I purchased My 2019 ford edge Titanium in April 2021 with 12k miles on it. June 2023, I had to replace the torque converter at 52k miles. In March 2024, I replaced the purge valve. January 2026, I started having shuddering at takeoff and a jerk when shifting from park to reverse. I had a tune up completed and fuel Injector replacement. July 2026, I started having shuddering at takeoff again. Rapidly progressed to loss of acceleration and my air would not blow cold. It’s been at the shop 2 weeks now and I still owe on it. I’ll never purchase another Ford! I’ve read way too many people online having the same issues I’m experiencing and there’s no recall. My son and I could have been seriously hurt if that loss of acceleration occurred on the interstate
Transmission began to jerk at about 40 mph. Dealership said I needed a new transmission. There was a warning light came on teice and disappeared after I shut the cat down and restarted it.
Transmission. Dealership service department stating torque converter internally failed. Need a new transmission or rebuild. The car is shuddering, does not take off smoothly, and jerks when accelerating and turning.
I started having transmission issues 2 years after having my car. Took it into the shop and they stated it was a powertrain and transmission slipping. Then proceeded to quote the work almost $7,000. This is the second ford vehicle I had that has had transmission problems. What if my car stalls out at a red light or the transmission fails on the road? Important factors to consider.
After I shift out of park and start driving, my vehicle shudders and jerks. The shuddering and jerking are less noticeable the faster I go and almost goes away completely once I reach 60-70mph. It's almost like when the car has bad gas but after testing this theory that was found not to be the case after changing to premium gas. I took my car to Lafayette Ford located in Fayetteville, NC. They determined that the torque converter has a shudder and also the transmission has a harsh shift from 2-3. They said that manufacturer has a suggested fix for this concern that they recommend all of the dealerships to follow. Per Ford, TSB 25-2154 covers this and will need to be performed. Prior to me experiencing these issues, there were no warning lamps or messages but about 9 months earlier there was a popping noise when I turned the wheel while trying to leave a parking lot. Popping and loud clicking and banging. After diagnostic check, they replaced the axle assembly and front axle shaft. The car was never the same after that work was done.
This is the second Ford Edge that my family has owned. We traded in our 2020 Ford Edge when its transmission torque converter failed at just over 100,000mi and the cost to repair was as much as the car was worth. The torque converter on our current Ford Edge (2019) just failed at 57,000mi and again, the cost to repair is as much as the car is worth. The failed torque converter caused immediate heavy stutter and lack of power on acceleration, as well as significant jolting of the vehicle when gears changed (both accelerating and decelerating). I have recently learned that these Edge model years are plagued with a faulty transmission that prematurely fails making driving dangerous and a repair extremely costly.
Car shudders, bucks, jerks when shifting between 20-40mph. After performing software updates, the car is still experiencing same issues and requires the transmission to be replaced.
EGR Cooler is broken, which could have caused engine damage and potentially could have led to car catching on fire with my daughter and I in it. Vehicle had trouble starting, then white smoke started coming out of exhaust. My daughter and I were stranded, waiting for a towing company. Cost of repair is more than $2600. There were no warning lamps, messages or symptoms prior to the issue. This problem has been diagnosed by a Ford dealership. I spoke with Ford customer service and they refuse to pay for the repair. The following article describes current class action lawsuits against Ford on this issue: [XXX] "According to the lawsuit, Ford has known of the Ecoboost coolant leak problem since at least 2010, based on pre-production tests, early warranty claims, replacement part orders, numerous technical service bulletins and consumer complaints submitted to the automaker’s dealer network and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Nevertheless, Ford has “knowingly, actively and affirmatively omitted and concealed the existence” of the defect in order to sell more vehicles, the suit alleges. As for owners and lessees, the complaint alleges the drivers have overpaid for vehicles that increase their chance of being involved in a collision due to an engine overheating, catching fire or catastrophically failing, the lawsuit says." Transmission slipping and was looked over by a professional. There was debris found inside that continually causes damage. Has made vehicle randomly jolt and slow to come up to speed causing danger on the road. No warning lights came up.
The transmission went out on my 2019 Ford Edge. It is available for inspection upon request. My safety was put at risk because it started to break down in the middle of a busy road. I was lucky that the parking lot I needed to go to was just a little bit farther up the road. The problem was confirmed by the Kia of Abilene Dealership service center. They were the only ones to look at it due to it not being drivable. I had to tow it to them. There were no warning lamps or messages. The only “symptom” would have been that it started jerking slightly while driving a couple months prior, August 2025, to the transmission going out. The car broke down in October of 2025. There was no check engine light appearing, and the device they attached to my car did not show any codes that something was wrong.
The transmission in my 2019 Ford Edge with 82,595 miles completely broke down/stopped working, not allowing me to shift gears or engage the transmission at all.. No warning lamps or other indicators prior to this problem were present. The vehicle had to be towed to the dealer (Dean Sellers Ford, Troy, Michigan). The dealer reports the transmission has to be completely replaced as it has "suspected internal planetary damage" and the recommended repair is to "Replace the transmission and cooler" at the cost of almost $14,000.00. This is complete unacceptable for car that is 7 years old, regularly maintained at the same dealership and has less than 83,000 miles to warrant a complete transmission failure, requiring this large and costly repair which almost outweighs the value of the car and can only lead me as the consumer to believe the transmission was faulty and defective to fail at such an early life cycle. Ford has failed to offer any resolution or provide an explanation why this large expensive component in their vehicle failed without warning and prematurely.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the transmission seized in park(P) and failed to shift into drive(D). The contact stated that the transmission had previously been replaced. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who determined that the transmission had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V402000 (Power Train); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.
WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 50 AND 60 MPH, THE CAR SEEMS TO BE SWAYING LEFT AND RIGHT
The front passenger seatbelt will not adjust and is stuck. It worked when last used. I parked and when we got in to go, it wouldn’t work . It was not due to any misuse and is a safety issue as the passenger has to plug it in so the seatbelt notice will go off. I don’t know why it is not able to be adjusted.
Full transmission failure, resulting in a full transmission replacement required. The problem has been confirmed by more than one independent service center. The check engline light came on and off for about week before the official diagnosis. From what I've found this is a common issue that many many owners have also had and suggested filling an official complaint here so that Ford is held responsible.
Transmission failure less than 100000 mile ford want 10000 to fix this is not feasible for the average American.
I am wanting to share my concerns about my 2019 Ford Edge. My Edge has 64,500 miles on it and the transmission needs replacing; it is sitting in my back driveway. My daughter and I just made it home from a trip when the transmission gave out - when we pulled into the driveway, and it was still in gear, it put itself into park! We tried to put it in drive and reverse and again, as we were watching the gear dial - it put itself into park again! Before that, I had noticed some issues about jerking and revving up so I took it to the nearest Ford dealership - after hooking it up to the computer several times (while it was UNDER 60,000 miles on the odometer), the dealership told me that they changed a few things on the computer and 'it would drive like hell for a while, but it will get used to my driving and get better' !! After contacting them more, they told me that it needed a new throttle body. I wanted a second opinion so a friend trailered it to another Ford dealership and they tested the transmission liquids and told me that it needs a new transmission. (It was now over 60K.) Ford said that if I would pay them $4500, they MIGHT cover the other the $4500 for the new transmission. I had my Edge for about a year when this happened and now it has been sitting in my driveway since last summer!! I am still making the monthly payment on it, plus full coverage insurance for a pretty driveway ornament. My friend found paperwork regarding transmissions like mine having troubles (and he showed it to the local dealership - they did nothing) so I have been watching for recalls on the transmission. If you have any suggestions, etc please let me know - I do not have $4500 to fix my car...... When this all started, I contacted Ford and started a case on it. (8/26/24). Case #XXX. I was told by the dealership to start it myself and keep an eye on it; but when I called Ford regarding it - they told me that the dealership should be the ones doing this...... While accelerating from a stop or at lower speeds, the vehicle jerks or lurches significantly during gear changes. The jerking continues until the vehicle reaches cruising speed. The condition affects drivability and creates concerns about vehicle control when entering traffic or crossing intersections. The problem has persisted despite normal operation. The vehicle has been diagnosed as requiring transmission repair/rebuild. I am aware of Ford Technical Service Bulletin 21-2389, which describes shuddering, bucking, or jerking in certain 2019 Ford Edge vehicles. The symptoms my vehicle exhibits appear similar to those described in the bulletin.
I had to pay for a new transmission in my 2019 Ford Edge SEL after two Ford dealerships deemed it necessary. I spent over $5,000 on a used one from the same year vehicle to only have a second transmission failure in less than 24 months. Not being able to shift gears as normal has caused me to be almost hit by other vehicles when trying to enter highways that require high speeds.
When the vehicle is parked outside on hot days, the driver's side seatbelt retraction system locks up and will not release until the vehicle internal temperature drops significantly. This makes it impossible for the driver to put on a seat belt until the car cools a significant amount usually requiring a 20 to 30 minute drive with the A/C on high. This appears to be identical to a recall I just became aware of in Ford Recall 26S34 (NHTSA Campaign 26V344), however our 2019 Ford Edge is not included in the recal campaign. This is a repeatable malfunction which occurred many times over the course of the summer of 2025. The local Ford dealership was not helpful and, at that time, indicated replacement retractor mechanisms were unavailable when I reported the issue to them. I performed an inspection of the unit and reported the issue to the local Ford dealership. I am a retired Accident Investigation Officer from the Illinois State Police and hold a degree in Aerospace Engineering so I am comfortable in reporting this as a product defect. The vehicle does not indicate there is a problem through any type of error light or message. The only way to know it has occurred is to attempt to put on the seat belt and hope it is usable.
