OUR 2010 TOYOTA AVALON LIMITED WITH 126537 TOTAL MILES AS OF 07/09/2026, SITS IN OUR GARAGE ALL THE TIME EXCEPT WHEN IT SOMEWHERE. THE PROBLEM IS THE DASH IS CRACKING EVERYWHERE. I CAN UNDERSTAND IF IT WAS PARKED OUTSIDE ALL THE TIME. BUT SITTING IN THE GARAGE. WE KEEP IT CLEAN AND EVEN THE HEADLIGHT COVERS ARE STILL CRYSTAL CLEAR WITH NO FADING. EVEN THE SEATS HAVE NO CUTS, SPLITS OR CRACKS AFTER 16 YEARS. THERE IS NO REASON FOR THE DASH TO HAVE CRACKS ALL OVER.

MY 2010 TOYOTA AVALON WAS NOT ON THE TOYOTA WARRANTY LIST TO HAVE THE DASHBOARD REPLACED DUE TO THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. NOW, I AM SEEING THE DASHBOARD CRACKING IN TWO SPOTS. THE LATCH ON THE LOWER LEFT OF THE STEERING COLUMN THAT CONTROLS THE POSITIONING OF THE STEERING WHEEL CONSTANTLY COMES LOOSE. I DISCOVERED THAT AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, GOING STRAIGHT, AND THE STEERING WHEEL SUDDENLY SLID IN AND DOWN. ALMOST CAUSING ME TO LOOSE CONTROL WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR. UPON CHECKING WITH A AVALON FAN GROUP, I DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS A ISSUE WITH ALMOST EVERY SINGLE PERSON WHO OWNS THIS BODY STYLE. *TR
LEVER THAT ADJUSTS TILT STEERING WHEEL DOES NOT STAY IN PLACE AND WHEN IT FALLS IT DISENGAGES THE STEERING COLUMN LOCK AT ANY TIME.
DASHBOARD HAS BEEN CRACKING NON STOP AND IT KEEPS ON GETTING WORSE AND WORSE THE WHOLE PASSENGER SIDE DASH. PLUS ITS ALWAYS PARKED IN A PARKING GARAGE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2010 TOYOTA AVALON. WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH, A LARGE DEER COLLIDED HEAD ON INTO THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE IMPACT KNOCKED THE ENGINE BLOCK OUT OF PLACE AND PUSHED IT BACKWARDS INTO THE WINDSHIELD AREA. THE CONTACT SUFFERED INJURIES TO THE BACK, A CONCUSSION, WHIPLASH, RIGHT KNEE, LEFT ARM AND WRIST. THE PASSENGER ALSO EXPERIENCED INJURIES TO THE BACK, RIGHT SHOULDER, WHIPLASH, AND A CONCUSSION. BOTH OCCUPANTS RECEIVED MEDICAL ATTENTION AND CURRENTLY STILL UNDERGOING MEDICAL EXAMS FOR THE INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN IMPOUND LOT AND DEEMED DESTROYED. THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER MENTIONED THAT THE AIR BAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. LOUISBURGE SHERRIFF'S DEPARTMENT WAS PRESENT, BUT A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.

THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO A LOCAL DEALER TO HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE'S HOSE TO DRAIN THE WATER FROM THE SUN ROOF OUT OF THE VEHICLE WAS DETACHED, WHICH CAUSED WATER TO LEAK ONTO THE FLOOR OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HOSE NEEDED TO BE RE-ATTACHED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,700.
LAST TUESDAY, DEC 6TH, 2016,I STARTED MY TOYOTA AVALON 2010 AND GOT FROM A PARKING TO HIGWAY PR 1, IT SUDDENLY ACCELERATED OUT OF CONTROL, I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, SHIFTED GEAR TO LOWEST SHIFT, STEPPED ON THE EMERGENCY BREAK AND ONLY STOPPED WHEN I DID PUT IT ON PKG AND TURNED IT OFF. IT TOOK LIKE 500 M TO STOP IT. THE FLOOR CARPET IS ONE OF THE KIND THAT KEEP SECURED TO THE CAR FLOOR AND DIDN'T INTERFERRED WITH THE GAS PEDAL. . I BOUGHT IT NEW IN NOV 2009. THE GAS PEDAL NEVER LOOK STUCK BUT IT SOUNDED LIKE THE ENGINE WAS BEING FED WITH A LOT OF GAS. THE CAR IS AT A TOYOTA SERVICE SHOP SINCE MORE THAN 48 HOURS BUT I STILL DON'T HAVE A DIAGNOSIS. THERE WAS NO COLISSION. I GOT THE CAR TOWED TO THE TOYOTA SERVICE SHOP AFTER REPORTING THE INCIDENT TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC AND THE SHOCKS AND MOTOR MOUNT WERE REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED.
REAR SUNSHADE IS STUCK IN THE UP POSITION. IT IS DIFFICULT TO SEE OUT OF THE BACK WINDOW. I KNOW MAY AVALONS HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM. THE COST TO FIX IT IS FAR BEYOND REASON.
THE STEERING COMUN IN-AND-OUT ADJUSTMENT CONTROL LEVER DOES NOT LOCK INTO POSITION CAUSING THE STEERING WHEEL COLUMN UNEXPECTED FREE MOVEMENT WHEN THE CAR IS MOVINGI
REAR WINDOW SHADE WOULD NOT RETRACT. DRIVING AT NIGHT IT WAS DIFFICULT TO SEE OUT REAR WINDOW DUE TO SHADE BEING STUCK IN RAISED POSITION. TOYOTA WANTED $1,500 REPAIR IT, BUT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE AND PER THEIR EMPLOYEE, IT HAD BEEN BACK ORDERED THREE TIMES. THIS INDICATED TO HIM A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM.
WHEN VEHICLE WAS NEW STEERING WOULD BE DIFFICULT TO TURN AT LOW SPEEDS. IT WOULDN'T HAPPEN ALL THE TIME BUT IT WAS NOT RIGHT. CALLED TOYOTA 1800 NUMBER IS WAS QUICKLY DISMISSED BY HELP LINE. FOUR YEARS LATER NEEDED RACK AND PINION FAILED WITH 110 K ON ODOMETER. WARRANTY RAN OUT AT 100K. I GOT MY USE OUT AND I FIXED THE STEERING. MY ISSUE IS WHEN I WAS LOOKING FOR REPLACEMENT PARTS ON THE INTERNET I WAS SHOCKED TO SEE HOW MANY OTHERS WHO HAD ISSUES AND A LOT LESS MILES. I FEEL THEY ARE USING SUBPAR PARTS AND LOOKING TO CUT COST AT THE EXPENSE OF SAFETY. WE KNOW MR. TOYODA IS A LIAR AND PAID A FINE FOR LYING TO CONGRESS. I'M OK WITH CUTTING COST EXCEPT ON SAFETY. *TR
STEERING WHEEL LOCKING LEVER KEEPS DISENGAGING. STEERING WHEEL MOVES IN AND OUT WHILE DRIVING. *TR
2010 TOYOTA AVALON WAS TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP (VISALIA TOYOTA) FOR HI-BEAM BULBS EXPLODING WHEN TURNED ON. DEALER REPLACED BULBS BUT THIS HAS NOT SOLVED THE PROBLEM. THE REPAIR PER THE LAST VISIT TO THE DEALERSHIP WILL REQUIRE THE REPLACEMENT OF THE WHOLE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY DUE TO A RECURRING PROBLEM TOYOTA HAS HAD WITH THIS LIGHTING SYSTEM. THEY HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM YET NOW STATE THAT MY CAR IS OVER THE MILEAGE REQUIREMENT TO HAVE THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE AND HAVE NEVER BEEN NOTIFIED OF A PROBLEM BY TOYOTA OF THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY BY THE MANUFACTURER OR THE DEALERSHIP. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND A POTENTIAL HAZARD WHICH THEY HAVE KNOWN ABOUT AND SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF BY TOYOTA. MY POWER STEERING RETURN HOSE/TUBE HAD TO BE REPLACED. TOYOTA DID REIMBURSE THE AMOUNT OF THE PART SINCE THEY SAID IT WAS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT, BUT I HAD TO PAY FOR THE LABOR. THEY SAID THE TUBE WAS TOO CLOSE TO THE ENGINE. THE OFFICIAL CHARGES ARE BELOW. POWER STEERING RETURN HOSE/TUBE. R&R 08/10 UPPER TUBE SUB-ASSY, RE Q/S P/S FLUID $107.85 LABOR $130.35. *TR
MY 2010 TOYOTA AVALON LIMITED SOMETIMES STALLS AT 20 MPH OR WHEN TURNING LEFT, OR SWITCHING LANES. IT IS AS THOUGH IT PAUSES, BUT DOESN'T DIE. IT ONLY HAPPENS MAYBE ONCE OR TWICE A WEEK, BUT THE TOYOTA DEALER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND A PROBLEM.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 900 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 13,900.
DRIVING ON RT 81S IN VIRGINIA WHEN THE TELESCOPING STEERING COLUMN LOCK CAME UNLOCKED. WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES THE STEERING WHEEL COLLAPSED TOWARD THE DASH. SINCE THEN IT HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. SEEMS TO SIMPLY VIBRATE LOOSE FROM TRAVELING ON BUMPY ROADS. TOOK IT BACK TO DEALER BUT THEY SAID THEY DROVE IT 7 MILES AND IT DIDN'T FAIL SO THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING. SINCE THEN, IT HAS COME UNLOCKED 2 TIMES IN 264 MILES. AS LONG AS I CHECK IT EVERY TIME I START THE CAR, AND ANYTIME I DRIVE MORE THAN 100 MILES, IT'S SAFE BUT THIS IS NOT A GOOD SITUATION.
