2019 Honda Pilot

The windshield camera stopped working for no reason. Now I’m getting multiple warnings on my dashboard as most of the safety features stopped working when the camera failed. I’ve only owned this vehicle for 7 years. The dealer said that i will need to spend $2k plus to have it replaced and installed. Dealer said it is a common issue. I feel like this is a defect to the camera and it should be recalled. It is unfair for the consumer to spend that amount of money to fix a vehicle part that i expect to be of high quality and fully tested by the manufacturer. These safety features should be available and working to help keep us safe on the road because we paid for them when we purchased the vehicle. I’ve read online that there are a lot of people affected by this issue. I’m hoping that Honda will do something about this.

Traveling on 295 getting off onto Route 6 West, when suddenly the engine stopped working and miraculously I was able to get to the side of the road into the breakdown lane. The vehicle was towed by AAA to a garage. When the mechanic was able to get it started, it sounded like something was clanking around in the engine. He states it appears a rod broke inside the engine. And now I have to put a brand new engine into it or get rid of it.

Having strong raw gas smell when the driver pressing the break to stop from running

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while accelerating up to 40 MPH, the engine stuttered. The tachometer gauge fluctuated, matching the sounds coming from the engine. The contact associated the failure with TSB: 23-078. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 89,000.

Took Pilot to Reilly's for FREE diagnostic reading. Showed misfires in cylinders 4 & 5 & random misfires. Then took to Son's Honda and PAID for the same diagnostic readings which were the same. The Pilot drives in a "limp mode" due to the issue. This issue is a known Honda issue for this year and make model. They have granted some Pilots an extended warranty to resolve the known issues. They say mine doesn't qualify even though it is the exact same issue. Defects with their fuel injector system. A secondary issue is the Transmission. We were traveling 2 hours away on the highway when we got a warning to pull over. Our Transmission fluid was too hot. This is another issue I have found to be a common problem with the 2019 Honda Pilot's and their redesign transmission system.

My car started showing dash indicators for problems with Collision Mitigation Braking (CMBS), Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), and other driver‑assist functions. I took my car to the dealership and was notified there was an issue with the electrical for the front camera and it needs to be replaced. I was quoted for over $2000 to fix this issue. After some research, it appears this is a known issue and has affected several others and there is currently a class action lawsuit regarding the issue. U3000‑49 is a safety issue because the failed camera disables multiple collision‑avoidance and lane‑keeping systems, removing automated protections that help prevent accidents.

Auto Start / Stop for the engine when coming to a stop at idle. We cannot replicate the situation over and over, but it has happened numerous times. If the auto start stop feature is allowed to function and the vehicle motor turns off at a stop sign or a stop light, it sometimes does not turn back on when you let off the brake and push the accelerator. This puts us in a very dangerous situation at intersections with a stalled out car. It sometimes takes several minutes to restart the car, all the while (my wife usually drives this car) she is panicking while cars honk and swerve around her disabled car. Honda dealer has been less than helpful stating they cannot do anything unless they can replicate it in the shop. Most recent incident happened today while my wife was driving to work.

The motor is misfiring on cylinder 5 due to faulty engine components. The vehicle is available for inspection on request. My safety and children’s are at risk as the cabin fills up with raw fuel fumes and makes you feel dizzy. It is also a huge safety risk that I have a failed motor and not one sensor or computer component came up to warn on the dashboard(aka engine light). The problem was brought to two different Honda dealers and the second one confirmed all this is true and faulty due to the manufacturers. No it hasn’t been inspected because we can’t get corporate to take us seriously or call us back in the right department. There were no warning lights on and it first appeared since the injectors were replaced.

VEHICLE: 2019 Honda Pilot EX VIN: [XXX] CURRENT MILEAGE: 77,000 miles COMPLAINT DESCRIPTION: I am filing a critical safety complaint regarding a catastrophic transmission failure that actively disables my vehicle's advanced driver-assist and automated safety systems while driving, creating a severe crash hazard. At approximately 36,085 miles, the vehicle experienced a severe torque converter judder. The dealership performed an 11-quart transmission fluid service. Immediately following this service, the vehicle began suffering from unpredictable, cascading dashboard warning lights that completely disable the vehicle's automated safety braking, forward-facing camera suites, and vehicle stability systems. The dealership repeatedly misdiagnosed this powertrain fault as a camera/sensor issue, charging me out-of-pocket for a front multipurpose camera replacement that did not resolve the issue. At 77,000 miles, the transmission suffered a complete failure. A diagnostic tear-down confirmed a stuck solenoid valve and destructive metal shards circulating throughout the transmission and fluid lines. The primary safety hazard is that the mechanical failure of the powertrain and torque converter actively sends erratic data to the vehicle's central computer, instantly shutting down the automatic emergency braking system, lane-keep assist, and forward collision warnings while the vehicle is in motion on public roads. This forces the driver to operate without critical automated safety features unexpectedly. Honda has issued an extended warranty for transmission judder on certain 2019 Pilots ([XXX]), but claims my specific VIN is excluded despite experiencing the exact same catastrophic mechanical and electronic safety failure. The contact referenced Technical Service Bulletin: 21-010; however, the vehicle was not included in the TSB. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The dealer confirmed the failure and stated that the vehicle was not included in the TSB. The vehicle was scheduled for the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

Honda DTC U3000-49 Internal Electronic Failure of the Multipurpose Camera. Ran into an issue where most if not all system modules began flashing warnings in the instrument cluster. The last time this happened, we found our original factory Honda battery to have finally failed. We replaced the battery 6 months ago, thus it's basically new. Naturally we thought possibly that something happened to the battery again, so we brought it back to Goodyear, and they ran tests. Alternator charging system was good, and so was the battery. They reset the system, and all of the warning lights went away for about 5 minutes. After idling for about 5 minutes, all of the random warning lights came back on the instrument cluster. Since the system was reset, the only thing that was flagged after pulling the codes post-reset was U3000-49, which after some research appears to be somewhat common. I talked to my local Honda dealer and they said the cost to fix this is in the mid to high $2000 range. I had to pay Goodyear $67.98 due to the fault not being with their installed battery, and they let the car go saying they couldn't do anything, so I contacted Honda.

The component that has failed or malfunctioned is the A/C Compressor Shaft Seal. It is available for inspection upon request. During a heat wave in Southern California, the ambient temperature failed to lower inside the vehicle's cabin. Causing potential heat stress-related injuries if prolonged. It has been documented under Technical Service Bulletin 23-050 for Honda vehicles. The component was inspected by a Honda Service Center. No warning lamps or messages appeared. Symptoms of the problem only came to light during a heat wave advisory in Southern California.

VEHICLE RUNNING ROUGH AND EMISSIONS LIGHT CAME ON. DEALER ANALYZED AND FOUND ERROR CODE P0430. ALL FUEL INJECTORS REPLACED AT COST OF $1,097.53 WHEN VEHICLE HAD ONLY 76,890 MILES.

Problem lights say systems are working.

I have issues with my 2019 honda pilot front windshield camera. when the front-facing camera malfunctions, it simultaneously shuts down multiple Honda Sensing driver-assistance systems. The front sensor camera mounted behind the windshield fails or glitches, causing simultaneous failures in adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, and lane-keeping assist. The failure triggers a cascade of multiple warning messages (such as "adaptive cruise control problem" or "road departure mitigation system problem") i want Honda to repair it under recall.

Rearview camera is showing up as green and purple on the screen. It makes seeing what is behind the car hard when in reverse. Dealer does not know what caused it but it started as intermittent but now is constant

This vehicle is equipped with Honda's Auto Idle Stop (AIS) system, which shuts the engine off automatically when the vehicle comes to a stop and is designed to restart it when the brake pedal is released. On XXX, while stopped at a light at approximatly [XXX], the engine shut off as normal, but failed to restart when I released the brake. The vehicle was inoperable for approximately one to two minutes while stopped in a busy traffic muilti-lane road at a light over an expressway, creating a serious risk of being struck from behind by other traffic. This is not an isolated occurrence, I experience this AIS no-restart failure on a regular/recurring basis, not just this one time. I am aware that Honda has issued service bulletins related to this issue (TSB 23-008, TSB 23-009) and that this defect is the subject of a certified class action settlement (In re Honda Idle Stop Litigation, No XXX). I believe this represents an ongoing safety defect that creates a real risk of a collision, particularly in higher-speed or higher-traffic conditions where a temporarily immobile vehicle is a hazard to itself and surrounding traffic. This vehicle has a rebuilt/salvage title (repaired and retitled prior to my purchase; it passed state inspection and is legally registered and roadworthy). When I contacted Honda about repair under the applicable service bulletins (TSB 23-008 / TSB 23-009) for this defect, I was told the rebuilt title status disqualifies this vehicle from that repair coverage. I am not seeking a warranty or cost remedy through this complaint, I am reporting this because it means an unknown number of vehicles with this safety defect are currently excluded from any manufacturer-provided fix, leaving the underlying no-restart hazard unaddressed on the road. The car stalled in an intersection. The auto idle function had engaged when the car came to a full stop, but when i took my foot off the break it did not restart. It took a couple of tries to get it to restart, leaving my car in the intersection. This problem has been happening on and off since I bought it used in 2022. In May 2025, a Honda dealership near me made a valve adjustment and replaced the starter, which was supposed to have fixed the issue. However, it recently started occurring again.
