There has been multiple times that my 2019 passport has had the “brake” indicator pop up on my dash telling me to brake when there is nothing there I mean like a completely empty road. There has been a handful of times that it has actually stopped my car like slammed the brakes when there is nothing around or a couple times when a car was passing on the other side of the roadway. This has happened multiple times with someone driving behind me and I fear it could cause a crash due to the car randomly braking so hard.
The safety features connected to the rear view mirror and vehicle sensors malfunctioned. The Adaptive Cruise Control, Collision Mitigation System, Road Departure Mitigation, Lane Keep Assist and High Beam - brake system - have stopped working. It was diagnosed as an internal failure of multipurpose camera. I have noticed there have been a lot of complaints of this failure. My car doesn’t have that many miles on it and isn’t that old. It seems like a defect in the car.
It is available for inspection upon request and I’m not sure as what is happening to it. My an others safety was put at risk when my vehicle suddenly lost power an would not accelerate no matter how much I pressed on gas pedal during driving on a highway there was significant hesitation an would go then act up again it has happened intermittently for over a year now . I have brought it to the attention of Honda dealership and the headquarters a nothing has been done. They claim no light no act up for them . Light came on once no codes and message of an emissions system problem as well then was cleared an no fix. I chance it every time I go out because they refuse to do a better job of testing it. I suggested it may be the fuel injectors because many vehicles have had same problems a were recalled but my my vin was not apart of it. Sadly. Seems it’s a uphill battle to be taken seriously in this matter.
I purchased this vehicle at the end of February 2026. Since the purchase this vehicle has on numerous occasions for no reason applied the brakes and made the steering wheel shake. This has almost caused an accident on several occasions, with today another instance on 5-23-2026. I would turn the system off but from what I understand it re-engages itself after every drive. I like the vehicle but im afraid that its going to cause an accident or someones death. Had I known that I couldn't permanently turn off this dangerous system i would have never bought it and bought a Lexus SUV instead. Honda should give their customers who want to turn this system off a way to do so.
The safety features connected to the camera and vehicle sensors have all stopped working. Every time I start my car, multiple lights come on and dashboard messages that cruise control, lane assist and collision prevention systems are not working. The dealership quoted me $2300 to fix and said new sensors/computer system would need to be put in and calibrated. I tried putting a new battery in, which unfortunately did not help. I have heard of multiple other Passport drivers having this issue.
04/10/2026 at around 8am and 04/14/2026 at around 7pm - At both times, car stopped at red light. Auto start-stop shut off car engine. When light turned green and stepped on gas, engine shut down and warning lights came on. Car was still in “drive.” Had to push “park” button and then started engine.
MY 2019 HONDA PASSPORT WITH JUST OVER 100K MILES JUST HAD COMPLETE TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THE CAR WAS RUNNING FINE AND HAS REGULARLY HAD RANDOM HARD SHIFTS SINCE THE DAY I GOT IT AND IVE BROUGHT THE ISSUE UP TO THE DEALER EVERY TIME IT IS BROUGHT IN FOR SERVICE. THEY ALWAYS TELL ME THEY CANT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. AFTER JUST DRIVING TO GET MY CHILD FROM SCHOOL AND COMING HOME PARKING MY CAR AND RUNNING INSIDE THE CAR WAS FINE. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS SYSTEM LIGHTS OR WARNINGS THAT SOMETHING WOULD GO WRONG. BUT I GO BACK OUT 10 MINUTES LATER TO TURN IT ON AND THE ENGINE STARTS AND IDLES FINE BUT THERE IS AN ERROR ON THE SCREEN SAYING TRANSMISSION PROBLEM AND THE CAR WONT GO INTO ANY GEAR. I HAD THE CAR TOWED AND THE DEALER DOES NOT YET KNOW HOW MUCH ITS GOING TO COST. THEY HAVE HAD IT FOR 3 DAYS NOW AND WONT TELL ME EXACTLY WHAT PART OF THE TRANSMISSION FAILED, HOW IT FAILED, OR WHAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED IT. I WAS ONLY TOLD THEY ARE WAITING TO HEAR FROM PARTS AND ITS GOING TO BE PRICY! FOR SUCH A YOUNG CAR IT SHOULD NOT NEED THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED AT THIS POINT IN ITS LIFE. THIS IS A MANUFACTURE ISSUE AND SHOULD BE REPLACED BY HONDA. THIS WILL CAUSE MAJOR ISSUES FOR PEOPLE LIVING THEIR EVERYDAY LIFE PAYCHECK TO PAYCHECK. I DONT HAVE MONEY TO PAY FOR SUCH AN EXPENSIVE FIX! I JUST PAID IT OFF.
The part that malfunctioner is the auto start from stop. I was at the Park and XXX light In [XXX] . My car would not start after I got to the stoplight. The auto start did not work. Important to share, this happens at least two or three times a day in my vehicle. Many times when I come My vehicle will not start on its own. I was traveling over HighwayXX headed toward [XXX] , traveling has seen a 50 miles an hour when my 2019 passport Auto braked without me putting my foot on the brake. when this happened, the Car Fish tailed towards the center divide, almost hit the cement divide, and I had to correct my steering four times in order to avoid traffic, or crashing into a forest of mature trees. Because of these multiple corrections that I had to make, I ended up swerving in and out of both lanes and my car was out of control for a significant amount of time. It almost hit the center divide of Highway 17. At one point, I was at 180° angle, almost going the other direction. The auto braking of this vehicle, almost got me killed. The contact owns a 2019 Honda Passport. The contact stated that while driving at slow speeds, the transmission was shifting hard. The Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, transmission, and auto high beam warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where a transmission flush was performed; however, the failure persisted. The dealer performed a diagnostic scan and retrieved DTC: U0104 and U0104-00. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 56,200.
My instrument cluster lite up all kind of problems like road departures mitigation systems problems, transmission problems, brakes system problems, collision mitigation systems problems, auto high beams problems, lane keeping assist problems and adaptive cruise control problems.
Even after recall repairs the vehicle continues to randomly display error messages with vehicle systems while driving. It has been cleared several times and battery changed but continues to return. This model has serious issues with the electrical components.
Every so often, while waiting at a light, once I try to press the gas, the car will stall and loses power. It takes me turning the car off and back on several times before getting the car to stay on and accelerate.
My Fuel pump recall was fixed on 06/17/2021 at 40543 Miles. On 12/8/22 at 56361 miles, my vehicle wouldn’t start and I got the battery replaced with the assumption that it was the battery. On 4/30/25 at 102,298 miles, I got my spark plugs replaced in hopes to resolve excessive cranking/ hard start issues I’ve been having since the recall. To my fault, I should’ve made a bigger complaint on the hard start issues but didn’t think anything of it thinking it’s normal. On 12/30/2025, at 119,186 miles, I went in for a routine maintenance oil change, but replaced my battery based on recommendation also on hopes to resolve excessive cranking issues I’ve been having. On 1/3/2026, my vehicle wouldn’t start when I went out of town. Main reason I took it into service the week before was to make sure I don’t have any issues when I’m out at a foreign place and it did at a sketchy gas station putting my family in danger. On 1/7/2026, my vehicle wouldn’t start again. I took it in to Atlantic Coast Honda on 1/9/26 and they were able to replicate the issue but was told that they couldn’t do anything else. I complained to them that I didn’t feel comfortable driving my family around and also driving to far places for work but was told my vehicle has tested better since it was replicated when I brought it in. On 2/20/26, my vehicle wouldn’t start again. I brought it in on 2/21/26 for them to look at it again. I get a notice on 2/23/26 on the service recommended, and it’s to replace the fuel pump for $1398.71. I told them that I refuse to pay that amount when it was replaced based on a recall, and the part replaced is not even over 100,000 miles. Also the fact that I’ve had issues on starting the vehicle for a while and I’ve committed to replacing the battery twice, changing out the spark plugs in hopes to resolve my vehicle issues. This situation has put me in a bind putting me, my family, and other drivers in danger when I drive a vehicle that might stop working any time.
Radio/Screen/Back-up camera do not turn on or turn off randomly and unexpectedly when driving. Usually receive a crackling sound and a MOST off network message before black screen. Upon initial start up of vehicle, a driver sets car to reverse relying and expecting a functional view of rear camera on screen. This issue makes backing up safety features unreliable.
while driving the instrument panel went off for several seconds there is a recall for 2019 Passports for this issue but not my VIN
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Passport. The contact stated that while driving 80 MPH on the interstate, the instrument cluster briefly went blank. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, and it was determined that the instrument cluster and cable needed to be replaced. The contact was provided an estimate for the repair, but the vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V439000 (Back Over Prevention, Electrical System); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 56,000.
My vehicle has experienced multiple dangerous incidents where it shuts down or shifts into neutral while driving. This has happened on highways, tunnels, busy on-ramps and main streets. The car loses power and requires restarting, which takes about 30 seconds. On a busy highway or street, this is enough time for a serious accident to occur if other vehicles cannot switch lanes on time. This has happened multiple times with my child in the car, and me being currently pregnant. The vehicle has never given me a warning prior. The issue appears to be related to the Auto start/stop system and/or electrical drivetrain controls. the vehicle is unsafe to operate because the driver can forget to disable auto start/stop and the car can suddenly lose power in traffic. There was also a separate incident (in between the multiple incidents above) where I was on the highway, my car accelerated, brakes wouldn't work, and my foot wasn't on the gas. the car then shifted to neutral and the only way I could stop was by shutting it off and moving to the breakdown lane. There have been two repair attempts. The first repair was done in 2024 after the initial loss-of-power incident related to the auto start/stop feature. In this repair, the battery was replaced and I was told a full diagnostic was run and the car was safe to drive. On 11/11/25 the serious incident with acceleration/ loss of brake function on the highway occurred. A full diagnostic was run and the transmission was replaced under warranty. However, a month after the transmission replacement, the loss of power issue returned. It has now been at least 4 incidents since the transmission was changed. I reported this to Honda corporate and received a case number, but despite multiple attempts to receive an update over the past 2 months, I have not been contacted by Honda, and no resolution has been provided. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle and no longer trust further repairs.
Front camera that is needed for all of the lane sensing, Cruise control, lane keep assist malfunctions. This camera is needed to operate all of these safety systems. I’ve seen many blogs with drivers saying they have a similar issue. The fix is $1800.
The lane keep assist camera internally faulted and intermittent tries to work but will immediately fault out. Lights will show for adaptive cruise, lane departure, and collision avoidance. Code shows internal fault and is shown in bulletin to replace. Happened begining of 2025 like most other people.
