TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 MAZDA B3000. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE IT WAS PARKED IN A RESIDENTIAL DRIVEWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A SALVAGE YARD AND WAS NOT DIAGNOSED TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE INCIDENT. A POLICE/FIRE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 400,000.

FRAME RUSTED OUT, RUSTED TIRE CARRIER, AND REAR LEAF SPRING MOUNTS. UNSAFE TRUCK UNTIL WE TEMPORARILY FIXED THE PROBLEM BECAUSE MAZDA WOULD NOT. FRAME SHOULD LAST LONGER THAN 8 YEARS AFTER BEING IN HEATED GARAGE. *TR
THE VEHICLE HAS SEVERAL SAFETY ISSUES. 1. THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT ON DASH REPEATEDLY COMES ON AS WELL AS INSIDE LIGHT WHILE DRIVING. THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED SINCE VEHICLE WAS NEW AND NEVER REPAIRED CORRECTLY BY MAZDA FACILITY. 2. TRUCK HAS ORIGINAL WILDERNESS HT TIRES FROM FIRESTONE, WITH 22,000 MILES ON THEM, AND JUST HAD VIBRATION AND VEERING TO RIGHT. FOUND BALL ON TREAD OF DRIVERS SIDE STEER TIRE, WHERE APPARENTLY THE TREAD IS SEPARATING FROM THE TIRE. THE DOT CODE ON THESE TIRES IS W2UU IPO479, P225/70R15 100S. THIS MODEL WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE 2000 RECALL, ALTHOUGH I RECENTLY LEARNED THE HIGHWAY SAFETY BOARD FOUND THESE TIRES TO HAVE MORE COMPLAINTS THEN THE AT AND ATX THAT WERE RECALLED. 3. I TOO HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE OIL PRESSURE NOT REGISTERING UNTIL THE VEHICLES WAS WARMED UP AFTER TRAVELING A COUPLE MILES. DEALER SAID I HAD TO REPLACE SENDING UNIT WHICH THEY DIDN'T HAVE IN STOCK. I REMOVED OLD SENDING UNIT AND TURNED OVER ENGINE UNTIL IT BLEW OIL OUT THE POST THE SENDING UNIT GOES IN, AND ITS BEEN WORKING FINE EVERY SINCE USING THE SAME OLD SENDING UNIT. 4. THE BRAKE LIGHT ON TOP OF CAB, STARTED LEAKING WATER INTO CAB AROUND THE GASKET, SO I HAD TO SILICONE AROUND GASKET TO STOP LEAK. 5. HAD PROBLEMS WITH TRANSMISSION NOT SHIFTING AND WOULD GO INTO NEUTRAL. THIS HAPPENED ON INTERSTATE DOING 70 MPH. PULLED OVER TO SHOULDER AND AFTER TRIAL AND ERROR, FOUND THE ONLY WAY VEHICLE WOULD MOVE WAS TO PUT IT INTO DRIVE 1. DEALER SAID SENSOR WAS BAD IN TRANSMISSION AND REPLACED, AND NO PROBLEMS SINCE. 6. TRANSMISSION DOES NOT SHIFT PROPERLY WHEN TRAVELING UP A HILL, ESPECIALLY IF PULLING A TRAILER, EVEN WHEN TRAILER IS EMPTY AND THERE IS A LOSS OF POWER. THE ENGINE RPM GAUGE SHOWS THE ENGINE RUNNING AT 5000 RPM AND TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT UNTIL YOU GET TO TOP OF HILL AND START DOWN OTHER SIDE. *TR
DRIVER FELT VIBRATION WILE DRIVING IN FAST LANE, DRIVER THEN LOST CONTROL AND COLLIDED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. *TS THE CONSUMER LOST CONTROL OF THE TRUCK DUE TO TIRE TREAD SEPARATION. THE TIRE BRAND WAS FIRESTONE. THE DRIVER OF THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS INJURED. *JB
CONSUMER INSPECTED VEHICLE AFTER HEARING A LOUD SQUEAKY NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDES. WHEN INSPECTING HE FOUND A LOOSE PREMATURELY RUSTED LOWER BALL JOINT WITH NO LUBRICATION AND REPLACED THE PART. DEALER STATED THERE WAS NEVER ANY TYPE OF GREASE FITTING WHICH CAUSED RUSTING. CONSUMER SAVED THE OLD RUSTED LOWER BALL JOINT PART.*AK *SB *NM
I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AND THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED ON THE FIRST IMPACT, BUT WHEN I WAS REAR ENDED MY HEAD WAS CUT OPEN BY THE PLASTIC COVER FOR THE AIR BAG. WHEN I WAS REAR ENDED A 2ND AND 3RD TIME MY NOSE WAS CUT BY THE SAME PLASTIC COVER.*AK
TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AT 12-28-04 . DEALER TOLD ME I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION AT A COST OF 3800.00 . AT SPEEDS HIGH AND LOW IT WILL NOT SHIFT RIGHT. I TRIED TO GET HELP ON THIS PROBLEM AND MAZDA CORP SAID IT WOULD TAKE A WHILE TO MAYBE SOLVE. *JB
WHILE DRIVING A TLOW SPEEDS AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFTED GEARS. DEALERSHIP INFORMED CONSUMER THAT THE PROBLEM PERTAINED TO THE SPEED SENSOR, BUT THE PROBLEM WAS NOT REPAIRED. *AK
TYPE OF CAR: 2000 MAZDA B4000 TRUCK . I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT ABOUT 30MPH, MADE A RIGHT HAND TURN INTO A PARKING LOT. MOMENTS LATER I NOTICED IN MY REAR VIEW MIRROR A TIRE LYING IN THE ROAD. TURNS OUT MY SPARE TIRE FELL OUT FROM UNDERNEATH MY TRUCK. THE SPARE TIRE CARRIER CABLE HAD SNAPPED ALLOWING THE TIRE TO FALL TO THE GROUND. IT'S A VERY GOOD THING THIS TIRE DIDN'T COME OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY THE NIGHT BEFORE. IT'S ALARMING TO THINK WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED IF THIS HAD OCCURRED 12 HRS BEFORE WHILE TRAVELLING AT 65 MPH.*AK THE TIRE CARRIER MANUFACTURER IS DURA AUTOMOTIVE SYSTEMS (WWW.DURAAUTO.COM). I'VE CONTACTED DURA VIA EMAIL LETTING THEM KNOW OF THE FAILURE AND THEY HAVE NOT RESPONDED TO MY ATTEMPTS. AS OF NOW THE PARTS HAVE NOT BEEN REPLACED.

WHILE PLACING THE KEY INSIDE OF THE IGNITION, THE ANTI THEFT ALARM SYSTEM WOULD COME ON AND STAY ON. THIS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO NOT START. THE DRIVER HAS CONTACTED THE DEALER FOR A APPOINTMENT FOR INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE. PLEASE FILL IN ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *JB
THE METAL SPRING IS POKING THROUGHOUT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT.*AK
I WENT TO A GAS STATION TO FUEL MY TRUCK. FUEL STARTED POURING FROM THE BOTTOM MIDDLE OF THE TRUCK JUST AS THE TANK REACHED ITS FULLEST CAPACITY. THERE WAS NO PRIOR INCIDENT OF FUEL LEAKING BEFORE THE TANK REACHED ITS FULLEST CAPACITY. NOR WAS THERE ANY PRIOR SIMILAR EXPERIENCE BEFORE THIS DATE WHEN FILLING THE TANK TO ITS FULLEST CAPACITY. THE FUEL WAS NOT LEAKING FROM ANY WHERE NEAR THE FUEL CAP AREA. IT MAY HAVE BEEN COMING FROM THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK (UN-CONFIRMED).*AK
THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 53,000 MILES. *AK
WHILE DRIVING GEAR SHIFT POPPED OUT OF GEAR INTO NEUTRAL. THIS OCCURRED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS SLOWING DOWN IN FIRST OR THIRD GEARS. DEALERSHIP WAS NOT ABLE TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK
WHILE DRIVING, THE STEERING WHEEL JERKED AWAY FROM THE CONSUMER. *JB
