The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the rearview camera intermittently displayed a distorted image. The dealer was contacted but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000.
coolant leaking into engine * sudden engine failure risk * overheating * loss of power * expensive engine replacement from known defect 2014 Ford Fusion EcoBoost is losing coolant internally into the engine. Ford dealership diagnosed coolant intrusion requiring full engine replacement costing approximately $14,000. This appears to be a known defect affecting many Ford EcoBoost vehicles. Vehicle experiences coolant loss and risk of engine failure.
SUBJECT: URGENT COMPLAINT: Deceptive Practices/Misrepresentation & Services Not Rendered (Woodhouse Ford of Omaha) I. Actionable Safety Issue Summary This complaint concerns fraudulent billing and dangerous misrepresentation by Woodhouse Ford of Omaha, which claimed a vehicle's 3rd rack and pinion system was "safe" on 2/19/2026 after a known safety issue, following a previous failure. They further charged $219.22 for unrendered/improper ABS programing repairs that was not successful because the electric rack and pinion is defective on 3/5/2026 and fabricated invoice records to shift liability. II. Parties Involved •Consumer: [XXX] •Dealer/Service Provider: Woodhouse Ford of Omaha, Service Manager Jeremy Sullivan, Technician Anthony Rubio. •Financial Institution: First National Bank of Omaha (Regulated by OCC). III. Nature of the Dispute 1.Safety Hazard/Misrepresentation (2/19/2026): Service Manager Jeremy Sullivan and Tech Anthony Rubio stated the vehicle’s rack and pinion was "safe" despite a prior failure. This misrepresentation has left me with a vehicle that has had the rack and pinion fail or require replacement three times in under a year. 2.Services Not Rendered (3/5/2026): Charged $219.22 for "programming the ABS module" which was not rendered or not performed correctly. 3.Fabricated Documentation: Woodhouse Ford created fraudulent service invoices stating I diagnosed the ABS fault and declined further diagnosis. This is an attempt to evade liability for ongoing, dangerous defects. IV. Regulatory Violations & Requested Action The described actions violate consumer protection laws, including: •Dodd-Frank UDAAP (12 USC § 5536): Unfair, Deceptive, or Abusive Acts or Practices. •Fair Credit Billing Act (15 USC § 1666): Billing error/services not received. •Regulation E (12 CFR 1005.11): Procedures for resolving errors. Requested Action: Initiate an investigation into Woodhouse Ford of Omaha’s service practices and safety diagnostics. Backup camera has been mostly inoperable for two years. The display is blurry at best, and works intermittently. Most often, the screen displays "Camera Not Available" or just goes black. Ford has issued a recall for other model years but needs to include the 2014 as we have the same issues.
Driver side rear door handle broke off!
The backup assisting camera is no longer working properly, causing a safety issue while reversing. There are recalls on this from 2015 to 2019 but not 2014 even though the same issue is happening with the 2014's.
Complaint Description: I am filing a complaint regarding a severe brake assist failure in my 2014 Ford Fusion. The vehicle has experienced a repeated loss of brake assist, resulting in a hard brake pedal and increased stopping distance. Despite multiple visits to the dealership, only the vacuum pump was replaced, and the root cause was intally never fully diagnosed. Full diagnosis is still under dealersip review at Phil Long Ford of Denver. I am concerned that this is part of a larger, incomplete brake system failure. As several brake recalls have recently been fixed inclding replacing leaking brake lines and brake lights. While there are currently known recalls on certain Ford Fusion brake systems (such as brake hoses, brake lights etc), these recalls do not appear to cover critical components such as the vacuum pump, brake booster, hard brake lines, and camshaft. These omissions leave a gap in addressing a potentially life-threatening safety risk. The dealer’s incomplete diagnostic leaves me and others exposed to a dangerous failure. I urge NHTSA to open an investigation into these brake system components to ensure that a comprehensive recall is considered. The repeated failure, despite previous repair attempts, makes it imperative that all related brake components be thoroughly examined, as this is a life safety risk. Thank you for your prompt attention to this urgent matter.
As I was driving, making a right turn and with out warning my steering wheel before excessively hard to control, turn. Because of the sudden wheel tightening as I was making this right turn I almost collided with a vehicle in next lane on highway. My brakes were in good standing but I had to really step down on my brakes to gain control of the steering wheel. I put in the shop and got a multi point inspection with repairs costs of over 3000 to replace steering wheel gear bolts etc in which I can't afford at this time
Backup camera fails to display image. The camera started failing about two years ago in 2024. I reported to Ford and to the dealership. I was informed no recall had been issued for my model year but has been issued for other model years. For the past year the camera has been completely non functional.
While driving a 2014 Ford Fusion during a snowstorm, the vehicle displayed the warning message “Steering Assist Fault – Service Required.” Immediately afterward, the steering became extremely difficult to turn, requiring significantly greater effort to control the vehicle. This sudden loss of power steering assist created a serious safety risk for myself and others on the road. The vehicle was inspected by a dealership, which confirmed diagnostic codes U3000 and C200D in the Power Steering Control Module and recommended replacement of the steering gear assembly and related components. The dealer noted that my VIN was not listed as included in the relevant recalls, although many vehicles from the same model year were included in Ford recall 19S26 (NHTSA 19V632000), which addresses corrosion or breakage of electric power steering gear motor bolts and potential loss of power steering assist. No prior symptoms were noted before the warning message appeared. The failure was sudden and occurred while the vehicle was in motion. The steering gear and related components are available for inspection. Based on the dealer’s assessment and the similarity to documented recall conditions, the cause appears to be a sudden failure of the electric power steering gear assembly.
My backup camera does not work periodically. It will say camera unavailable. I use my camera in conjunction with my mirrors so it is really difficult when I can’t see behind me.
The rear view camera on my Ford Fusion has been not working. A couple months ago it was off and on when it did not work. When it was too hot the camera would not work and have an error that says to go to a dealership. I dealt with it because it was every once in a while, but now it never works. I went to my local mechanic and he did not know what was causing the problem. I saw that multiple Ford cars, including Fusions, are under recall for what appears to be the same issue I am dealing with. I think the recall should be extended to more model years since it seems to me there are more cars with the problem.
There is a problem with the purge valve on the ford fusion. Car will not start after pumping gas. You have to step on the gas pedal several times and then the car will turn on. After doing research there seems to be several people with the same problem. The purge valve on the canister is getting stuck letting the fumes come in making the system run with extra fuel that’s escaping.
Transmission randomly stopped driving at highway speeds rpm spiked and no movement was in fast lane at 75 mph. Transmission is toast now in for 4-6 thousand dollars to replace also ford did the recall on the emissions reprogram a few months before this issue then tells me it needs a catalytic converter another costly repair car is unsafe. I’m thankful I was driving and not a family with kids.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel remained stuck in the direction turned and failed to return to center. The contact stated that the traction control warning light was illuminated. Due to the failure, excessive force was needed to steer the vehicle while driving back to the residence. The contact’s stepson used a code reader to diagnose the vehicle and performed a reset, and the power steering assist feature returned. Upon investigation, the contact's stepson discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V632000 (STEERING); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact was informed that the repair was temporary and that the failure would return. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
My 2014 Ford Fusion caught fire on January 19, 2026, while parked and stationary inside my residential garage. The vehicle could not be shifted out of park during the incident. Emergency services responded, and an official fire department report was generated. I had owned the vehicle for less than one year and performed no mechanical, electrical, or aftermarket modifications. The vehicle had undergone parking brake service at a licensed dealer prior to delivery, with no work performed after I took possession.
The rearview camera on my 2014 Ford Fusion has been malfunctioning for several years. When the vehicle is placed in reverse, the camera image frequently does not display, displays intermittently, or fails while already in use. When the system does activate, the image is sometimes mirrored or reversed, making it difficult or unsafe to interpret the surroundings behind the vehicle. Overall, the camera functions correctly in approximately 1 out of 10 attempts, and cannot be relied upon for safe operation. This failure is unpredictable and occurs without warning, creating a safety risk due to the inability to consistently see pedestrians, children, or obstacles behind the vehicle. The vehicle was inspected by a Ford dealership for this issue; however, no remedy was provided because the vehicle was outside the warranty period. I am aware that Ford has issued recalls and extended coverage for rearview camera failures on later model year Ford Fusion vehicles (2015 and newer) exhibiting similar symptoms. My vehicle demonstrates the same defect behavior, despite being excluded based solely on model year. Although rearview cameras were optional equipment in 2014, this vehicle was factory-equipped with a camera, and the failure constitutes a safety-related defect rather than normal wear. I am requesting that NHTSA review whether this defect affects earlier model years, including the 2014 Ford Fusion.
