On this vehicle the oil pump-oil control valve has malfunctioned. The vehicle has 54000 miles on it and the repair costs $8500. The part is only $300 but the transmission must be removed to repair the vehicle. The safety of people is not compromised by the part. The malfunction has been confirmed by the dealer. The malfunction has been reported to mercedes, the warranty company also. The check engine light came on and notified us there was a problem.

Body 2

I HAVE A BRAND-NEW VEHICLE THAT WENT INTO A SERIOUS SAFETY RECALL IN FEBRUARY. SINCE BEING NOTIFIED IN EARLY MARCH, THE MANUFACTURER CONTINUES TO SUGGEST THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO TO REMEDY THE SITUATION (NO PARTS AVAILABLE), AND IT IS NOW MAY. WHAT IS MORE CONCERNING IS I AM BEING TOLD TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE IF THERE ARE NO SIGNS OF DEFECT (AS IF I AM AN EXPERT). MBUSA KEEPS REFERRING ME BACK TO THE NEW VEHICLE WARRANTY THEY ARE 'HONORING'. UNFORTUNATELY, I DO NOT CARE WHAT IS OUTLINED IN 100 PAGES OF A LEGALLY WRITTEN WARRANTY DOCUMENT. IT IS IMPLIED WHEN A PERSON PURCHASES A NEW VEHICLE, THAT IT WILL NOT GO INTO A MAJOR SAFETY RECALL FOR TWO MONTHS. WHAT I CAN'T SEEM TO UNDERSTAND IS HOW MBUSA IS COMFORTABLE TELLING ME TO CONTINUE TO KEEP DRIVING A DEFECTIVE VEHICLE, KNOWING I HAVE A ONE YEAR OLD IN THE BACKSEAT. SHOULD I ASSUME THE RECALL IS NOT THAT SERIOUS? MBUSA NEEDS TO STEP UP AND DO THE RIGHT THING. THANK YOU, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
