While driving under normal highway conditions, my 2023 Nissan Rogue AWD experienced a sudden and severe safety malfunction. All warning and safety indicator lights on the dashboard illuminated simultaneously, followed by a complete shutdown of the digital instrument cluster. The vehicle lost critical display functions at the moment the issue occurred. Shortly afterward, the check engine light remained on. The dealership later diagnosed the vehicle with DTC P0196 – Engine Oil Temperature Sensor and recommended replacement of the Automatic Transmission Oil Cooler Control Valve.

"I am reporting federal safety recall non-compliance and fraudulent remedy execution by an authorized manufacturer franchise, Bella Nissan of Union City ([XXX]), regarding NHTSA Campaign 26V-080 (Nissan Recall Code R25E2) on my 2023 Nissan Rogue SL FWD.I am the original owner of this vehicle, which has an exceptionally low odometer reading of 12,142 miles. The vehicle is used as primary medical transport for my [XXX] special needs son, who has a severe traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, and partial paralysis. On July 1st, 2026, I brought the vehicle to the dealership explicitly to resolve the critical engine bearing seizure and fire-risk recall. The dealership quoted a 3-hour repair window. Instead, the dealer rushed the vehicle through in 43 minutes total (Start: 12:52, End: 13:35) and recorded an impossible 1-mile odometer difference (Mileage In: 12,142, Mileage Out: 12,143). A single-mile drive is physically incapable of heating the engine oil to the high operating temperatures required by Nissan’s official engineering service bulletin to diagnose defective engine bearings. The dealership falsely certified to federal databases that this fire-risk vehicle was legally remedied, cleared the active safety flag on my consumer app, and billed the manufacturer's warranty department for work never performed. They also billed for a multi-point inspection and complimentary detail that were completely falsified, returning the car with an untouched, dirty windshield. The service advisor then actively withheld the paperwork I physically initialed at pickup, forcing me to take an internal 'Pre-Invoice Audit Copy' to conceal the non-compliant metrics.By rubber-stamping this safety recall on paper without executing the mandatory high-temperature diagnostic drive loop, this dealership has left an unverified fire-risk asset on the road, actively endangering a medically fragile family. I am refusing any future repair loops i want a buyback INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

All of a sudden, while driving, the car was not picking up speed. I parked and noticed the car was idling very roughly. It was though the car was going to just stop when I did start driving again. The check engine light came on while I was driving in the car would not pick up speed. It was still really a rough idle to the car when I turned corners it was like the car was going to stop and it would not go past 35 mph. I immediately drove into the Nissan dealership near me. A week later after dropping it off, I was told the engine had failed.

The contact owned a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that six months after purchasing the vehicle, the vehicle was vibrating abnormally while driving, accelerating, and the vehicle was hesitating. During an oil change, the contact informed the mechanic about the excessive vibration while driving. The contact was notified of an undisclosed recall, but there was no remedy for the recall. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer, but the mechanics were unable to duplicate the failure. During another failure, the vehicle turned off independently while stopped at a red light. The vehicle restarted after three attempts. The vehicle was driven slowly back to the residence. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer a second time, and an undisclosed pump was replaced. The contact stated that months later, the failure reoccurred, and the vehicle could not be restarted. The check engine warning light was illuminated, and the vehicle started smoking while it was stuck on the roadway. While the vehicle was completely stopped and disabled in the roadway, another vehicle rear-ended it. The air bags did not deploy. A Police report was filed. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not deemed a total loss. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 41,000.

Recalls addressed yet engine continued to have ongoing problems. As of today Nissan service said the transmission needs full replacement yet takes zero responsibility for the problem. Car and Engine has continually had problems of cutting out and lagging. Now they are denying this has any correlation to their existing engine problems. This is a major ongoing safety problem due to the fact that when driving the engine stalls and cuts out. There is no consistency of the problem. It just happens. Nissan needs to take responsibility telling an owner to replace a transmission in hopes that this will address an engine problem that has gone on for two years straight is not the answer. They need to understand the dangers of any driving situation where an engine stalls/stops. It’s amazing with this existing problem that nobody has been injured on record yet! This needs to change!

My Nissan rogue is experiencing issues with the throttle body leading it to mal function lights warning see owner manual at 27k miles which also the air mass flow sensor code is coming on P101 at very low mileage. In which those parts are suppose to last for years more mileage I’m concerned for the safety of this vehicle as it’s being very costly and defective and the issues are appearing same symptoms as recalls but the car Vin is not listed this car feels unsafe as it has gone through a few recalls. This car has been inspected by dealership and I was aware of the situation because of them in a diagnostic report.

The shifter assembly/electronic transmission control in my 2023 Nissan Rogue failed after alleged liquid intrusion from a foreseeable spill near the cup holder. The shifter is positioned adjacent to cup holders and appears inadequately sealed, creating a risk to the driver and the vehicle that ordinary vehicle use can disable the ability to shift/operate the vehicle.”

I turn on the car with the remote and it doesn't work; then when I try to start the car, it won't start, it gives an error and won't start; it all happens because of using the remote start; they updated the software because they didn't want to replace the engine due to a recall of defective bearings, and now they've made the starting problem worse, claiming it's an injector issue; they scanned it, reset it, and it's working again; so what injector problems does the software say it has??? It only happens when I plug a device into the USB port or when I start the car remotely; I'm frustrated because it's my work vehicle.

I am filing this formal complaint to request immediate NHTSA intervention regarding Nissan North America’s bad-faith denial of critical safety recall repairs on my 2023 Nissan Rogue. Both Nissan Consumer Affairs and my local Nissan dealership service department are actively misdiagnosing a severe, well-documented engine defect as a "secondary issue" to avoid their legal obligations under NHTSA Recall Campaigns 26V-080 and 26V-081. By forcing me to drive a vehicle that exhibits violent engine shaking and severe, abnormal mechanical noise, Nissan is placing my safety and the safety of the motoring public at immediate risk. They are insisting that I continue operating a compromised vehicle until a catastrophic, total engine failure occurs on the highway. Detailed Timeline of Events and Defect Manifestation June 2025 (Vehicle Under Factory Warranty): The vehicle began exhibiting abnormal, excessively loud engine noises. I presented the vehicle to the authorized Nissan dealership for diagnosis. The service department dismissed the issue, claiming they "could not replicate" the noise, and released the vehicle back to me without repair. I captured digital video and audio recordings of the defect at this time to preserve empirical evidence. February 2026: NHTSA and Nissan announced recalls 26V-080 and 26V-081 specifically targeting the 1.5L and 2.0L VC-Turbo engines for main bearing failure, which causes violent engine shaking, severe noise, knocking, and sudden loss of motive power. [XXX]: As the engine noises worsened and progressed into violent engine shaking, I brought the Rogue back to the dealership service department. They admitted the vehicle was shaking excessively but claimed it was a "secondary issue" caused by a failing Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve. Manufactured/dealership explicitly stated that because they did not yet find metal shavings in the oil pan, they would not authorize the recall remedy. When starting the car, the park light flashes on the dashboard and the electronic parking brake will not disengage. The brake will also not disengage if you switch into gear and try to start driving like it would if the electronics were working properly. There is a start error message displayed on the dashboard as well when the car is started: I had to turn the car off and on dozens of times before it resolved. A google search revealed this is happening to a lot of owners of the ‘23 rogues. One person needed a chip replaced. Others said the only way they could get the car to move was turning the car on and off, sometimes taking hours. I was stranded without being able to drive away.

After taking my 2023.5 Rogue S in for the recall repair (replace sensor and update ECM) I noticed soon after that a knock has started to appear. It is happening any time the engine is under load, especially at lower RPMs. I have changed where I get fuel and that has not resolved the issue, I got my oil change done about 2 weeks ago and the knock is still there

Consumer Safety Complaint – 2023 Nissan Rogue Engine Failure & Denied Reimbursement I am submitting this complaint regarding a known manufacturing defect in my 2023 Nissan Rogue SV that resulted in progressive engine failure, significant out-of-pocket repair costs, and a subsequent denial of my reimbursement claim by Nissan Consumer Affairs. Vehicle Information: • Year/Make/Model: 2023 Nissan Rogue SV • Engine: 1.5L 3-Cylinder KR15DDT VC-Turbo Summary of Events: On July 22, 2025, I brought my vehicle to Precision Automotive and Transmission after experiencing symptoms consistent with the defect described under NHTSA Recalls 25V437 and 26V080. Repairs included CVT diagnostics ($95.00), CVT transmission service ($386.39), water pump replacement ($610.65), and a cooling system service ($259.95) — all cascading failures tied to the engine and transmission defect. On November 13, 2025, my vehicle was towed from my residence due to complete engine failure. A full engine replacement was required at an additional cost of approximately $5,958.22, plus a diagnostic fee of $95.00. Total out-of-pocket expenses: approximately $7,405.21. All repairs were completed prior to Nissan's official recall notification to owners, scheduled for March 27, 2026. Reimbursement Claim Denied: I submitted a formal reimbursement claim to Nissan Consumer Affairs. My claim was denied on the basis of an incorrect diagnostic code. I believe this denial is improper. The underlying failure — engine bearing degradation caused by the KR15DDT's lubrication deficiency — is precisely what these recalls address. Denying reimbursement on a technicality of code classification, while the physical failure is covered under the recall, is deceptive and harmful to consumers. I am not filing this complaint solely to recover my own losses. I am filing because this denial practice may affect thousands of other Nissan owners who experienced the same defect.

The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while depressing the brake pedal and shifting into park(P), the vehicle accelerated independently. The contact stated that the vehicle came to a complete stop upon engaging the parking brake and the CVT Service Soon warning light illuminated. The vehicle failed to shift into park, and the "Unable to shift into park; engage the emergency brake warning message" displayed. The contact stated that the second incident occurred while her son was in the front passenger seat. The contact had walked away from the vehicle, and upon turning around due to her son alerting her that the vehicle was moving independently, the contact noticed that the vehicle accelerated independently, crashed into silver rebars, and came to a complete stop with the front wheels off the ground. The vehicle was revving during the incident. The contact mentioned her son heard a chime as the vehicle was moving. Several unknown warning lights illuminated. No Injury was sustained. No police report was filed. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was towed to the dealer to be diagnosed; however, the diagnosis was unknown. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the failure would need to be investigated prior to a buyback. The approximate failure mileage was 53,000.

The hatchback window exp!oded into the vehicle. The vehicle had been setting under a carport all night and my wife got in the car and when she closed the door the hatch window shattered. She took it to the dealer and was told it was an insurance problem. She stopped by our agent but they were already closed. Meanwhile I had been researching this problem and found out this seemed to be a problem with 2021-2025 Nissan Rouges. My wife took the car back to the dealership and told them it was their problem. The dealership has the car now to replace the window.
