Air conditioning problem . Ac shuts down after several hours . Has happened to numerous other Genesis cars .
My starter failed. I took it to a triple AAA authorized mechanic. He did a full diagnosis of the entire starting system and determined that the starter needed to be replaced. He noted that water caused it to fail.
Oil cooler housing leak same issues with Hyundai/kia class action
Engine engine undercover is not on the vehicle
The AC system on this car, and seems series of years is widely known to have major issue, as is the case with mine. I'm having issues with the dealer telling me the car is out of warranty 35k miles, 2019 year. Based on researching and talking with other owners they are also having similar issues, AC not cooling well, hot on some vents, works for a time period then stops, etc.
CAR COME OUT OF ALLIGNMENT CAUSE ECCESIVE WEAR ON INSIDE OF REAR TIRES. CAUSED BLOWOUT ON THE INTERSTATE THAT ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. BLOWOUT THEN CAUSED DAMAGE TO WHEEL SENSOR THAT CAUSED CAR TO LOOSE POWER STEERING. REPAIR COST IS ESTIMATED A $9000.00 REPAIR. I GET OIL CHANGE & SERVICE INSPECTION BY GENISIS HAD ALIGNEMENT DONE BY DEALERSHIP AND & REPLACED TIRES 2 TIMES BEFORE BLOWOUT. MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN
My concern for this vehicle is the panoramic sun roofs / moon roofs. I am hearing a lot of crunching, grinding, cricking, binding coming from panoramic sun roof. Sounds like it’s the assembly and glass making noise while driving, Turning into and out of driveways, going over speed bumps, pot holes, etc. My concern is will the sunroof shatter while I’m driving, will it hold up during an accident? This is a safety concern and hazardous. I only have 34000 miles on this car. Multiple people that have/had genesis with panoramic/ moon roofs are/had issues with the same area.
I took my car in to have a recall repair completed. A relay kit was added to the engine compartment and my car has not operated the same since. When I start my car now it idles rough and is making noises that it wasn’t making before. When I accelerate my car stalls and is sluggish. Also when I accelerate my car stalls and speeds up uncontrollably, which is a concern for safety. I’ve contacted the dealership where this repair was completed and told them all the issues I’ve been having since the repair was completed. They keep stating that there is nothing wrong. I’ve spoken with Customer Relations and the Regional Manger only to get no assistance. I’m concerned about my safety and how this repair will affect my extended warranty because my engine has been altered. I wasn’t having any of these issues until this repair was completed and the dealership seems not to care or taking this seriously. The Regional Manager didn’t call me back until maybe a week or so after I kept constantly calling and advising that I was going to go to the news and get a lawyer. This issue has not been resolved.
Power trunk latch failed. Unable to open trunk. Inside trunk manual safety release latch failed to open trunk. If a child got trapped inside trunk they would be unable to escape. Dealer advised the power trunk release latch failed. Advised thr repair part # 81230-B1010 Latch assembly trunk lid $637.90. Repair labor cost $540.00 The dealer stated they accessed the trunk by removing the rear seat of the vehicle. Which shows the the failed trunk latch and inability to exit via the manual safety release latch is a potential safety issue.
At just 41,000 miles, the oil pressure sensor has failed. There are many on-line reports of this issue going back several years for the Genesis G80 sedan. It appears this is NOT covered under the 10 yr/100,000 mile warranty and is only covered by the 5 yr/60,000 mile warranty. In my case, this part failed almost 5 years to the day. It is unreasonable that the owner should get stuck with a $1000+ repair bill for a part that has a well known failure reported over and over. This should be a free repair.
Oil pressured sensor went bad $2500 fix from dealer. In Korea this is a recall. The Genesis forums are full of complaints regarding same issue. The factory should cover this but the 10 year 100000 mile warranty does not cover it since it is considered an electrical part.

Recall number 1 from 2022 was just complete at Homer Skelton Hyundai in Olive Branch Mississippi on around [XXX]. Now this 2024 recall which is major involving over 30,000 vehicles as of today with the fire hazard is very very suspect. I received a letter 5 months ago and have not been able to drive my car because I may die. THAT'S THE TRUTH. Genesis has ceased all communication with myself and countless others, have not found a resolution and has directed us not to reach out to them again. They will not provide a rental car not any assistance and options. I want to speak with an Attorney. My daughter purchased this vehicle not even a year ago, paid cash for it and I only drove it less than 3 months. Genesis has billions I'm sure and they should not be able to get away with this. Just greedy and do not care. If those Asian Engineers can scam upon all kinds of secrets and violations with the United States I'm sure they can find a solution to this they are just trying to be cheap. I am furious that I have to ask people to take me everywhere for over 5 months. Being a woman of a particular age and on disability. What are the next steps? [XXX] ....... The contact owns a 2019 Genesis G80. The contact stated that upon the vehicle sitting for as little as 24 hours, the AGM battery would abnormally drain, describing the issue as parasitic electrical drain. After having the battery recharged, the failure would recur. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or independent mechanic. The contact was unable to get in contact with the local dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the cause of the failure, the contact related the failure to Manufacturer Campaign: (#902G Auxiliary Charcoal Canister Kit). The manufacturer was notified, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 19,000.
Randomly, infrequently when driving at highway speed with both hands on steering wheel get alarm and message to keep hands on steering wheel. I momentarily release and re-grip steering wheel and sound and message eventually disappear. No pattern as to when this occurs except at highway speeds.
