The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Venture. The contact stated that while his father was driving at an undisclosed speed on the highway, the vehicle suddenly lost automotive power. No warning lights illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that his father managed to pull over to the shoulder of the road, and upon further inspection, white/blue smoke was seen coming from under the vehicle, and the vehicle later caught on fire from the fuel pump/tank. The fire had leaked onto the floor; however, it had extinguished on its own. A police report was not filed; however, Law Enforcement arrived on scene to direct traffic. The local fire department did not arrive on scene. No injuries were sustained, nor medical attention was sought. The vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to a local tow yard, where it was deemed a total loss by the insurance provider. The local dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 116,000.
The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Venture. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle was making a rattling sound coming from the front passenger’s side of the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who replaced the wheel bearing hub assembly, brakes, rotors, struts, and tires. The failure persisted. The contact took the vehicle to another certified mechanic who performed a front-end alignment however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to a third mechanic who identified that the noise seemed to be coming from the steering wheel; however, the mechanic could not verify the cause of the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 236,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2005 CHEVROLET VENTURE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH IN THE RAIN, THE VEHICLE HYDROPLANED TO THE LEFT AND THEN BACK TO ITS LANE. THE REAR TIRES ROLLED OFF THE ROAD AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO A DITCH. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A BODY SHOP AND DEEMED DESTROYED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
MY WIFE HIT A OLD STYLE VAN THAT HAD STOPPED FOR A DOG CROSSING A THE ROAD. THE WHOLE FRONT END HAD TO BE REPLACED. HOOD, GRILL, LIGHTS, BOTH FENDER HAD TO BE REPAIRED, ALSO THE STEAL TUBE UNDER THE RADIATOR FRAME HAD TO BE CUT OUT AND REPLACED. ON 11/5/2010 I HIT A DEER GOING 30 MPH, AGAIN FRONT END DAMAGE. BOTH TIMES THE AIR BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY, AND ON STAR DIDN'T RESPOND. I ASKED TWO DIFFERENT CHEVROLET DEALERS IF THE AIR BAG SENSOR COULD BE TESTED, ANSWER WAS NO.
WE HAVE BEEN SMELLING GASOLINE FUMES IN AND OUTSIDE OUR VAN. SOMETIMES IT IS VERY POTENT AND OTHER TIMES FAINT. WHEN WE WALK INTO OUR GARAGE, WE CAN SMELL IT ALSO. IT OCCURS OFTEN WHEN MAKING A LEFT-HAND TURN. WHEN WE INSPECT IT, WE CAN'T FIND ANY LEAK. WE SMELL THIS FROM A HALF TANK TO EMPTY. *TR

HIS FATHER DIED FROM HIS INJURIES AND HIS STEP-MOTHER WAS INJURED. THE CONSUMER STATED HIS FATHER HIT A DIRT BANK HEAD-ON AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. AS A RESULT, HIS FATHER HIT THE STEERING WHEEL WITH HIS CHEST CAUSING DAMAGE TO HIS LUNGS, SPLEEN, KIDNEYS AND RIBS. HIS STEP-MOTHER HIT THE DASH AND CENTER CONSOLE WITH HER HEAD, CUTTING HER ACROSS THE FOREHEAD. *JB

THE VAN FILLS WITH FUEL FUMES. THE FUMES CAN BE SMELLED INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. GM HAS RECALLED CHEVY VENTURE 2001-2004 FOR SPECIFIC VIN#'S BUT NO 2005'S AND MY SPECIFIC VIN# IS NOT INCLUDED. I HAVE TALKED WITH GM BUT THEIR RESPONSE IS JUST YOUR VIN# IS NOT INCLUDED. YOU CAN GO TO THE DEALERSHIP AND PAY FOR IT TO GET FIXED. THIS IS A SPECIFIC FIRE HAZARD ACCORDING TO THEIR REPORTS. I HAVE HAD TO PARK MY VEHICLE FOR SAFETY REASONS. I CAN NOT ALLOW MY CHILDREN TO BE SUBJECTED TO THE FUEL FUMES OR THE POTENTIAL OF A FIRE. I AM NOT IN A POSITION AT THIS TIME TO PAY FOR THE WORK OR TRADE DUE TO THE ECONOMY. IF GM KNOWS THAT HAVE THIS PROBLEM THEN WHY WOULD THEY LET A POTENTIAL HAZARD TO LOYAL CUSTOMERS CONTINUE. THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON AS WE WERE BRAKING. THE BRAKES THEN STARTED FEELING LIKE THEY WERE WORKING INTERMITTENTLY. THIS CAUSED THE CAR TO FEEL LIKE IT WAS NOT GOING TO STOP. WE WERE NOT EVEN GOING THAT FAST. WE OWNED A PREVIOUS 2005 CHEVROLET VENTURE AND IT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE SLIDING DOOR LOCK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 145,000.

I HAVE A 2005 CHEVROLET VENTURE MINI VAN THAT HAS DEVELOPED A FUEL LEAK AROUND THE AREA WHERE THE FILLER TUBE CONNECTS TO THE FUEL TANK. HAVING RESEARCHED THIS, IT IS APPARENT THAT THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FOR THESE VEHICLES AS EARLY AS 2003. THIS THE THIRD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MY VAN. I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR IT TWICE, USING AN EPOXY SEALER,BUT THE LEAK REDEVELOPS AFTER A FEW DAYS. I MIGHT HAVE TO REPLACE THE FUEL TANK AND FILLER TUBE, IF I CAN FIND ONE THAT I CAN AFFORD. GM SAYS THAT THIS IS NOT DEFECT AND WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL, BUT IT SEEMS THAT JUST THE IDEA OF FIRE HAZARD WOULD BE ENOUGH REASON FOR GM TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I DO NOT SEE HOW GM CAN NOT SAY THAT THIS IS NOT A DEFECT IN THE DESIGN, SINCE THIS HAS OCCURRED A NUMBER OF TIME. IT'S A PLASTIC SIDE MOUNTED TANK WITH NO PROTECTION SURROUNDING IT AND A FILLER TUBE THAT JOINS IT IN A VERY VULNERABLE AREA. *TR
SPEEDOMETER NEVER DROPS BELOW 55 MPH WHEN VEHICLE IS STANDING STILL AND HAS INCREASED TO 95 MPH AT TIMES. *TR
TEMP GAUGE READING HOT, DECIDED 95 S IN NEW YORK CITY WASN'T AN IDEAL PLACE TO STOP AND TRAFFIC WAS VERY BAD HAD TO DRIVE IN BREAKDOWN LANE TO GET TO NEAREST EXIT (APPROX 1.5 MILES) PULLED OVER IN A WATER WORKS LOT WITH MY 4 YR OLDS AND WIFE AT 11:30 PM, ON WAY TO OHIO FROM RHODE ISLAND. CALLED AAA TOOK TO GARAGE, SEVERAL HOURS LATER, US TO A HOTEL THAT WASN'T BOOKED. NEXT GARAGE REPLACED THE TEMP SWITCH AND THERMOSTAT. SEEMED OK. CONTINUED TO OHIO. WHILE IN OHIO TEMP GAUGE WAS READING HOT AGAIN. TOOK TO DEALER AND SAID THAT THE GAUGE CLUSTER WAS FAULTY BUT DID NOT HAVE THE PART TO REPLACE. CAME HOME , TEMP GAUGE HAS BEEN READING FINE IF I TURN THE KEY ON AND OFF TO "RESET" THE GAUGE BACK TO "ZERO" STILL NOT SURE THAT IT IS READING CORRECTLY AT THAT POINT. $500.00 TO HAVE REPLACED. MOST CAR FORUMS PEOPLE HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING OF THIS ISSUE AND SOME OTHER COOLING ISSUES THAT VERY WELL MAY BE RELATED TO THIS PROBLEM. SAFETY OF MY FAMILY IS VERY IMPORTANT AND HAVING A VAN THAT "OVERHEATS"IS A PROBLEM DUE THE FACT THAT IF WE IGNORE THE GAUGE IT VERY WELL MAY OVERHEAT AND MY FAMILY MAY BE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD NOT BEING ABLE TO GET TO A SAFE PLACE. WE WERE FORTUNATE THAT AAA WAS ABLE TO HELP US ALOT AND THAT I WAS ABLE TO GET TO A SAFE PLACE THAT WASN'T THE BRONX (WHICH WAS THE NEXT EXIT) OR WORSE. THIS PROBLEM INCLUDING THE STAY WAS $1300.00 AND NOT TO MENTION BEING IN A STRANGE DARK PLACE FOR NEARLY 3 HRS. I STILL HAVE NO CONFIDENCE THE NEW CLUSTER IS WORKING THE WAY IT IS SUPPOSED TO. *TR
WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 30MPH THE DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR HAD SUDDENLY SLID OPEN. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALERSHIP AND THE CONTACT NOTICED BEFOREHAND THAT THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN ELECTRONICALLY. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE IS 69250. BML
THE SLIDING DOORS WANT OPEN AND WHEN IT DOES, IT IS HARD TO CLOSE. THE LOCKS GET STUCK OFTEN ON BOTH DOORS; THE AUTOMATIC DOOR & WINDOW CONTROL DOES NOT WORK. THE OVER ALL QUALITY IS POOR. HAVE AIR POCKETS AND THE DRIVER SEAT IS BROKEN. *TR
