car wash vacuum bay, the contact started drying the vehicle. The contact dried both the passenger-side front and rear doors, the trunk and the driver-side rear door. While drying the driver-side front door, the vehicle suddenly moved unintendedly about 15 ft. The contact grabbed the door frame and was eventually able to bring the vehicle to a stop, preventing a crash or injury. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact was initially informed that a manufacturer field technician would need to inspect the vehicle; however, the contact was later informed that the manufacturer had sent instructions on how to service the vehicle, which the contact deemed unsatisfactory due to the safety risk. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle had previously rolled after being parked and turned off, with the parking brake engaged. There was no warning light illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that the TPMS reading had failed to display, the collision mitigation braking system had engaged erroneously, and the windows had rolled up and down unintendedly. The contact also stated driving at 5 MPH in a parking lot, an abnormal booming sound emanated from the passenger's side of the vehicle. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and filed a case. The failure mileage was approximately 4,558.

Vehicle: 2024 Acura Integra Affected Component: Steering Gearbox Assembly / Electric Power Steering (EPS) Related Recall: NHTSA Campaign Number 24V-744 / Acura TSB 24-054 Description of Incident: My vehicle is actively experiencing the dangerous "sticky," heavy, and "notchy" steering defect outlined in NHTSA Campaign 24V-744, which causes a sudden increase in steering effort at highway speeds. The authorized franchise dealership previously performed the initial recall remedy (grease/spring kit replacement). However, this remedy completely failed to resolve the underlying manufacturing defect, and the hazardous steering behavior persists, making the vehicle unsafe to operate. Because I live on an isolated island with only one authorized Acura franchise facility, I have no alternative dealership options. The local dealership management and the visiting Acura Field Technical Specialist are formally refusing to diagnose, evaluate, or replace this defective steering rack. They are using the presence of an unrelated, aftermarket air suspension modification—which was installed after the failed recall attempt and does not physically obstruct the steering gearbox assembly—as a pretext to deny federal safety recall resolution and standard warranty repair. The manufacturer is failing to provide a successful remedy for an active, critical safety hazard. Furthermore, the local franchise facility has ordered me to remove this unsafe vehicle from their property, creating a severe safety risk. I am requesting immediate NHTSA intervention to ensure the manufacturer provides a complete and effective steering rack replacement as required by federal law.

I purchased this car 2 weeks ago and noticed when I drive over 45 mph the steering wheel kind of freezes up and shakes. A warning sign pops up that say steering required and has a symbol of a steering wheel with hands on each side of it. This lasts for about 10 seconds or so, then goes away. Feels really scary like I could get into an accident. This is the first place I have reported the problem to.

Approaching overhead signs with ACC engaged activates the emergency breaking. The digital cluster indicates the presence of a vehicle directly ahead and responds to avoid a possible collision.

I was driving in the left lane of a divided highway, using the adaptive cruise control while passing another vehicle in the right lane. The collision warning light came on, and the brakes were automatically applied. The road was straight, and the car I was passing was the only car ahead of me. I believe I was almost hit by the car tailgating me at the time.

Car completely shuts off pulling into traffic randomly while still rolling. Car completely shuts off randomly while in reverse and continues to roll until brake is used. Dealership cannot diagnose problem. The car is presenting a very dangerous hazard while rolling into traffic randomly and while in reverse.

This is an ongoing issue regarding this vehicle's steering where it can become very hard to turn the steering wheel when going highway speeds. I tried calling a dealer and corporate, and they both told me that parts are not available and I have to wait.

Body 1

The steering on this vehicle began feeling sticky intermittently, not every trip starting 7/31/2024. Since then it has become more and more of an issue. The sticky steering is most noticeable on the interstate when trying to recenter the steering wheel after going around a curve. More so when straightening from a left turn. I had researched, just after leasing the vehicle, and saw this was an issue on 2023 models. Nothing has happened until about 10,000 miles on my odometer. It has become prevalent during every trip taken now, including on secondary roads at lower rates of speed. A service appointment was scheduled with my dealer, a couple of days prior to the recall. I was advised to bring it in, as the recall had not been announced at that time. When I took it in on 10/15/2024, the dealer shared there was nothing they could do at this point, didn’t even inspect it or look at it, as it is too early in the recall and they had not been told how to fix it. They also shared it could be months before something could be done. I am writing to document this issue, should there be an incident, and share that it is a little unnerving to drive a vehicle that could potentially cause an accident and have a dealership say there is nothing they can do and that I should continue driving the vehicle… No lights, warnings, etc have come on in association with this issue.

The steering wheel got sticky you have to make extra effort something is bad because is a new car and Acura don't make a recall when the new civic already have a recall and share the same chasis

Sticky steering, when trying to make small adjustments the steering wheel feels locked and takes more of a rotation to get it “unstuck”. This causes me to look like I’m swerving almost just trying to make a small adjustment to the steering wheel.

The steering wheel locks momentarily at cruising speed of 35-45 MPH. This results in the need of over or under compensating the steering with extra effort. The steering is generally locked in the same position and it also frequently moves the direction of the vehicle to the point that I fear this is a severe safety issue.

When in REVERSE the passenger mirror dips to give a better view of the curb. Once the vehicle is taken out of REVERSE the mirror does not return to the original position. I have had the vehicle in the dealership and they say they cannot reproduce the error. I have brought it in with the mirror in the dipped position. I have shown them videos of the mirror as it dips and then as it fails to return to the original position.

After driving on longer drives the steering becomes "sticky" off center. Looses its smoothness of operation. Usually does not occur on shorter drives, but, the longer you drive the more prevalent the problem becomes. This is my wife's car and I had not driven it for a while, as I was driving it the problem manifested itself. As soon as I said something to my wife, she said she had noticed it as well. Upon a suggestion from a auto tech friend I turned off all the electronic nannies, but, the problem is still there.

My car only has 3725 miles. In some occasions, after a while of driving at highway speeds, steering requires a noticeable increase in the amount of force needed to turn the wheel for small corrections or turning. It feels like the wheel is stuck. After turning the wheel a couple of times, like when you take an exit to get off the highway, the steering wheel starts behaving normally and smoothness returns.

Steering doesn’t want to turn occasionally and additional effort is required to turn the steering wheel, followed by sudden minimal effort. Had this issue since beginning. I thought lkas was correcting the car to go straight. But that is not the case
