The rear view mirror backup camera continues to stop working and occasionally camera shows everything 280 degrees upside down. this is a MAJOR safety issue !!!!!!
The backup camera works periodically. Over a year ago, I went to Fiesta Ford to complain but it would cost me over $1000 to repair the camera. Many rimes it will start to work and during my back up, the screen would go black. There were several times when this occurred where I almost backed into another car backing up at the same time. The message on the screen says camera currently not available.
On three separate occasions, the brake pedal has gone all the way to the floor, with braking power reduced to a scary, dangerous level. An independent mechanic ran a diagnostic scan on one of those occasions and received an ABS Module fault. They bled the system, and the brakes worked well (fault went away) -- until the next incident, in which the car decided to randomly 'fix' itself about 20 minutes later. Independent shop and the dealership performed in-depth inspections of the entire braking system and could not find the issue. This hydraulic failure is a documented safety problem on other Edge models and should be the subject of a recall for the 2014 Ford Edge.
Brake pedal felt mushy, took vehicle to repair shop and had master cylinder replaced. Problem persisted so took vehicle to a different repair shop and had brake booster replaced. Pedal felt firmer but then a hissing sound could be heard while driving without using brakes. Had brake booster replaced again as well as the vacuum hose connected to booster. Now Pedal goes all the way the floor requiring excessive pressure to stop vehicle and a high pitched hissing sound is heard when applying pressure to brake pedal. Hissing sound still present while car in motion without touching brakes. Vehicle had to be put into neutral to stop. Backing out of driveway, vehicle continues to roll slightly even when Pedal pushed to floor. Mo warning lights have ever come on and brake fluid reservoir needs frequent additions of fluid.
The backup camera malfunctions, and has been doing so for about a year. When the vehicle is put into REVERSE sometimes the camera screen will be black for a few moments, followed by a message that the camera isn't available, and that I should contact my dealer. Sometimes it will come on, but show an upside-down image. There are active recalls for this problem, but I can't seem to get my VIN on the recall list so that this safety issue can be fixed.
Ford has a recall on all back up cameras on Ford Edges due to the camera malfunctioning but they only have the recall back to year 2015. My camera has been malfunctioning forever but I did and do not want to pay to get it corrected. The camera shows everything upside down. I feel Ford should fix every camera that has issues, not just from 2015 and beyond.
My backup camera has had problems for a least a year and a half with my backup camera being inverted or black at times, more often than functioning correctly. In addition over the last 6 months my entire infotainment center goes black at which time I have no access to climate controls, navigation, radio or Bluetooth connections for cell phone. Consider the recent recall for vehicles one year newer then mine I’m sure there are others within my year and older experiencing this problem
I’ve had some serious problems with my back up camera sometimes it blacks out and turns completely black in the middle of me backing up a few times I almost ran into a car and a person backing up and then when it goes blank all of a sudden I couldn’t see. Also sometimes the picture will turn upside down and get distorted. I was going to get it looked at and I spoke with a friend that has a 2013 Ford edge and said they were having the same problems with their back up camera. So I looked it up online and noticed there’s a recall on all backup cameras on Ford vehicles, it said it started 2015 and up, and it stated that the problems that they were having were the exact same problems that I’m having but when I put my information in, it says there’s no recall on my car so if it’s the specific year, I don’t know, but I’m obviously having the exact same problems with my backup camera and I feel like it’s dangerous and I’m sure I’m not the only vehicle that that’s happened to, especially with them having a recall on their backup cameras. I feel that ford should recall on the backup cameras for more than just the 2015 and up, my model is a 2014 Ford edge sport and definitely is having the exact same problems as the other recalls on their back up cameras
Ford has the abs valve on back order for over 700 vehicles with no delivery date in sight. The vehicles are worthless at this point because they can’t be fixed or driven safely.
In busy traffic brake pedal went all the way to floor almost causing me to hit vehicle in front of me. Vehicle was towed to my mechanic at which time he informed me this is an ongoing issue with Ford and is recall issue. I have contacted my local Ford dealer as well as Ford Motor company and filed a claim.Vehicle has not been repaired. I hope sooner than later Ford will acknowledge this ongoing issue as this is a very catastrophic loss!!
My ABS module/ hydraulic control unit isn’t working . My ford dealership, Autonation Lincoln Clearwater, could not find a replacement and were told that they weren’t making them anymore . I found that there were recalls on years 2015 and 2016
The backup camera on my 2014 Ford Edge is upside down. At night, the picture is completely unrecognizable. This year should have been included in the recent recall.
I am an automotive service technology teacher, retired. The ABS system on this vehicle failed without warning and without any trouble codes. No lights, no codes. The pedal sinks nearly to the floor, but does engage the brakes once the ABS chambers fill with fluid. But, by the time brakes begin to engage, one's heart skips a beat and it actually takes 1/2 second longer for the brakes to actually work. If not for my tall stature, I might not be able to reach the distance it takes to get hydraulic pressure. Brakes work, but marginally due to interference with floor. My research indicates this is a relatively common problem with these vehicles. Folks need to be warned! A recall is in order; at the very least a service bulletin and a customer notification. I'll fix it, but I shouldn't need to. I'll save the old unit and ship it if anybody wants to inspect it.
THE REAR VIEW CAMERA DISPLAYS A DISTORTED IMAGE ON THE CENTER OF THE DISPLAY SCREEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN REVERSE.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while reversing, the rear-view camera displayed a distorted image. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with a rear-view camera system failure. The contact was informed that the rear-view camera system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact referenced an unknown recall which had a similar failure description; however, the vehicle was not associated. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Rear back up camera stopped working after image turned upside down for a few days.
faulty rear-view camera
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Edge. The contact stated that on several occasions for over a year, when the vehicle was shifted into reverse(R), the back over prevention image was turned upside down. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
1) my rear view camera is disoriented when car is in reverse. Sometimes the picture on the screen is upside down or doesnt show anything at all. 2) drivers seat belt does not clip in correctly. I have to push the red button in for the seat belt to clip into place.
I purchased my 2014 Ford Edge in December 2023. March 2023, I started having issues with the driver side door lock sensor malfunction as shown in the last photo. The door would not automatically lock when I started driving, sensing that the driver’s side door was still open. It was not. I kept pushing the lock button to lock it, but it kept unlocking even while driving. Eventually it would lock. The cost to fix that was around $600 which I could not afford, and my limited warranty expired. July/August 2025 my ABS and traction control sensor lights were lit on my dash. I took the car for service and my very reputable mechanic diagnosed with no codes showing up a few times. Performed a reset twice and the lights came back on after only driving a couple of miles. He contacted Ford who advised he couldn't sell the part because there was a "national hold" on the part. On 9/2 my brakes and traction control failed resulting me rear ending another vehicle. The other safety issue is that my airbags did not deploy upon the collision. I contacted Ford Corporation and was advised that Ford will not do anything since my vehicle was older than 10 years. The vehicle is a total loss leaving me with a loan balance of approximately $4,700.00. This is neither fair nor right for a multimillion-dollar company that will not or choose not to address or acknowledge their responsibility regarding these two very serious safety issues. Since I didn’t die or get seriously hurt, I guess it’s not that big a deal to Ford.
