The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds and attempting to decelerate or come to a complete stop, there was an abnormal sound while depressing the brake pedal. The brake warning light was illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that while in reverse, the rear-view camera displayed an upside-down image. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the power booster brake hose needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Upon further investigation, the contact associated the failure with an unknown recall; however, the VIN was not under recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
The car did not brake randomly back in may when I was picking my toddler up from school. I contacted Ford dealership and they said braking issues is a known issue with the edge but my vehicle has no recalls. I could pay almost $300 for a diagnostic fee but nothing would be covered because their was a recall for the brake booster but that was back in 2013-2014. So I went to brakes plus, first they replaced the master cylinder then they replaced the brake booster a week later. Here I am 3 months later and the same issue. The vehicle randomly did not brake AGAIN. Got the vehicle back to brakes plus to have the vehicle looked at again. They replaced the brake booster under warranty then reached out to Ford who let them know the brake booster and brake lines are a know defect with the vehicle and I can have my vehicle looked at by them but I would need to pay the fee and nothing would be covered . How is this a known issue and nothing is covered? Ford checked my Vin and no vehicle recall. I reached out to Ford corporate and they created a case number: Cxh-09196123-F6m4z3 I am pregnant and I feel this car is dangerous if this is a known issue.
Just purchased this used vehicle from Orange Auto Connection in [XXX] on XXX. Car was in perfect operating condition. 2 days later while driving with my 2 granddaughters I was approaching a stop sign at about 35-40 mph and as I started to push on the break pedal it became very soft and pushed all the way to the floor with no resistance. I thought the car wouldnt stop,. Thankfully it did without an accident . It has not returned to the normal breaking conditions. Today is XXX. I have to drive this car everyday as it is my only vehicle. I didn't buy an extended warranty from the dealer because I couldn't afford it. Why has this issue not become a safety recall. If I had known about this problem that has apparently been addressed years ago and had just expired in November 2025 prior to buying this car I wouldn't have purchased it. They are a lot of people including myself that live check to check and still struggle with every day necessities and potentially being faced with a heafty repair bill to fix a dangerous fault that manufacture knew about really causes sleepless nights and undo stress that they should not have to endure because they are afraid they will be hurt or hurt othera in an accident caused by a manufacture defect. While driving on the highway at 70 mph, the driver's side front halfshaft completely detached from the vehicle, causing an immediate loss of drive power and creating a severe crash hazard."
The backup camera will flip upside down or go completely blank or not work at all. I had my car in reverse and the camera didn’t come on and one time I flipped upside down and now it don’t work at all.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 MPH, the brake pedal was inoperative. The contact stated that the vehicle drove for several yards, and the contact was unable to reach the parking brake. The vehicle was shifted into park(P) to attempt to stop the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle crashed into the shrubs in front of the window at an independent mechanic shop, causing the vehicle to come to a stop right before almost crashing into the shop window, which resulted in minor damage to the front bumper. No warning lights were illuminated. The air bags were not deployed. An independent mechanic diagnosed the vehicle and stated that the brake pads and rotors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the brake booster module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The contact researched and was made aware of an unknown recall; however, the VIN was not included. The failure had occurred on several occasions. There were no injuries sustained. A Police report was not filed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000.
When I put my 2013 Ford edge in reverse the backup camera goes out for about 5 to 10 seconds or it just doesn’t work at all. And also I just paid $672 to have the drivers side door latch replaced because the recall had expired in November of 2025 the door ajar light would stay on and the dash would say place vehicle in park
The Gas Cap is defected the light always comes on and you have to pump gas a certain way.
Frequently, when the car is in reverse, the screen which shows the image from the backup camera goes blank while backing up. The screen typically stays blank for approximately 5 seconds and then comes back on. Sometimes I have to place the shifter in “park” and then return to “reverse” to get the screen to display the image. I have received a letter from Ford Motor Co. which describes the stated condition and offering to repair free of charge for vehicles that are not older than 15 years. However, the letter references only my 2015 Ford F150. I called the local dealer to see if my 2013 Edge is covered under the recall and the dealer stated it is not covered. Since my Edge is less than 15 years old I think Ford should have to cover all Ford vehicles which have the stated problem.
Back up camera displays upside down image when vehicle is placed in Reverse making it extremely difficult to determine images pertaining to the safe operation of my vehicle while performing backing up or checking for obstacles; i.e. pedestrians, pets, bicycles, nearby vehicles or other objects that can cause damage to my vehicle. My vehicle was purchased in 2025 and was informed that this has been a known issue by Ford but a recall has not been issued yet.
The backup camera flips upside down when I try and reverse and or an error message pops up
I am filing a consumer complaint against Ford Motor Company regarding a known, severe safety defect in my 2013 Ford Edge 3.5L AWD. The internal water pump has failed, leaking green coolant onto the ground and threatening catastrophic engine failure. Ford designed this vehicle with an internal water pump that dumps coolant into the engine oil when it fails, hiding the defect from consumers until the powertrain is destroyed. Furthermore, the All-Wheel Drive Power Transfer Unit (PTU) is overheating due to a design that labels the fluid 'lifetime' and prevents standard servicing. I purchased this vehicle for $14,400 and have invested $4,000 in maintenance, and I am seeking state consumer protection advocacy regarding Ford's deceptive engineering practices."
I drive a 2013 Ford Edge. It's getting the same error on the rearview camera that many other Ford vehicles have had recalled.
The safety system back up camera has been malfunctioning for 18 months. At times the image will be inverted, at times it will appear to be zoomed in very close, but most of the time it does not work at all. The alerts (beeping) that should be occurring when identifying a hazard do not work. The horn no longer works. Several times the entire electrical system will shut off and then reset. There have not been any warning lights on the dash to indicate why this is happening. My vehicle has not been examined by a dealer or independent service center.
On the 2013 Ford edge I own the backup camera fails frequently and without warning. Sometimes the camera will not work at all when the transmission is placed in reverse, other times the camera will fail while during the process of backing up. Problem - does not work at all: When the car is placed in reverse the camera projects a blue screen then states the camera is not available, this happens when it does not work at all. Problem - shuts down while in use: Turns off while in use, one has the rear camera view when backing up, then the camera does one of two things it flips flops (top to bottom) or flashes a blue screen then states the camera is not available. And then sometimes the camera will work for one to three times (the camera is working while backing up, turn the vehicle off, exit / re-enter the vehicle and it works for backing up, but the next time the vehicle is entered and placed in reverse the camera is not working at all and the message reads camera is not available. This has been occurring on a more frequent basis over the last month
I am submitting this letter to report a serious safety defect involving the brake system on my 2013 Ford Edge (VIN: [XXX]). The vehicle is experiencing a brake failure consistent with known ABS/HCU pump issues that have affected similar Ford Edge model years. On XXX, the vehicle was inspected at Randall Reed’s Planet Ford 635 in Garland, Texas. Service Advisor Luis Rodriguez confirmed the brake concern and provided a repair estimate of $3,500. The dealership indicated that the failure is related to the ABS/HCU system. The symptoms include: A spongy brake pedal Inconsistent brake pressure Reduced braking effectiveness Increased stopping distance Unpredictable brake response These symptoms match those described in Ford Recall 16C10, which addressed ABS/HCU pump failures on certain 2012–2014 Ford Edge vehicles. Although my VIN is not included in the recall, the failure pattern is identical and presents a clear safety hazard. I have contacted Ford Motor Company multiple times, including through executive escalation channels, but I have not received a response or assistance. Given the nature of this defect and its similarity to a previously acknowledged safety issue, I believe this may indicate a broader pattern that warrants investigation. I respectfully request that NHTSA review this matter to determine whether the existing recall should be expanded to include additional VINs or model ranges affected by the same ABS/HCU defect. Thank you for your attention to this safety concern. I am available to provide additional documentation, including the dealership diagnosis, repair estimate, and service notes. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The brakes on my 2013 Ford Edge failed with no notice. Luckily I was able to coast into a parking lot to get stopped. Even pushing the brake pedal to the floor will not stop the car. We immediately and safely took the car to our local repair shop who confirmed we needed 2 ABS parts to fix the car. That was Oct, 2025 and as of today (June 10, 2026)the parts are still not available to order. I have checked with 3 Ford dealers in 3 states and all say the same thing. They can't order the parts to fix my car and say over 1,500 are on back order. The car is undriveable with no brakes and creates a major safety risk. I have heard some dealers got Ford to provide a rental car. It is becoming a financial burden not having a car to drive for 10 months and Ford doesn't seem to have put out any recall or offer any help.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at 25 MPH, the brakes failed, and the vehicle coasted to the side of the road. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was recurrent. The dealer was notified of the failure, but repairs were pending due to parts unavailability. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 226,424.
The rear back up camera stopped working , goes black or flips upside down. Sometimes even flickers and then says contact your local dealer for assistance.
