The contact owns a 2005 Mazda B-Series ZJ57. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 17V806000, 17V807000, and 23V837000 (Air Bags) however, the dealer had refused to complete the recall due to the air bags that had inflated during a crash. The contact stated that the manufacturer refused to honor the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had experienced a failure. The contact stated while driving at approximately 20 MPH and as he was turning to the left, he did not observe that another vehicle was crossing his path. The contact stated that his front driver's side bumper, headlight, and grill crashed into the front passenger door of the vehicle. The contact stated that the driver's side and passenger front air bags deployed. The contact stated that the driver's side air bag inflator exploded and that he was cut on his right cheek by metal fragments. The contact stated that the largest part of the air bag inflator had torn a hole in the roof and was lodged in the padding. The contact stated that he was able to remove the piece of metal. He drove himself to the hospital where he was treated for a minor cut on his right cheek. The contact stated that both vehicles were able to move under power and were not towed. The contact stated that he later reported the crash to the police, the contact stated that no report was written. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

TAKATA RECALL - MAZDA RECALL NUMBER 9116A, NHTSA RECALL NUMBER 16V-048 I WAS INFORMED BY LETTER ABOUT THIS RECALL WELL OVER A YEAR AGO, BUT THE STATUS STILL REMAINS "RECALL INCOMPLETE, REMEDY NOT YET AVAILABLE". MY DEALERSHIP CANNOT ADVISE IF OR WHEN PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE. I AM VERY CONCERNED BECAUSE IT WAS A MAZDA B2300 SERIES PICKUP A YEAR NEWER THAN MINE WHICH BLEW UP AND KILLED A PERSON, INITIATING THIS RECALL OF BOTH MAZDA AND FORD RANGER BRANDED MAZDA PICKUPS. THE FAILURE RATE OF THESE INFLATORS INCREASES RAPIDLY WITH VEHICLE AGE.

TAKATA RECALL. I CONTACTED MY LOCAL MAZDA DEALER SHORTLY AFTER BEING NOTIFIED OF THE JANUARY 29, 2016 RECALL 9116A (NHTSA RECALL NUMBER 16V-048). THEY INFORMED ME THEY WOULD BEGIN REPLACING THE DEFECTIVE AIR BAGS DURING THE MARCH TO JUNE 2016 TIME FRAME. TO DATE I HAVE NOT BEEN CONTACTED BY MAZDA TO BRING MY VEHICLE IN FOR THE REPLACEMENT.

MY 2005 MAZDA TRIBUTE BEGAN TO VIBRATE UNCONTROLLABLY, SKIPS AND MAKING LOUD POPPING NOISES. THE CAR THAN SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY IN TRAFFIC. I THEN HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT THE COMPUTER WAS COMPLETELY BURNED UP. THE CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND SO THEY FIXED IT AT NO COST TO ME WHICH WAS 2,000 DOLLARS. HOWEVER, I WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR BUYING NEW KEYS WHICH COST 600 DOLLARS. MY CAR IS CURRENT IN THE SHOP WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I ALSO HAD TO REPLACE THE IGNITION COILS TWICE. BEING IN ONE DEALER 4 TIMES AND ANOTHER ONE TIME. STILL NOT FIXED WHINING NOISE IN BACK, TICKING AND CLICKING NOISE IN ROTOR/ BRAKE, AIR CONDITIONER, HEAT, ROUGH DRIVE, AND SEAT SAGGING. NEW DEALER VERIFIED THE PROBLEMS, AND SAID ALL WAS THE CHARACTERISTIC OF THE CAR, BUT WE FIXED THE ROTOR/BRAKE NOISE BY RESURFACING THE ROTOR. THE FIRST DEALER ALREADY DID THE RESURFACING. 2005 MAZDA 3 SEDAN HAS HAD THE FOLLOWING FUEL/STALL FAILURES OVER THE LAST 6 MONTHS. 1ST INCIDENT HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY, CAR STALLED AND HAD TO PULLED TO SIDE OF ROAD AND RESTARTED AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES AND ATTEMPTS. 2ND INCIDENT, CAR WAS PARKED IN OWNERS DRIVEWAY AND FAILED TO START (LACK OF FUEL), 3RD INCIDENT CAR AGAIN PARKED IN OWNERS DRIVEWAY AND FAILED TO START (FUEL STARVATION). ALL THREE TIMES THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP AND NOTHING WAS REPAIRED. DEALERSHIP SERVICE ADVISORS CLAIMED THAT FUEL STARVATION/STALLING COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE FUEL STARVATION/STALLING SEEMS TO HAPPENED RANDOMLY, BUT THE RISK OF IT STALLING DURING DRIVING IS A VERY UNSAFE HAZARD. *NM

WHILE DRIVING MY MAZDA 2000 PROTEGE(AUTOMATIC) HOME FROM FRIENDS ON JULY 4 TH, NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A BIG JERK FROM TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE STARTED REWING AT ~4K TO ~5K AND THE CAR WAS LOOSING POWER. I WAS DOING 55 MPH AT THE TIME AND THE SPEED CAME DOWN TO 40 MPH. FROM THAT POINT ON CAR WOULD NOT GO BEYOND 40 MPH AND ENGINE STILL KEEPS REWING AT THAT SPEED. I WAS ON A HIGHWAY IN THE CAR ALONE AND WAS FEARED FOR LIFE THAT THE ENGINE REWING WITH LOUD NOICE WOULD BLOW ON ME. HAD TO TAKE LOCAL ROADS TO MAKE IT TO HOME. THE CAR HAS 37K MILES ON IT AND WAS GENTLY DRIVEN. ALL THE REQUIRED MAINTENANCE WORK WAS PERFORMED. DEALER AFTER PERFORMING THE DIAGNOSTICS CAME BACK WITH THERE WAS AN INTERNAL FAILURE WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED COSTING OVER $2600.
