Subject: Urgent Drivability Concern – 2024 Hyundai Tucson (6/22 Incident) Vehicle: 2024 Hyundai Tucson Date of Incident: XXX Trip Details: [XXX] to [XXX] (~160+ miles) Summary of Issue: During a long-distance drive on XXX, the vehicle experienced severe and consistent drivability issues that created unsafe driving conditions. Symptoms Observed: •Severe loss of acceleration / stalling behavior throughout the entire trip •No check engine light illuminated at any time •When pressing the accelerator: oTachometer increased (RPMs rising) oVehicle speed decreased or failed to increase appropriately •Significant delay in acceleration, especially when: oMerging onto the interstate oPassing other vehicles •Cruise control behavior: oSeemed to manage acceleration more effectively than manual throttle oHowever, still exhibited slow response when additional acceleration was required •Auto Start/Stop system: oSystem automatically disabled itself oWould not allow reactivation during the trip Safety Concern: This condition made it difficult and unsafe to: •Merge into traffic •Maintain appropriate highway speeds •Execute passing maneuvers Dealer Visit (Near [XXX]): •Vehicle was inspected after sitting for a couple of hours •Dealer reported no issues found •However, the problem was persistent and clearly present during operation under driving conditions Took vehicle to a dealership in Raleigh and asked that they look at the fuel injectors. They determined that all 4 injectors were failing and replaced them under warranty. While driving my 2024 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid at approximately 20-25 mph approaching a red light, a sudden and total loss of brake power-assist occurred. Upon applying the brakes, the pedal became instantly rigid and rock-hard. Despite pumping the pedal multiple times and applying heavy manual foot pressure, the vehicle failed to stop, resulting in a low-speed rear-end collision with a stationary car stopped at the traffic light. No dashboard warning lights or malfunction indicators illuminated during or immediately following the event. After the collision, the vehicle's ignition was turned off and then restarted. Following this power cycle, normal braking functionality temporarily returned. The low-speed impact displaced an ultrasonic sensor in the front bumper. This intermittent electronic brake failure poses a catastrophic safety hazard to pedestrians and occupants if it recurs at higher speeds
On February 25, 2026 the car was brought to the service department where it was determined that a front tire had a separated belt which caused vibrations and failure to accelerate . On June 16, 2026 the car was brought to the service department for the same thing. Again a tire had a separated belt again 235/55R19101H
Automatic emergency braking stopped the vehicle because another vehicle in front turned right.
I was in a car accident, and air bags didn't deploy.
The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer for repairs unrelated to a recall but recall repairs were completed unbeknownst to the contact for NHTSA Campaign Number 25V893000 (Trailer Hitches). The dealer removed the wiring harness which rendered the tow hitch inoperable. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and informed the contact that the removal of the wiring harness was the fix for the recall repair. The contact stated that he purchased the specific XRT model due to the specific feature of the tow hitch and now it is inoperable. The approximate failure mileage was 49200

The contact stated that the dealer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that a recall repair appointment was scheduled with the dealer and the vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall repair; however, the dealer informed the contact that parts were not yet ordered. The contact was concerned about the fire risk warning associated with the recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.
On Wednesday, May 13, 2026, I turned off the highway and came to a stoplight. While preparing to accelerate as the stoplight turned green, I heard what sounded like a gunshot and saw that my entire rear window had spontaneously shattered. There was no external impact which caused this to occur. I have photos of the incident. Although my one year old son was not in his rear facing car seat at the time, if he had been, he would have been at risk of injury due to glass fragments. I was at risk as the sound startled me into breaking when I should have been accelerating with the rest of traffic and it left my interior exposed to the elements. I am scheduled with Safelite repairs through my insurance company to repair the window on Monday, May 18th. There were absolutely no messages or any symptoms prior to the spontaneous shattering of my window. After researching, according to Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith LLP, there is currently an investigation for a potential class action lawsuit regarding an alleged defect of my make and model causing spontaneous rear window shattering.
Hyundai Recall 290 was performed on my vehicle by an authorized dealer. Because Hyundai has not manufactured or supplied the necessary extension cable connecting the new module to the hitch, the remedy is incomplete, and my factory-purchased towing equipment is now entirely inoperable. The Dealer has stated "CAMPAIGN COMPLETE" and has no plans to get the necessary cable.
The Manual Speed Limit Assist, or MSLA, feature unintendedly activated while I was driving, nearly causing a collision. I was initially unable to deactivate this steering-wheel based feature, as: (1) I did not intentionally press any buttons to activate it, and: (2) I had to balance the need to visually monitor other vehicles on the highway to avoid a collision and simultaneously figure out how to cancel this feature, which places a limit on the speed that the vehicle can travel. Instead of claiming that this feature malfunctioned, I am claiming that it is an egregiously, poorly designed and dangerous feature. The button to activate it is located on the steering wheel; consequently, a driver can easily activate it without meaning to do so. This inadvertent activation happened to me twice, each time impeding, however briefly, my ability to safely navigate a busy road. This feature was not identified when I purchased the vehicle; however, earlier this year Hyundai belatedly sent a letter to its customers titled "Understanding Manual Speed Limit Assist (MSLA) Feature," pointing out how to activate and disengage the feature (and providing a link to a website for a tutorial with more information: [XXX] . The contact stated that while driving 55 MPH the vehicle rear of a second vehicle during the failure the no safety features had activated including the airbag, collision avoidance features. During the incident the vehicle collided with the same vehicle twice although the brake pedal was pressed. During incident the driver sustained neck, shoulder and back injuries and was unconscious and transported to the hospital. A police report was taken at the scene. The vehicle was destroy the towed away. The contact was informed that the safety sensor had failed during the incident. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered.The failure mileage was 5,000.

(NHTSA Tracking Number 11726105) I am updating my existing complaint regarding my 2024 Hyundai Tucson (NHTSA Tracking Number 11726105) for an ongoing safety concern involving an intermittent warning chime while driving. This issue began shortly after I purchased the vehicle in Nov 2025 and has been reported to the dealership multiple times over several months. The warning chime occurs randomly while driving without any visible warning message or dashboard alert. This creates uncertainty because I do not know what the vehicle is trying to warn me about, which is distracting and creates a safety concern while driving. The dealership previously replaced both front seatbelt buckle assemblies after identifying intermittent high resistance as a possible cause. However, after that repair was completed, the warning chime occurred again while I was driving to the dealership for a follow-up visit. This confirmed that the issue was not fully resolved. I immediately returned the vehicle to the dealership, and they are now performing further diagnosis. I was advised that if the issue reoccurred, the next possible areas for diagnosis could involve the instrument cluster or the control module, both of which are safety-related systems connected to warning alerts and seatbelt functions. In addition, during this same visit, the dealership confirmed there is an actual oil leak requiring repair. This is significant because when I first raised this concern after an outside inspection in December 2025, I was told it was likely leftover residue from a prior oil change. The dealership has now confirmed it is a real leak and kept the vehicle for repair while providing a loaner vehicle. Because this vehicle was sold as Certified Pre-Owned and these safety and mechanical concerns continue shortly after purchase, I remain concerned about the reliability and safety of the vehicle.
While driving at approximately 70 mph on a highway under normal conditions, the vehicle experienced a sudden loss of engine power. A check engine light illuminated at the time of the failure, and the vehicle was unable to maintain normal acceleration or consistent speed. The loss of power created a hazardous situation in active traffic, as the vehicle could not safely maintain speed with surrounding vehicles. The vehicle was later inspected by an authorized dealership, which confirmed severe internal engine damage, including cylinder damage and engine misfire requiring major repair or replacement. No clear root cause has been provided. There were no prior warning signs or symptoms before the incident. WARNING SIGNS PRIOR TO FAILURE: NONE OBSERVED. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. DEALER CONFIRMATION: YES. MANUFACTURER INSPECTION: UNKNOWN.
The same incident has occurred 4 times ( [XXX] While driving on the freeway in light traffic and no vehicles in front. The forward collision sensor triggered dropping the vehicle in speed approx 30 mph almost instantaneously. This is San Diego so no snow, rain or sleet and we were driving eastbound each time with the sun at our back. Hyundai kept the car for a week for diagnostics and found nothing. We have since escalated to corporate and are going in for another round of diagnostics. We have been exceptionally fortunate that we were not rear-ended. Component: Engine/Powertrain/Electrical System Incident Description: I am reporting a recurring, life-threatening "Loss of Motive Power" (Dead Pedal) in a 2024 Hyundai Tucson (Alabama-built). On multiple occasions, the vehicle has failed to respond to throttle input during high-risk maneuvers, specifically while merging into 45+ MPH traffic. The vehicle "chugs" and stalls, refusing to exceed 15 MPH despite full accelerator depression. This defect leaves the vehicle and its occupants stranded and defenseless in the path of oncoming high-speed traffic. Technical Context: This vehicle is currently subject to NHTSA Recall 23V-526 (Hyundai Campaign 246) for electronic controller damage that can cause "CAN communication disruptions." I believe the "Dead Pedal" failure is a direct result of these communication disruptions between the engine and transmission control modules. Furthermore, Hyundai has issued TSB #24-AT-001H-1 for "Hesitation when accelerating," yet the authorized dealer (Ed Voyles Hyundai) has been unable to remedy the defect after 84 cumulative days out of service. Safety Risk: This is not a convenience issue; it is a critical safety failure. The unpredictable nature of the power loss makes it impossible to safely judge gaps in traffic. The vehicle effectively becomes a stationary object on active roadways without warning. Manufacturer Response: The manufacturer has been formally notified via certified legal counsel. Despite 79 consecutive days in the current repair attempt (since Jan 16, 2026), the manufacturer has failed to provide a fix or acknowledge the severity of the safety risk. An informal third-party evaluator attempted to dismiss the claim despite the vehicle's documented inability to maintain motive power. We are requesting that NHTSA investigate the adequacy of Recall 23V-526 and TSB #24-AT-001H-1, as these measures have failed to resolve this life-threatening "Dead Pedal" condition in my vehicle.
There has been an urgent safety recall with no fix for 4 months. I need the issue to be resolved so that my vehicle is no longer a safety hazard, but both the dealership I purchased it from and the manufacturer have stated that it's not a big deal.

The problem first appeared after I bought my car to the dealership to replace an amplifier. Since then, my car has been there twice and they have not been able to identify the problem. I’m going back-and-forth with the dealership and hyundai corporation. after numerous incidents with my other vehicles, I no longer trust this place to repair and at this time it’s a safety issue while I’m driving.
